HELP!- Homepage Suddenly Not Indexed by Google

Has this ever happened to anyone? Yesterday my home page was ranking in top 10 for 20+ keywords. And has been that way for several months. Today, suddenly, my homepage started dropping in rank. I chalked this up to SERP volatility. Then later in the day I went to Search Console and tested the url, it said that it was not indexed by Google. The page itself is indexable (not mentioned in my robot.txt, no “noindex” Meta , etc) search console even confirmed the page was indexable but just wasn’t indexed. I suddenly lost all my rankings. Over a year of hard work. Does anyone know how I can fix this. Is it just a glitch? Will Google adjust the SERP and fix once indexed? Also: All other pages of my site are still indexed by Google. No errors in site map. Also went through everything in the Google help center and nothing helpful. submitted by /u/wjones995 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3mZHLKK

Sitemap hasn't been read in over 2 years - how to fix?

Hey everyone, ran into an issue I'm stumped on. New client is a large US company. Reviewing their GSC a few weeks ago I noticed their XML sitemap has a "Last Read" date of Sep 1, 2018. I've submitted the sitemap a few times already, and the "Last Submitted" date updates accordingly, but the Last Read date does not. I've even deleted the sitemap entirely and re-submitted and the error is still showing. The # of URLs indicated in the sitemap is also incorrect (off by about 50%), so I'm fairly positive Google is indeed not reading their sitemap. Anyone run into this before and know of any workarounds? submitted by /u/Ken_Field [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3jncCyU

GSC ownership verification lost

I had my website connected with GSC using html file and never had any problems. Until 2 days ago. I open GSC to check performance and it says site not verified. I click verify with html file again and it said "file not found". I open my file manager and the file is there. Nothing changed and I still lost ownership of the site. And the thing is I can't get it back. I tried html file, html tag and google analytics and nothing works. Any ideas why this might be happening? submitted by /u/JimHenrickson [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/2GbEis2

Where/How to learn SEO that actually works?

Hi there, I am interested in becoming an SEO expert. I come from an IT background and have some experience with WordPress and coding in general. I have followed some online Udemy courses on SEO which seemed a bit dated to me but when I applied the techniques to my website for testing i got mediocre improvement. The main things I've learned Back links are important Keyword and metatag optimisation on site content Good content and being consistent Suburb page listings where appropriate Maybe using platforms like ahrefs and Moz which i don't really understand how to use right now. To me this all seems like pseudo science and I am trying to find a legitimate process that can take me from no rank to first page or close for a site. I realise that it obviously takes work to achieve that, I just wanted to get an idea of whether I'm missing something. Is this something people go to uni for or do they just poke around sites until they list well? Lastly, how do people gen...

Localising One Page on my Website

I've got one page (case study) which is a translation of another page on the website. I just noticed that the translated version is an orphan page, so it's not getting indexed. As far as I know, the best way to do multi-language pages is to have the same page, but different language versions of that same page/url. But, my gut is telling me that perhaps if you have only one page out of 100+ in a different language, using this language variable page might not be the best option. Another option is simply linking the English version to the translated one, and vice versa. Which method do you think would be more beneficial in order to get better ranking? Would gladly appreciate your help! PS: using Hubspot as a CMS if that makes any difference. submitted by /u/FascinatedQuestioner [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/33cGgkx

Page Authority 2.0: An Update on Testing and Timing

Posted by rjonesx. One of the most difficult decisions to make in any field is to consciously choose to miss a deadline. Over the last several months, a team of some of the brightest engineers, data scientists, project managers, editors, and marketers have worked towards a release date of the new Page Authority (PA) on September 30, 2020. The new model is exceptional in nearly every way to the current PA, but our last quality control measure revealed an anomaly that we could not ignore. As a result, we’ve made the tough decision to delay the launch of Page Authority 2.0 . So, let me take a moment to retrace our steps as to how we got here, where that leaves us, and how we intend to proceed. Seeing an old problem with fresh eyes Historically, Moz has used the same method over and over again to build a Page Authority model (as well as Domain Authority). This model's advantage was its simplicity, but it left much to be desired. Previous Page Authority models trained against SERP...

Coding a theme with Wordpress, using variables as keywords?

