Does anyone know of a Chrome extension that allows you to see the headers (H1-H6) of the results from the SERP?

What the question says. I currently use "Detailed SEO Extension", which allows me to see the headers if I am inside the page. I would love to have some extension that allows you to collapse or expand the headers of each result being in the SERP. submitted by /u/carlpaul153 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/l8XrNoQ

Google Search Console reporting issue with News performance report

Google Search Console’s News performance report had a logging error which may have resulted in displaying a drop in impression and clicks from Google News. Google said this was just a reporting glitch and it had no real impact on how your site was ranking or serving in Google News. The notice. Google posted this notice here stating “Because of a logging error, site owners might see a drop in their Google News data during this period. This is just a logging error and not a real drop in Google News performance.” Timeframe impacted. The timeframe where Google had this logging error was between May 12, 2022 through May 26, 2022. Why we care. If you have or will provide clients with reporting, keep in mind the News performance report had logging issues for about half of the month of May. Make sure to annotate this logging error and communicate this to your clients and stakeholders. Custom organic source in GA

A property in GA has an organic source set to the name of the agency that previously managed my client’s SEO. (Ie, we have google /organic, bing /organic, etc. and then also "agency-name" / organic under the Source /Medium view in GA traffic). I looked at the settings in GA (admin - tracking info - organic search sources) to see if they set up that source as a custom organic source, but it is not there. The source is still tracking (it has been for 2 years). Anyone know where else I can look to find how this custom source was configured? submitted by /u/Competitive_Aerie848 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/vwSCIJg

How can I check if my site has indexing problems?

hi guys, I have a fresh website (6 months old) and have started putting in content (around 10 articles) as good in quality as I could 2 months ago: Initially if I searched on Google "site:[SITE ROOT]/" I got 16 results which was consistent with the total number of pages on the site 1 month ago: Recently though, when I do the same search it shows me 4 results only (the home page and 3 of the articles). Checking specific pages by "site:[PAGE URL]" (other than the 4 results) returned no indexed results I've been checking GSC for any reported issues, but do not see anything wrong 1 week ago: Most pages started appearing in the "site:[PAGE URL]" search, but still not in the "site:[SITE ROOT]/" would really appreciate any tips/hints to help me figuring out if I have a real problem with the site, John submitted by /u/psd-dude [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/Zd4ohgn

Can I find ALL the keywords a site is ranking for in a specific city?

I know I can use a tool like SEMrush to find every keyword a site is ranking for nationally. And I can use the same tool to find out where I rank for specific keywords in a city or county. My backlink outreach is hyperspecific, how to optimize?

Hey folks! I'm working on developing a solid campaign to get my client a few backlinks via outreach, primarily. We've already earned a few organically, which is nice. Just want to get some more intentional, high-quality ones. The tricky thing is I'm a one-person team and I only have about five hours every other week (if that much) to work with. I've already got a few outreach templates ready, but the most time-consuming thing is qualifying candidates* for outreach and personalizing emails. I feel that I'm a bit hyperspecific in my approach, so I'm looking for ways to optimize. I plan on having one initial outreach email + 1-2 follow-ups per candidate. -- * By qualifying candidates, I mean those that meet some or all of these criteria: High priority: Share a target audience/audience overlaps or is adjacent to ours Expert, authority, or other leader in the community or relevant scientific discipline Mandatory: Have an active blog/newsletter/social media...

Could a single article about porn tank my entire website?

Small blogger, website only has about 200 posts. My niche / entire website is technically for adults but is pretty G rated for the most part. That said, a lot of people in the niche would be interested in a very specific genre of porn. I kind-of want to write 1 article about the best porn sites for the genre. And these totally legit porn sites (as legit as porn sites go) happen to have pretty awesome looking affiliate programs as well so there’s a real financial incentive to write the article. There’d be no dirty words, no bad images in the article. But it would mention and link out to several porno sites. I’m wondering if this is a terrible idea to be avoided at all costs or if people think my website would survive it? submitted by /u/icpooreman [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/jTmp3J8

SEO impact of a complete website redesign and rewrite?

