Is it worth changing blog URLs to include categories after being published?

We have a bout 150 blog posts on our website. We've been considering updating all URLs to include the category which each blog post topic best fits under. i.e. "/blog/example-category/blog-post-title" vs "/blog/blog-post-title" From an SEO perspective, having categories in the URL can be impactful in building topical authority. But given that we'd have to change all URLs and redirect the old URLs, is it really worth it? FYI, our posts currently do bring in a decent amount of monthly organic traffic. submitted by /u/figureditwastrue [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/wX4f30Z

Question about headings and keywords

Hi there, I have what might be a dumb question. I'm in the middle of doing a sample edit for a company I applied to as a copy editor. The test lists the keyword requirements, but I'm a bit unsure. Half the keywords can only be found in headers. Is that acceptable, or do I need to find a way to work them into the text body? I realize different companies have different rules. I'm just looking for the most common best practice, as neither their instructions or company style sheet mention keywords in headings. I don't want to just assume it's fine. Thank you to anyone who is willing to help! I appreciate it! submitted by /u/ArcaneAddiction [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/W2MT4Cy

What third-party CMS do you use?

I’m building a website with a blog and am trying to connect it to a CMS to host the posts but I can’t decide on which one. I really don't know how to create helpful content?

Prior to the Google Helpful Content Update, I was generating millions of organic visits per month. However, after the update, my traffic dropped to zero. The content that doesn't get any traffic on Google, when copied and posted without any changes on Quora, Reddit, or LinkedIn, ranks at the top of the search results like it used to. Similarly, I rank at the top on Bing, Yahoo, Yandex, and DuckDuckGo with this content. When I first posted on Reddit a few months ago, the content received over 100k views. On Pinterest, I started generating 2k clicks within a month. Regardless of this, Google says my content is not helpful and doesn't deserve a single click or impression. Do you think Google is 100% correct in this matter? submitted by /u/Mission-Historian519 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/J7wTvhc

How to sensibly say no to a client when it's due to personal reasons?

I received an SEO inquiry through my website, but due to my religious limitations, I don't work on mortgage projects. Strategizing for AI-powered search

I've seen a bunch of questions out there since yesterday's SearchGPT announcement about how to shift strategy and what the future of search looks like. I've been doing my own testing to see what's working and what isn't, but Search Engine Land just posted an article with 7 strategies to prep for the next evolution of search that I thought I'd share. The content strategy piece was by far the largest section of this entire article, which makes sense. Research and Intent Mapping : Understand what appears in AI Overviews and tailor your content accordingly. Content Strategy : Create diverse, authoritative, and fresh content. User Interactions and Click Data : Optimize based on user engagement metrics. Experience : Enhance user experience with personalization and CRO. Saturate SERPs : Aim for comprehensive SERP coverage. Data Quality and Schema Markup : Maintain high-quality, up-to-date data. Authority and Relevancy : Boost your brand's visibility and a...

Keyword Rank Fluctuation

Hi everyone I’m noticing that my key word rankings are fluctuating daily by like 20-30 positions and I’m wondering why? Sometimes they go up and sometimes down. I lost all SERP features placements (people also ask) on an important page. Why?

Hey team. I had a page completely call out of People also ask since June of last year. It went from 58 people also ask (specifically on my main branded KW) to ZERO! H2 Headers vs H3, H4, H5

Hi All, A website I am working on features one H1 on each page, but it is using H6 headers with a custom font as secondary headers, rather than using H2s. Does this affect SEO at all? I am worried Google isn't ranking the pages higher because it is viewing the secondary headers as not important since they are H6s. submitted by /u/bgap3446 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/M9qJ3Cy

GSC - Core Web Vitals

My Core Web Vitals for Mobile and Desktop in GSC says "need improvement." I'm checking the Google page score daily. Whie I know that for Mobile it is correct, for Desktop I pass the Core Web Vitals every day for a while. Does GSC have an issue with CWV updating data? I understand the figures are based on real average data. However, I think when I check it myself regularly and see the score is good, it should reflect the user visitor data, too. ? submitted by /u/easyedy [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/oxOyqTg

WP Kadence vs WP Blocksy for news website

Hello, I'm tired of the buggy themes on themeforest, with every update the traffic decreases and I can't even decide in the end which theme to stay on for a tech news website. I evaluated several themes, WP Astra, Kadence, blocksy and generatepress. At WP Astra , without knowing why, we no longer appear in google discover and we dropped in positions, it's an anomaly so we took it out of the equation. GeneratePress , I tested it but I can't get used to it, it's very difficult to work with this theme and I don't want to waste any more time. WP Kadence , I like how it looks, and it seems to be very fast. WP Blocksy is very popular and I see that it comes with updates quite often. I would like to know which would be the preferred theme for a news website, between Kadence and Blocksy, and why. I would like answers from people who are in google news and discover and who had a good experience with any of these themes. Thank you! View Poll submitted by ...

