Can I have my business show up on Google Maps without allowing reviews?

Recently started a business offering an extremely high demand niche service. I'm already booked out for months and have no problem attracting customers. One problem I've started running into is that I have not yet set up a Google My Business account so customers are repeatedly asking me to resend my office address to them. I have not set up a Google business account yet because as of now, there is no possible way for customers to leave bad reviews for me and yet I have zero problem attracting customers (seems like the best of both worlds). But is there a way to have my office location physically on Google Maps without allowing reviews? Core Web Vitals vs Page Speed Insights

I just noticed in GSC that my desktop CWVs for 90% of my URLS fell from green to yellow recently due to LCP loading. However, Pagespeed Insights shows 90-100 ratings across the board for desktop and mobile. So I'm really not sure what to trust here. Anyone experienced this? What did you do? submitted by /u/coconutmonkfish [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/akK0o1w

Transition to GA4

Does anybody have an instructional document or maybe a step by step guide for clients transitioning into GA4? I want to put something together for clients because I am extremely skeptical of them letting Google just auto transition everything (could cause issues down the road). Wondering if anybody has something like that they would be willing to share? What do you all think of Diib?

Been using this tool for a few months and although it isn't too bad bringing all the data I need to one interface, I'm not too impressed with the keyword research and their "RankGuard" feature. Twitter could grant free verification to its top 500 advertisers and 10k most-followed organizations

Twitter intends to impose a $1,000 monthly verification fee on organizations but will exempt its top 500 advertisers and the 10,000 most-followed organizations with prior verification, as per an internal document acquired by The Times . The document also indicates that all accounts purchasing verification will undergo a review to ensure they are not engaging in impersonation. Why we care. Musk’s plans to charge organizations for verification could potentially impact their social media marketing strategy. A verification badge would typically be a valuable tool for businesses as it helps to establish their legitimacy and credibility on the platform. It indicates that their account is authentic, and helps to build trust with their audience. If Twitter is now charging for verification, it may make it more difficult for smaller or emerging businesses to obtain the badge, which could affect their ability to attract and retain followers. Additionally, the fact that Twitter is making excep...

Gender pay gap persists: Men earn 26% more than women in search marketing

In (not) a shocking twist, men earn an average of 26% more than women in search marketing, according to a new Search Engine Land survey. In particular, men earn significantly more than women in senior positions.  Additionally, the data revealed that women were more likely to have changed jobs or received promotions more recently than men, highlighting the ongoing churn in the job market.  This article will dive deeper into the survey’s key findings, examining the implications for professionals and organizations in the surveyed regions. Overall, men earned 26% more than women. Despite advances in gender equality and the growing number of highly competent and qualified female marketing professionals, it remains a pervasive problem.  Men: $105,250 Women: $83,265  These results, based on a sample size of 267 individuals, suggest that gender pay inequality remains a persistent issue in the surveyed regions. This pay gap can be attributed to a combination of ...

Google may be testing a new feature to highlight authors in search results.

Google is testing a new feature to highlight authors in search results. This feature, called "Perspectives," shows a card-like box that appears below the search result snippet and provides more information about the author of the content. The "Perspectives" box includes the author's name, picture, and a short bio describing their expertise and credentials. The box also includes links to the author's other content, such as their social media profiles and other written articles. This feature appears to be in testing and is unavailable for all search results. It is unclear when or if Google will roll out this feature to all users. However, if this feature is implemented, it could provide more context and credibility to search results, especially for articles that cover complex topics or controversial issues. The report also notes that this feature could benefit content creators by increasing their visibility and helping them establish themselves as authorit...

Search marketers earn anywhere from $60,000 to $220,000 in annual compensation (salary and bonuses), on average, according to a new Search Engine Land survey.  Why we care. How much traffic do you get from a "position #1" ranking in 2023?

