Over 50% of Local Business Websites Receive Less Than 500 Visits Per Month via @MattGSouthern

A study of Google Analytics for local businesses discovers benchmarks for websites across different industries. A site I have been working on has gone from 100, 200, to 500, to 800, to 1200, and not to 42,000 impresses in a day! Been working at this SEO for over a year and I am happy!

At first, I thought I was hacked but six months of quality backlink building, content creation, and site structure seem to be working. Another option is Google just fucked with their algorithm and it was my one day in the sun. Either way, I am in an SEO happy land. At first it was panic that I had been hacked, but instead some crazy impression increase. submitted by /u/SapientChaos [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/2DzRCkV

Image Scraping spam sites hotlinking my images

Anyone ever experienced this? and if you did how did you fix or prevent this. as the links are showing up on my Google search console. This is the reply i got from google webmaster community You're right. The site does not work for normal users, but Googlebot is fed pages that contain hotlinked images. This is cloaking, maybe to make it hard for the domain owner to detect they have been hacked. You can report them for spam. It was also suggested i disavow the links. But how do i stop these sites from hotlinking my images? Thank you. submitted by /u/Babadinho [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/2Y8d3TJ

Should all pages have a canonical tag (even when it just defaults to permalink, as per with Yoast when you leave the canonical tag field empty in the SEO settings in WP), or can you just remove the tag completely?

Hi guys Looking for a quick bit of advice of on this, as I can't find anything that specifically answers this question. I had a problem with a website where every page had two different canonical tags, as both the Yoast plugin and the WP page theme were creating canonical tags by default. I couldn't find a fix within WP settings, so passed it to my developer to fix. His solution was to remove all canonical tags from all pages, but I'm questioning if this is a suitable solution, should pages still have canonical tags, even if they just default to permalink, as per what Yoast does? At the momment, the site doesn't have any actual canonical links setup, and if these are required in the future, then as things stand this is something I will need the developer to provide a solution to. SEO for Student Rental Business with Multiple Houses - Is it better to have a single landing page for each property or one website featuring all properties?

Happy Turkey Hangover All! I'm in the middle of rebranding our DC property rental business and it's going to require a complete redesign of our current Wordpress site. While we currently enjoy a lot of good organic SERP "Juice" for our main domain, I'm considering building individual landing pages for each of our homes (each on their own separate domain). My objective is to grab more of the first page results for the niche keywords that we already rank well for. If we have a main domain that features these individual homes as well as individual sites for each home will Google consider this duplicate content and penalize us? Would you recommend Wordpress multi-site if I decide to do the separate landing pages for each home? Would Google penalize us if we use the same WP template for each of these landing pages? I'm a long time lurker of this sub and always enjoy learning from you all. Muchas gracias submitted by /u/redditreinvest [link] [comm...

SEO challenge - duplicate terms, same meaning

I'm really struggling with this: the proper term for my topic is "medical cannabis", but most people search for "medical marijuana" (even here in Canada). How can I make sure I cover both bases in my content? Do I stick with one term only or do I use some kind of convention like "medical cannabis | medical marijuana"? Advise on local SEO when no physical address.

Guys hi, could you please advise how to approach the following ? We do different types of tours in specific location (let’s call it “location”) and target keywords: location bicycle tours location walking tours location segway tours Neither we no our competitors have physical location at targeted area cause rent is very expensive (we just deliver bicycles / segways for the tour there) that’s why we currently do not have google places listing and just use google ads to bid on above mentioned KWs. Seeking some SEO advice

Hello everybody. I would like to ask you for advice on this one. I need to create a website to promote my freelancer services and I need to do it in English and Greek. 1) I would rather create a single page that you need to scroll down to that presents each separate content area, rather than a website with separate pages for each content area. Which option is best for SEO? 2) Is it better to create a separate language version in terms of CEO? I would rather write the Greek text and then the English translation directly underneath. Majority of traffic reporting as direct

Within analytics most of the traffic is being report as a direct referral whereas I think it is actually from one of my other sites. Both sites are HTTPS sites. I'm helping a friend with this so I'm not sure if it is HTTPS from Let's Encrypt or SSL By Default. I'm using the BuiltWith app to gain this data. The link on the site is setup as domain.com not as https://domain.com - does this matter? should the https be fully typed out on the website? - How about other instances such as email? I also think there should be more email referrals of which there are practically none. This is why I think the issue is a HTTPS/HTTP one. I'm sort of thinking all domain.com links are directed to http for some reason which then auto-directs https. When domain.com should bypass http and go straight to https (not redirect from). How do I bypass this http? or am I totally confused? submitted by /u/DidAnyoneReadThis [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: ...

Is it possible to rehabilitate a domain previously used for porn?

I recently spent almost four figures on a domain that I felt was undervalued, but had I done my research I might have thought again. It's a DA50 .com domain that should have decent appeal in an active niche, but... it's link profile is pretty grim, 2000-odd referral visits today, 404s to pornographic videos it was hosting. It doesn't read like a porn domain but I believe it was a Mega or WeTransfer competitor back in the day, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was shut down. Can I rehab this domain? As an authority domain it's proving effective - I optimised for some keyphrases in the niche and it ranked nicely. My plan is to build a brand around it and produce solid content in the niche, try to generate a bit of ad and affiliate link revenue before flipping the domain, but I'm not sure there's any way back since it has such a sketchy history? I'd welcome any insight, even if it's to tell me I'd have been better using the cash to pay for Christ...