Advice needed: Ranking for new keyword without losing current ranking

Hi everyone. I'm looking for some advice on a challenge we're facing with our website: https://www.rafaelaziz.com . After working hard for the last 3-4 months, we've managed to rank #4 on Google for the keyword "designer socks." We're thrilled with this progress! However, we also want to rank for the keyword "dress socks”. My question is: if we use the same title, meta description, and blogging improvement tactics for "dress socks”, will we lose our ranking for "designer socks" while boosting our ranking for "dress socks"? Any insights, experiences, or advice on how to approach this without compromising our current ranking would be greatly appreciated! SEO AI writers that aren't a subscription

Unique images??

Hey everyone. I’m taking some free courses on SEO, one thing I keep hearing repeated is the importance of using Unique Images. My question is, it’s pretty cut and dry using a stock photo does NOT qualify as a unique image, and physically taking the photo IS a unique image, but what if you were to take 2 stock images, and edit them to create one image? For example, stock photo A is a photo of a pond, stock photo B is a photo of a duck, if i crop the duck from photo B and add it to photo A, does my new image now become a unique image? What if i just edited photo A without adding the duck? Sorry for the newbie question, google search didn’t yield any relevant answers and AI got confused. Brand search

One of my competitors is searched by users on Google. I am looking for a way to bring up a page from my website even by searching his name. For example, I want to create a page where I compare my brand with that of my competitor and use my competitor's name on that page. And SEO his brand name on my page. Also, I may have used his name for backlinks and linked to that page. Why not automate backlinks sale?

I got a good source for High DR 308 Redirect Backlinks. I offered them my clients and 9 out of 10 said directly yes. I got 400€ profit before taxes per client, and their sites took a nice lil boost (10 links per client). So why not sell these links on auto pilot with Google Ads? I saw that my competition just offers „too much“ - register for a marketplace, ask for offer, talking, meetings… why not just sell High Quality Backlinks in packages for a good price (with proof, feedbacks from clients)? It sound too easy for me and I wanna test it the next days with paids (we do SEO&SEA, Webdesign and Copywriting). What is SEO?

SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is the process of improving a website's visibility on search engine results pages (SERPs). The goal of SEO is to increase organic (non-paid) traffic to a website by enhancing its relevance and authority for specific search queries. Key components of SEO include: Keyword Research: Identifying the terms and phrases that potential visitors use when searching for products, services, or information related to the website. On-Page SEO: Optimizing individual web pages to rank higher and earn more relevant traffic. This includes optimizing content, meta tags, headers, images, and URLs. Technical SEO: Improving the website's backend structure and foundation. This includes site speed, mobile-friendliness, crawlability, and security. Off-Page SEO: Enhancing the website's authority and reputation through activities like backlink building, social media engagement, and online reputation management. Content Creation: Producing high-quali...

Keyword Cannibalization - Home Page and Product's page

Hi, I want to create a SEO strategy and I am stuck on this part - The home page basically talks about our most popular product, you can say it is our flagship product and we have a specific page for the same product as well. Why the infatuation with GSC over GA4?

I see a lot of posts mentioning (or directly related to) GSC, which makes sense in an SEO sub . However, I rarely see anyone mentioning GA4. To me, this makes no sense at all, since GA4 is the actual analytics tool that matters. I understand this is very personal, but I check GA4 every day and only check GSC if I see an anomaly in organic traffic to understand what happened. Otherwise, I couldn't care less. In these times, where traffic strategies are multifaceted and social media can bring even more traffic than organic search, or where organic traffic creates conditions for other websites to link to yours (hence you need to know the referral), keywords are just a part of a strategy. SEO is just a tool, the goal is traffic and money, not keywords. Furthermore, you may have conversion issues, events that don't work, user flows, and much other info you may need for your website that you'll never be able to track with GSC but can easily access in GA4. Maybe it's just...

Squarespace SEO Assistance Required

We are a Dubai based event management company, a start-up running for approximately five years. We initially built our website, osmiumevents.com on squarepsace, but did not focus on SEO (technical, on-page, off-page) and just built a platform to showcase our work. We now feel that because of lack of knowledge of SEO and not having implemented it, we do not rank anywhere near on the first page, and hence no incoming enquiries. We are looking for external assistance, someone who knows how squarespace SEO works and can do the basics right for us. I understand it's a long process, but we need to start in the right direction. Any tips, suggestions, help will be really appreciated! submitted by /u/Big-Writing7492 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/a2PAfjy

Does data from GMC show up in organic results?

If I am sending a feed to Google Merchant Centre which for example sends the availability for a product as “in stock” is this what is used in the organic search results or is it only shown in Google shopping? I have a product which isn’t on my Google merchant centre feed but is showing on Google with “in stock” likely from schema markup. Which prompts a further question. If the GMC data is used in organic results, which takes precedence, schema markup or the feed data? If anyone can shed some light on how GMC data interacts with organic results or has links to any useful resources, that would be great. submitted by /u/danger2manifold [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/vptrslU
