Traffic nearly doubled in the last few days! How do I check which posts it is coming from?

I'm happy that my site is doing well. The traffic as nearly jumped to double of what it was out of nowhere. I would like to know how do I check which posts are getting the traffic? Which ones are ranking at the top spots? Outdated page reappears and is not being removed by outdated content.

I deleted an account on a photo site about a year ago. A search page from that site showed up on my Google search and it had a lot of images that I did not want my photos to be associated with. Originally, all links (including the search page link) were removed by the outdated content tool after I deleted the account. After a few months the search page reappeared on the image search with a different photo (there is no visible web result) and now outdated content denies it every time I submit it. The photo site says that they have removed every last trace of my account. The page has my last name so I guess that could be what keeps it coming back, but it ranks higher than some of my images. I’ve sent feedback to google but it hasn‘t helped that much. Is there any way to get rid of it? submitted by /u/rainindigo [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/2QlBY13

from a hiring manager's perspective at a company looking to hire an SEO, if they had to choose between the two, would they rather go with someone who possesses a strong general business/marketing knowledge who has the ability to pitch to the c suite, forecast with revenue, very articulate but has mediocre/weak SEO skills or someone who is less knowledgeable in business/marketing, a bit of an introvert, but has very strong raw skills especially with technical SEO? submitted by /u/drinkyafkingmilk [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/2zFWRyz

Updates in SEO tactics

I've never bothered to think about SEO before, but recently I started a website and although the content itself is awesome (I think), I might have to think about how to reach a decent number of people. So that's when I started to read up on SEO. As far as I've understand things changed a lot over the years. 15 years ago it was easy to 'game' the system by just having a lot of backlinks everywhere for example. Ranging from forum signatures to 1 page blogs etc. Nowadays that doesn't work anymore. Same goes for keyword stuffing and on-page optimiziation that lost value. Personally I am glad with these developments. One, because I think it will improve the quality of the web as a whole. And two because it is not even fun to start with these tactics to rank your site. The idea that I get is that it is way more about content nowadays. Can anybody confirm? And also what is now the main focus of SEO (apart from content and optimized pages)? Is it still si...

Trying to buy a Domain for my Website

Hi Everyone! Please help my curiosity. I am setting up a photograhy collaboration platform for our small team in Australia and was looking to buying a domain. The domain is short, only xxxxxxxx.com (8 letters) and potentially, a popular search term. It was up for sale for only USD 9.99 per year (89.99 for 5 yrs) till yesterday but I had no funds. I managed some money today but the domain is not available. It is not parked, doesn't have an IP redirect assigned and is locked by EPP for "clientTransfer" from Registrar which is US based. Interestingly, Archive.org wayback machine shows there was a parking website until before 2016/2017 and then no history after that, it was removed. Please someone tell me how long before the EPP lock is removed ? Will I be able to buy it again? submitted by /u/princelcfr [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/2QdRg7O

What are the most important TLD's for SEO in 2018?

AFIK they are: .com .net .org .info Read it before somewhere else, but can't remember where. What I read mentioned that when you acquire a domain you should purchase at least these 4 TLD's and point them to the main website, this to give out a strong SEO signal. Updating page content drops rank/traffic?

So I have a webpage that is getting a lot of traffic from google. So I thought I would update and add more pertinent content so that it would do even better. But a few days after I made the changes, I observed a drop in traffic. The title is the same, and the upper half of my article is the same; I just improved on the bottom half of the article. So what's up with this drop in traffic? Is google that sensitive to me changing things around on my webpage? submitted by /u/TheReviewNinja [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/2OZpKej

Getting impressions for an unexpected keyword - should I optimize for that?

A little background: My niche is psychology and the keyword has little to do with psychology but it is relevant for that particular article. I'm noticing impressions for that keyword and was thinking if I should optimize for it. In fact, the main keyword hasn't ranked yet. The article is about 1 month old. How do you deal with this? Should I just leave it as it is? submitted by /u/Shred77 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/2QcqlJy

Wordpress and Google Search Console: Which URL should I claim in SC?

I just created a website using Wordpress. I am on the "Personal" plan for now, so there are no SEO features or plugins available, except for adding the Search Console meta tag to get my website verified. I registered a new domain and under the domains tab in Wordpress, my primary domain is " r/https ://website.ca" and the following links will redirect to that domain: " r/http ://website.ca" " r/http :// www.website.ca " " r/https :// www.website.ca " "website.ca" " www.website.ca " My question is: How do I make sure that Google treats all of the above links to be the same as " r/https ://website.ca " with Wordpress? I do not want the redirected links to compete in search rankings with my primary domain. Does Wordpress automatically create canonicalization for the other links? Does it use 301 redirect? Or does it do nothing at all and I have to manually set it up somehow? Do I claim each link se...

Should I remove AggregateRating schema markup?

I have implemented an AggregateRating schema on my website. I have a specific products/projects on the website and only I'm the only one who is giving the rates. Still cannot decide if I should enable visitors to rate. For that products searches I'm on the front page. Usually in the first 5 results. I'm trying to rate that products honestly, so lots of them have 2 stars. Competitors do not have AggregateRating implemented, and I'm worried that I'm not getting clicks for that not so good rated products. Changing Essays to Blog posts on the site

So I started messing with it and have taken 2 essays and made them into already published blogs. I tried to schedule them in the future, and it simply yielded a 404 error. 2 questions, if you don't mind... 1, I've been randomly choosing a previous date and having it publish then (obviously it publishes immediately, but it says published on Dec 28, 2016, for example. Is that a problem? And 2, even if I put 301 and scheduled it for a later date, on something that has yet to publish as a blog, would I get a duplicate content penalty as it was once published and indexed by the search engines when it was an essay? I'm using the exact same URLs for all of them and am only doing this to clean up my landing page from the 49 drop down essays that scroll down the page when you hit the essays button on the menu. www.completefitnessdesign.com Thanks in advance for your help! Crucial SEO/Analytics question that I need solved asap, please help

Ok, so here's the deal. I want to know if the customers who purchased my products on my e-commerce site actually'searched' a non-branded term, landed on the product page, and successfully converted. I have a bunch of recent new customers who have purchased a product but I have NO IDEA if they actually went through that ideal 'search' process. I mean they all could have just went directly into my site URL because they heard of my brand via word of mouth or just could just have searched my brand name (again because they have heard via word of mouth). In order to see if my SEO organic strategy is working, I need to know if these customers who are converting actually landed on the page through a NON-BRANDED keyword search. How would I go about finding this out? submitted by /u/drinkyafkingmilk [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/2xGTypi

[ELI5] Difference between 301 and 308 redirect?

I tried researching about it and can’t seem to grasp the concept of what really differs between these. According to Wikipedia: “The request and all future requests should be repeated using another URI. 307 and 308 parallel the behaviors of 302 and 301, but do not allow the HTTP method to change. So, for example, submitting a form to a permanently redirected resource may continue smoothly.” submitted by /u/mvs123456 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/2RaqQFg