I've got website with moderate traffic (150,000 sessions per month) and it ranks quite highly for a few hundred terms. I'm currently in the process of converting the website from vanilla HTML/CSS to React/Next.js which also involves changing the content and redesigning every page. I'm keeping the URL structures and titles mostly the same and adding 308 redirects where necessary. Could this have a negative impact on SEO? What can I do to minimise this impact? submitted by /u/9zer [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/NK5wLGl

BACKSTORY: So, my friend told me someone claimed his .com domain and used for marketing blog. This is NOT the problem. He just moved on and bought new domain. Totally new domain, not just another tld of the old one. I removed everything in his file manager and setup a brandnew wordpress site for him. After completing the site, i also set a meta title, desc and tags, schema and sitemap for him. And submitted to google and also created google search console account. Am I seeing blackhat seo affecting my site?

Hi everyone, I'm not sure if I'm being paranoid but is it possible that someone can drive your CTR down? I noticed I had a visit from xtraffic.plus on the 25th, then on the 26th and possibly yesterday, search console showed a big uptick for impressions of the exact KW's I'm using (and I mean exact), with zero clicks. More FAQ rich results being displayed in Google Search

Google Search seems to be displaying more FAQ rich results in its search results over the past few days. Both RankRanger’s tracking tool and some SEOs are noticing this increase in the number of times a site is showing FAQ rich results. What are rich result FAQs.  Web pages that have a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) that contain a list of questions and answers pertaining to a particular topic can markup the questions and answers with FAQ  structured data . Google may then show those FAQs in the search results snippets as illustrated below: More showing. Google is now showing these FAQ rich results five percentage points more often according to RankRanger, who happened to be recently acquired by Similarweb. Here is the data chart showing the uplift: SEOs like Brodie Clark and Glenn Gabe noticed the increase too on clients they have access to: The most effective way to review this change is via Semrush. Trying to decide on a content writing software (SurferSEO, WriterZen, Frase, etc.)

I'm a developer without too much experience in SEO or writing content. Now I'm building an application and blog in a niche that I'm really passionate about, and I'm looking for tools to help me with my SEO so I can get more traffic. I know the niche topic well, but I need help determining what keywords to target, what competitors are writing about, and how to effectively write about the topic. This is where tools like SurferSEO, WriterZen, Frase, Postpace, Dashword, etc. seem to be perfect. However, I'm having an awful time trying to figure out which one to go for. Features I do care about are: content optimization (like a WYSIWYG editor with recommended keywords/density, wordcount, etc) and topic/keyword/competitor research. Features I don't care about: A.I writing, recommendations/optimizations are great but I don't want something to write content for me. SurferSEO seems like the go-to option. Backlinks (New to Digital Marketing)

Hi everyone. I'm very new to digital marketing and have been studying everything from SEO, to Paid Ads, to CRM, etc. One thing that has stumped me lately is gigs on places like Fiverr, where people are selling services for 1000+ backlinks. From everything I have learned so far, I don't see how that's possible. At least not in "white hat" terms. Are those gigs something that would screw a page / creator over if they are looking to get ranked or pull in organic follows either on YouTube, Google, etc? I want to, at some point, pull in some work by doing SEO for people, but don't want to screw them over if that's something I end up learning). Thanks in advance! I can't really find anything on it on my own. submitted by /u/Prestigious_West_165 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/zPiUdnw

4 elements of good content, according to Google research

Good content, above all, is all about the story. That’s according to new research from Google and Talk Shoppe, a research agency. Google wanted to find out how viewers determine the quality of content.  Why we care. While the findings of Google’s research are geared toward visual content (specifically: YouTube), the broad lessons can be applied to any type of content you create.  Good content has four elements: 1. Relevant. People want content relevant to their interests. But they also want content that is created by approachable and relatable creators.  Key stat: 80% of people are more open to advertising or branded content when the content is relevant to them.  2. Intellectual. People want content that introduces them to new things. This includes brands. What types of content? It could be an educational series, a how-to or a product review. Key stat: 88% of people said YouTube helped expand their perspectives or ways of thinking. Is this statistic...

