Posting for u/Charming_Instance:
I’ve been seeing more and more SEO providers push monthly SEO packages lately, and I’m honestly curious how people here decide if they’re actually worth paying for or just another ongoing retainer.
From what I gather, monthly SEO services usually cover things like keyword research, on page optimization, backlinks, content updates, and tracking performance, since SEO rarely moves the needle from a single tweak.
The idea seems to be that steady work over time is what leads to real ranking and traffic improvements.
Conceptually, the monthly approach makes sense to me, because SEO is slow and competitive. What I’m less clear on is where the real value shows up. Some providers offer very structured, subscription style packages with fixed deliverables and pricing, while others seem to adjust what they do each month based on results and competition.
For anyone who has hired or managed monthly SEO packages, what actually mattered most in your experience? Was it having consistent work done every month, clear reporting, strong content, links, or something else?
Also curious what red flags you watch out for when someone is selling monthly SEO services.