Googles paid ads take up a huge chunk of real estate, then there are the local results, followed by "People also ask" commonly searched questions, THEN you have the organic results. Odd results of core update

I have a website that was doing quite well, a lot of organic traffic and growing week to week. After the google core update, my traffic dropped 90% literally overnight. If you look at the Google Analytics, it literally all occurred within one hour at 2AM. I initially thought that Google may have flagged my site and removed it from search, simply because the fall was so quick and severe. But there are no manual actions, security issues, or other red flags. Mobile score is still 95%+ and my pagespeed rank is 90-100 across all categories. There are no new backlinks either, good or toxic. Over the last few days, traffic has slowly trickled back and I'm now down about 80% from my pre-core update numbers, BUT the odd thing is that now ALL of my traffic is only coming to the first page ever posted on my site. No other page, out of the hundreds of pages on my site, are getting any traffic at all, and I literally mean zero. It's all on one page, the very first one. As if that's t...

Moz rankings export is creating duplicate keywords

I can't create a direct data pull from Moz to data studio, so I have been exporting the rankings from Moz and putting them into a Google sheet and then pulling that sheet data into data studio. Problem is when I export my 126 keywords from Moz, the cvs has like over 1,000 keywords in it and they duplicate a ton, but not all. How do I stop Moz from adding in the duplicate keywords when exporting? Google Ads testing verification badges

Google is experimenting with displaying blue badge icons and labels on certain search ads for advertisers who have been verified by Google Ads. The blue label features a blue circle with ridges and a checkmark inside it. This is part of Google’s ongoing advertiser verification program, and it appears that the company is now testing the use of small blue checkmarks for verified advertisers. Spotted in the wild. Internal linking.

My client uses H3 tags for non content headers like : contact us, more info, social media links, and also the footer topics.

I wanted to know if using H3 tags everywhere was not advisable. Like we have a footer, where there's an H3 tag for "Follow us on" and then the social media links. It's.like this for every information. Should we suggest them to remove these? submitted by /u/Ashwin_or_lose [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/ZIReL3a

Google Search Console not loading properly.

Do Anchorlinks Help in Any Way?

I usually shoot for a few internal links per page/post, but I'm creating a glossary of terms for a page, and was considering making an anchor link for each letter of the alphabet so it's easy to hop to that section. Do more Keywords = WHAT exactly?

I have a Wordpress Site for my small niche business in California ... I used SpyFu to see that a couple of my competitors have way more keywords than I do. Their sites are Wordpress Theme site with five pages, my is over 100 pages, but mostly brand new pages - within the last few months. Should I be concerned over their 'keyword' superiority? what are your thoughts on creating a url hierarchy for pillar-cluster content?

What kind of SEO help do I even need?

I’m a new small business owner (private psychotherapy practice) trying to figure out SEO. I do therapy specifically for LGBT and neurodivergent people, and there are a few major players in my area that seem to rank for all the major related keywords. I contacted an agency that specializes in SEO for therapists, and they said they don’t work with anyone whose budget is less than 30k per year. Currently my total operating budget is 24k per year. I assume 30k per year means they’d support with creating content, but I genuinely like writing content, and could reasonably come up with two blog posts per week. I currently pay for a Google ad that I manage myself and gets decent results. Google My Business is set up. I’m actually enthusiastic about learning SEO and find it fascinating. However, I have no idea if I’m doing anything right. I’m not confident that taking the right course would mean I’d be doing it right. I’m not even sure I’d pick the right course, or just waste my money. What...

Google Panda patent granted In 2014, a patent ( Ranking search results ) written by Google’s Navneet Panda and Vladimir Ofitserov – possibly describing the Google Panda algorithm update , or parts of it – was granted. However, the fact that Google was granted this patent didn’t necessarily mean it was being used by Google at the time, or that it hadn’t been modified since the application was filed.  Read all about it in Google Granted Patent For Panda Algorithm and dive deeper into Bill Slawski’s Google’s Panda Granted a Patent on Ranking Search Results and Is Ranking Search Results the Panda Patent? on SEO by the Sea. And here’s the patent. In short, it was about looking at inbound links and how many search queries were made about a particular page/resource, and it modified the “initial scores” for the pages/resources being ranked. Slawski explained the patent had many parts that worked together: Determining, for many groups of resources, a count of independent incoming ...

SEMrush says volume of 20, Ahrefs says 700. Which to trust?

Hi all, I found a keyword I'd like to rank for with a blog post. I have a therapy private practice with a niche focus, so I don't need super high volume posts. That being said, SEMrush said the keyword's volume is 20 per month, while Ahrefs said the volume is 700 per month. Which would you trust? I've heard that Ahrefs often understimates, but that doesn't make sense with these numbers.