Is Google Search showing fewer sitelinks

Google Search seems to be showing fewer sitelinks in the search results. Google would show as many as six sitelinks per search result snippet, now Google seems to be showing a maximum of four sitelinks and often just two sitelinks. What are sitelinks. Sitelinks are links from the same domain that are clustered together under a web result. Google Search said it “analyzes the link structure of your site to find shortcuts that will save users time and allow them to quickly find the information they’re looking for” in the search results. What changed. Google seems to have changed to a vertical format for large sitelinks and is only showing up to 4 sitelinks. Duplicate content spanning multiple URLs

Hi there, I'm a marketing professional for a food manufacturing company. We have multiple brands with different domains, the problem is, we have our umbrella domain which for the sake of not saying where I work, we'll call Site A. Site A houses all of our products and has product pages for items featured on separate domains that we'll call Site B and Site C. What I'm wondering is, say I want a product that is branded from Site B, to be the top result, but I want to add a page to Site C with the same product, thus likely having the same meta description. If I make that product page on Site C, I'm concerned that it may outrank what is already established on Site B. Is this likely? Or is there a way to avoid it? It's not a necessary page, but it would help to advertise this product on Site C since it's for a store (that we own) rather than the production company as a whole. If it's going to cause issues, I just won't make this new page. But interested...

Crawled - currently not indexed. Some list items are now almost a year old

The usual advice is to ignore Google Search Console's " Crawled - currently not indexed" and accept pages that end up here will be indexed eventually unless there is something wrong with them. Today I visited this category for the first time in ages - there are always more pressing problems to deal with. I found there are pages that are crawled and still not indexed almost a year after they were crawled. The most recent are five months old. 18 of my pages have this status. Each of the pages appears in the sitemap and is accessible through other links on my site - although possibly not enough other links. If I test the live URL they look fine. Google's documentation says there is no point submitting these pages. What is going on here? Is there another way to wake up these pages and get them indexed? submitted by /u/billbennettnz [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/XVrEhFy

I Just Got My First #1 Ranking Ever!

The other day I was running my ranking reports for the monthly SEO follow-up I do with some of my clients, and I noticed some updates had taken place on the landscaping business I had been working with for the last three months. Some were positive and some were negative but then it had caught my eye that I had officially moved into the #1 position for the term "landscaping companies (insert city)". I almost jumped out of my seat I was so happy to see that all the work I had been putting into the website was starting to pay off. Granted it's a small city with lower levels of competition but this is my first time ever receiving an official number #1 ranking and while there's still much more to improve on I think I might have to crack a cold one in celebration. submitted by /u/RecLeagueHero24 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/CscxSPi

Instagram username: Prefix bad for search results?

Hello, I was wondering if adding things like "iam, real, official, its etc." in front of your username reduce visibility in search results. And furthermore: Do things like dots and underscore have a negative effect on search results? I know this is a platform specific question but I think it still fits under the term SEO. This question popped up when I was trying to search for a famous youtuber and it was really hard to find him. When I found him I saw he added "real" in front of his regular name. Does 301 Redirecting Old Domain to New Domain Transfer Algorithmic Penalty?

I changed the name of my business back in 2017 and obtained a new domain. I never did 301 redirects from the old domain to the new one. I am considering doing that now but I back in 2012 I got hit with what I believe were both manual and algorithmic penalties. Google Search Console doesn’t show any issues on the old domain and I believe any bad links were disavowed back in 2012 for the old domain. I’m considering 301 redirecting the pages on the old site to the new one. The old domain does rank ok for some terms and has a much higher DA than the new one. Would it be better to just add a site wide link that links people to the new site or to just 301 the individual pages from the old site to the new one? Do I run the risk of passing along any old algorithmic or resolved manual penalty? Or should I be pretty safe? (For context: he wants to do an article about someone who discriminates against others but he wants to be careful showing that person's name.) submitted by /u/sarrcom [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/s5J7xE6

Buying another domain to increase Domain Authority on your website?