These are the things that I want it to do. You don't need a keyword tool

If you didn't know go to google and start typing in your query and it will show variations of this. And you can check the searches related to at the bottom of the page too. I feel like someone is always sending me to some tool to check it out or whatever. For example, some have suggested ubersuggest or keywordtool.io or recently I found answerthepublic but every time I go there they don't show me anything that I haven't seen by just going to google and typing in the keyword and playing around with autosuggest. I've played around with other tools and they just seem to be a waste of time to me. I like Brian Dean and Neil Patel and I've learned quite a bit from them, but I feel like they are always referring me to some tool to check out and then I get there and don't really find much of anything interesting. Maybe these tools can help some people, but I don't really see them as all that advanced. submitted by /u/1rub [link] [comments] from Se...

Make Your Site Show In Other's Analytics (Direct)

Hi, I realize this may be a beginner question. I am a writer first and a student of SEO second. I want other sites to know how much traffic I am giving them through my articles. How can I get traffic from my article to show up as "Direct - mydomainname" instead of "Direct - none" in THEIR analytics? I have a UTM link builder program (utm.io), which I am learning to use but I'm not sure if that only works for MY analytics (to track outbound traffic) or if they would have to build their own links for inbound traffic. Or does it work for both? Can someone confirm my UTM builder suspicion, or redirect me to the correct way to do this (if there even is one)? Think something is wrong - need help / ideas

I have a new site I've been developing. The keywords I am targeting are fairly competitive - say 60-70 out of 100. I've run speed tests and I am better than all the sites on page 1 - many by a good margin. On page SEO scores from a variety of free services are better than all but one of the sites on page 1. Over the past 2-3 weeks I've found some good / relevant blogs and have been able to comment and get a number of links, I've linked from an older website I own, contributed to a couple wikihows, set up Google Search Console and registered my sitemap with Google, Bing and all the small search engines. My site is new and the domain is less than 3 months old. My social accounts for the site are new and don't have many followers. Semrush, Search Console and one or two other free services don't show any backlinks - though I know they are there and I can google the link text and find them. At this point the new site doesn't even show up in a search, even thou...

I own an e-commerce that ranks 3rd in Google search but still has 0 views

Hi, first of all sorry for my broken english, not my native tongue. I'm a newbie with SEO but I built an ecommerce selling T shirts of famous political slogan in my country. If I Google "accessories (name of political figures)" my website shows up as 3rd result. But I still get 0 daily views. I'm pretty sure now I've chosen dead Keywords, or Keywords no one searches for, but what can I do now if I still believe this idea could sell? Webpage not showing up on Google

Hello all, I am working on trying to direct more traffic to my wife’s new website. I registered the site with Google search console, uploaded the site map. I know I can’t expect many hits right now, as I don’t have any back links, but I can’t even search for the exact name of the website and have it show up on google. All that shows is the Facebook page associated with the website/business. Any thoughts? Website is breezybycaitlin.com. Do "

The list can be anything, such as "best products for x that have been developed in 2019". My argument is since it's almost the end of the year, the list has the potential to include the best content that happened in 2019. And until q2 2020 the article will remain relevant because people are still going to visit the article due to the same argument, - the new list can't be populated for 2020 yet. What do you guys think? Edit: Just to clarify, I'm already seeing people doing 2020 lists and that's why I'm asking. submitted by /u/npmbad [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/37IfBMN

Help: Different search results Chrome App Android vs Chrome Address Bar

I've been doing a lot of SEO work lately, specifically trying to understand shifts in guides for a video game website. Typically, we rank high. Our on-page SEO is sound and similar to our competitors. Additionally, our content is of similar caliber as our competitors. I've noticed that our content ranks differently based on searching for it using the Chrome App for Android versus using the Chrome address bar at the bottom of my Android phone. Is there a logic that contributes to this, either from Google's perspective or how we are arranging and creating content? For example, on the Chrome App for Android, I can perform a more organic search and return a guide in question within the top 3 results. However, I cannot use the same search term in the Chrome address bar at the bottom of the screen and return the same results. In fact, I cannot find the article in question at all. Further compounding confusion, a competitor's site ranks in the 0 and 1 position on page 1 fo...

How I Turn My Website Visitors Into Subscribers

"How do I capture my website visitors?" should always be at the back of your mind. All the effort you put in bringing traffic through organic and paid means goes to waste if you don't have the means to capture them. There are multiple ways to capture visitors. I have a couple of them implemented on my own website. 👉 Newsletter Signups I have this only on my homepage. Anyone who signup through it gets free access to paid content on my site and a welcome bonus ebook. I email this list once or twice a week. 👉 Push Notifications I have a Digital Marketers News page on my website. I cover latest updates and trends on different platforms under it. I enable an option for my website visitors to subscribe to push notifications if they would like to receive alerts on new updates. 👉 Chatbots I prefer using Chatbots to give away free resources to my website visitors. I love the automation that's involved. I use Manychat to capture both subscribers and their emails. I ...

Importance and relevance of backlinks

My company is ending a marketing relationship with another company. One thing they've been doing to boost our SEO is creating advertisement pages with various domains with the same base domain. For instance, my domain is abcompany.com and they'll create summersale.abcompany.com. We have about 5 to 10 of those that will go away. First, how effective are domains with your domain in them as backlinks? Does Google recognize them as unique domains or your domain? Second, are 5 to 10 backlinks significant? We're not getting much traffic off them. Thanks submitted by /u/icemanvr6 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/2OoTgfD

As an app developer, what can I do to generate more mobile web traffic?

I am a developer of a mobile application. Together with my team, we set up a website where people can learn more about the app and download it. However, it is not the app itself but the articles published on the website (thematically related to our application) that generate the biggest traffic. It’s ok, the real problem is that most of our users visit our website/read the articles in the desktop version. What it means is that it is twice as difficult for us to make them download the app. Do you have any ideas on how we could increase the mobile web traffic, instead of the desktop one? submitted by /u/milof [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/34pvANP