So I have a WordPress theme with Woocommerce installed. I'm working on some of the template pages and I have a question about SEO. I can easily put the name of the product and store it as a variable, and dynamically put it on the site. For instance: $someName = $product->name; echo ` <h1>$someName</h1> <h2>Facts about ' . $someName . '</h2>;' If $someName was "Cool Toy", the site would generate: "COOL TOY... Facts about Cool Toy" etc. My question is, does this hurt my SEO, or even affect it at all since PHP is generated by the server? Does google need to crawl hard-coded content, or can it crawl the above? submitted by /u/Sackadelic [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/2Hy8HRx

Testing SEO and Case Studies

I’ve been studying SEO and teaching others what I’ve learned for awhile now. However, I’ve never actually put what I’ve learned into practice on my own. I was looking to create a case study that I can show others - look at this, it works! Most people say, start a blog and work on ranking it. Starting a new site and ranking it quickly with white hat practices can take a long time. I also don’t mind doing it, but I’m also not a great writer...or maybe don’t have the discipline to write 2,000 word articles. I’m looking for ideas on how to test out what I’ve learned and be able to show people. I want to do the work myself and invest little money into it so I have full control. This means writing, backlinks, etc., even if I have to learn to enjoy writing. Other than a blog, are there any other ideas anyone recommends to see if what I’ve been learning actually works? Or if a blog is a way to go, do I pick a topic I enjoy and go for it or do I also find something that’s easier to rank f...

How to fix 'Rich results test' missing fields?

This test doesn't really tell you what or where to add the missing fields: Missing field "image" (optional) Missing field "brand" (optional) Missing field "description" (optional) Missing field "sku" (optional) Missing field "offers" (optional) No global identifier provided (e.g., gtin, mpn, isbn) (optional) I don't know what to do. I went looking for the files on my server that contain some of the highlighted code when you click on the above but couldn't find the file. My 8 Best Local SEO Tips for the 2020 Holidays

Posted by MiriamEllis Image credit: DoSchu “No place like home for the holidays.” This will be the refrain for the majority of your customers as we reach 2020’s peak shopping season. I can’t think of another year in which it’s been more important for local businesses to plan and implement a seasonal marketing strategy extra early, to connect up with customers who will be traveling less and seeking ways to celebrate at home. Recently, it’s become trendy in multiple countries to try to capture the old Danish spirit of hygge , which the OED defines as: A quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being. While this sometimes-elusive state of being isn’t something you can buy direct from a store, and while some shoppers are still unfamiliar with hygge by name, many will be trying to create it at home this year. Need advice in optimising a Local Business website.

I am working on SEO for a local business website. The business is actually a cake shop located near Brooklyn. Here are the things that I've done on its on page SEO: Included proper keywords in Title, First paragraph, and in body of the page. Included alt text to images. Included proper Internal links in the webpage. Added Sitemap and robots.txt file Optimized Image size. The website was already pretty fast, so I didn't needed to much on that. Added proper schema markup The website is also mobile friendly. Now, Is there anything else I should do on its On-page SEO part, before moving to Off page SEO? Purchased a domain with lots of backlinks - will it improve SEO?

I have a new website with a domain ( abc.com ) which obviously very low ranking on search engines at the moment. I've also just purchased an expired similar domain ( abc1.com ) which has a birth year of 2005 and around 2000 backlinks. Aesthetically my preference is to keep abc.com however I assume there is a lot of SEO value in the abc1.com domain? Want to get peoples opinions of the following options? redirect abc1.com to abc.com (abc as the primary domain, is there any added SEO benefit?) change abc1 to the primary domain (any drawbacks?) and then use 'abc' as a redirect to 'abc1' on instagram/facebook etc. Would love some help on this! Is a website really necessary for SEO ?

I am a real beginner at SEO but I've said to one of my friend that I would help him rank up his society in google as I've got lot of free times. The thing is his society is a retailer of a big company that already have a page on their site for his shop but the page isn't quite optimize for SEO (not enough keywords,...) SEO REPORT TEMPLATE

Hi everyone, I am new to this seo field. I have a website and I also have access to Google analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush and Ryte subscription. All these tools surely give lots of information, analysis, and errors etc. My primary concern is what and how to show all this on an SEO report? Is there any template which I should fill out and feed it with all errors and warnings etc? How should I create a report? I am quite confused about it because on all the youtube videos and tutorials, everyone is showing how to extract information with tools. Domain suggestions for SEO

Hello! I have searched the internet but found a lot of mixed answers. I am making a blog/store for a niche field. But I wan't to start it off as a subdomain. This way I am better organized. A couple of months later, I will be introducing another niche (that's why I think subdomains are the best approach). And after that another. All of them are in the creative arts space. Filmmaking, music production, audio stuff like that. I just feel like hobby.mysite.com , hobby2.mysite.com and so on don't really have that company branding feel for each. But I also want some authority when I roll out these new sub domains. I was thinking about fowarding domains to another domain but I just don't know lol. Does anyone have suggestions? Small Page SEO help

Hi everyone, so I'm new to SEO and haven't made a webpage since I went to college 20 years ago. I have started a side business with a website and am trying to grow my rankings organically.