Hi SEO folks, I wonder if anybody had experience buying another website that has a good Domain Authority, and redirecting it (with 301) to your own website, in order to increase Domain Authorty for your own website? Having those 2 websites to be around the similar topics/keywords. Do you have any insight on that approach? submitted by /u/dshmitch [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/0zepfsM

The average position is wrong in Search Console

I am ranking for a keyword that Google Search Console says the AVP Average Position is 43 when SemRush and doing a manual check-in Incognito and using a VPN shows that I am ranking #4 on page One . Have anyone experienced the same? This is bad when doing the reporting for the client. He will always believe Google is correct and SemRush is wrong. How can this happen, please help. I have a report to submit to the client soon. submitted by /u/Rivers_BTC [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/i7yFUK1

Outreach issues.

My team prepared a high-quality PR. We sent it to the relevant journalists. However, no one has responded or even read our email although the PR is creative and interesting. How can we overcome these issues? submitted by /u/Galous97 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/qfcI4XS

Technical Question

Woocommerce, by default, assigns a ‘no follow’ value to both add to cart and select options links. Add to cart I don’t care about, but the select options buttons is a big deal. You cannot change it in any settings. Can someone please help me find a snippet of code that can change the nofollow attribute to a follow? submitted by /u/TheFattyFatt [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/u95M6Im

Bing - Webmaster Tools SEO Report

I have an established site that has been getting great traffic for a few years now. However, Bing traffic is lower than it should be. I'm using the Bing Webmaster Tools to debug, and it shows a number of "High Severity Errors". Could the following errors be so severe they are kicking me out of search results? Error #1 = "The Description is too long or too short." Error #2 = "The <h1> tag is missing" Error #3 = "There are multiple <h1> tags on the page" These seem super minor to me, especially the first one since they'll truncate the description if its too long. Trying to figure out if these are the reason Bing gives me ~1 click a day while other search engines are massively higher. submitted by /u/HandmadePanPizza [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/JEt9rCu

hiding the free content in the footer?

Hi everyone. Let's say I have a website that gives piano lessons. The website sells a membership with piano courses from beginners to advanced level. But it also has a free content section that has at least as much content as the paid section. What would you do regarding the menus? 1. Have the free lessons in the main menu and risk losing paying customers (when they see there is so much free content, will they still want to pay?) Or 2. Kind of 'hide' the free lessons menu in the footer? submitted by /u/Al-Mighty [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/P5n37l2

Google search results spam for ‘Bill Slawski obituary’ shows the dark side of SEO

We reported yesterday the sad news that Bill Slawski has died . It’s less than 24 hours later and no actual obituary has been published (either by a news site or funeral home). Yet, Google’s search results are littered with spammy results. Look at what is ranking on a Google search right now for [bill slawski obituary]: This is a horror, especially for anybody seeking trustworthy information on Slawski. To me, this SERP looks like Google, before the Panda Update , for certain queries where content farms reigned. That’s the easiest way to describe it.  A ton of low-quality websites have created thin content with the sole purpose of optimizing it to rank whenever someone searches for an obituary for Bill Slawski. And they are monetizing whatever traffic they get through display ads. What’s worse – there are many of these types of sites. And these sites have one thing in common: the content reads like it was either automatically generated or written (poorly) by people whose fir...

Adding a pdf to a page?

I sell a large, long term brand of supplements. For some products, the company designs a 2 page client handout pdf. Some doctors have these pdfs published on their site - and maybe 20% of the time - these pdfs rank on the first page of search results. The pdf documents are all original writing, no duplicate content on product pages. Q = Would adding these client handouts to my pages show the search engine that I have more relevant, keyword targeted text and potentially increase my rankings? OR Would the search engines not be able to read or evaluate the text? Thus having little to no effect on ranking? Is there a way to rank for an English keyword for a specific country?

For example suppose we take the following keywords: "pythagoras theorem" "maths exam paper" Is there any difference in the SERP for someone googling these keywords from Singapore, UK, USA, Australia, India, etc.? In the case of "maths exam paper" the search intent would most likely be for exam papers of some national board in their country. Does Google account for this? Suppose there is an Australian website which offers resources for the Australian examination board and an UK website which offers resources for the UK examination board. How can these websites drive traffic specifically from their respective countries when they are competing for the same keyword? submitted by /u/lewz3000 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/GdpCwHS
