Is Google actively messing with search at the moment??

Hey all. One of my blogs had a traffic drop after the new algo. I just noticed that today - out of no where it went down by another 15-20 placings and nothing has changed. The ranking for many of the sites for my main keywords seem to have actually changed today. submitted by /u/Interesting_Gate8570 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/wVnCki0

SEMRush Listings (Yext) Disappeared

Anyone experience this? I am managing 30 locations, each with 60+ citation sites with NAP. As of today each location is only showing 5 citation sites. I wouldn’t say that’s worth $20/month per location! submitted by /u/BradCloonie [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/NTAQt8c

301s, wildcard URL folder/subfolder matching & SEO impact question

Long-time reader, first time question. We have a major web transition coming soon (one generation to another) and our URL structure is changing. Of course, we'd like to ensure keep our SEO through transition. We understand the best practice is to have 301s that link from the prior URL to the new URL. However, we have approximately 1k pieces of content that require 301s. AWS server limits are 100. Wildcards are one tactic we can use to overcome this limitation. For instance, we could cut the list from nearly 1000 to several dozen by simply redirecting all traffic from /old-folder/old-sub-folder/content-name to /new-folder/content-name, no matter the actual content name. However, we’re unsure as to whether the use of wildcards instead of using specific /old-folder/old-subfolder/content name => /new-folder/content-name will result in negative SEO impacts. Would it? Any thoughts here? Thanks so, so much! submitted by /u/DC-DS [link] [comments] from Search Engine Opt...

What's your take on Google leaks "do a search then direct type in your website" ?

I've read on multiple blog if you do a search for keyword X, then direct type in your websites name, Google would connect this new direct type in to the keyword search that was done previously. If this is true Im gonna expect a lot of Make and Zapier. What do you think of Wix (from an SEO point of view)?

Hi everyone, what do you think of Wix's SEO capabilities (those who have actually tried it)? For my part, I've created many sites on Wix and I find that they rank very well on Google (I've placed my clients first on very competitive niches), I've of course overtaken Wordpress sites and others (but I know that it's not the CMS that makes good SEO or not). I'd like feedback from the community to find out if Wix has a better image than before, because I know there were rumors that Wix sites had very bad SEO but my experience has never confirmed that, have you? submitted by /u/fr3nchs30l0v3r [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/oQsnJUf

WP siteground advice

Hey guys! I am a webflow developer but for one of my clients, I will have to use Wordpress and iam currently considering in getting WP siteground to host and design my site? Has anyone used this platform before? Iam most interested in the negative aspects of this platform (and positive if you have any) and what to look out for. Iam a bit more familiar with Elementor but it seems a bit sketchy and an overkill for what I will be building. Putting the same blog on different pages

Say you work in the cleaning industry. And you want to start blogging to improve your websites ranking, would it hurt to put that content on other websites too? As in, I put a blog post "Cleaning granite surfaces" ony my webpage and I copy paste it over to my reddit and quora account (as they seem to be taking over lately), would that hurt? It would probably get marked as not special enough to rank the page high as other pages have it too or not? submitted by /u/Status_Orchid_4405 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/kW2VTiP

The mysterious SEO guy who linked to us!

Hey everyone, I noticed something interesting recently and wanted to get your thoughts on it. A cheaply made, mass-produced AI (spammy) blog had a dofollow backlink to our site. Initially, I didn't think much of it since the site had zero traffic and used AI-generated images. After about two months, I noticed on Ahrefs that he stopped creating more backlinks to our site (our his AI tool), although we had received 20-30 backlinks from this site before from time to time. When I looked into their SEO data again, I was shocked: in just two months, their traffic shot up to 600k visitors and they ranked for 150k keywords! Here’s the kicker: about a week ago, someone emailed us with an offer to buy our blog. We declined, but then I checked the imprint of the site and found out it was the operator of the spammy blog. He has since bought several small sites with 2-10k monthly traffic and redirected their best articles to his blog using 301 redirects. It seems he also bought a ton of ...

Help: What is my pillar page?

Quick question! I’m looking to implement a hub and spoke / pillar page content to my website, from which I sell several online services with different topics I have made various blog posts about each of my services. How many backlinks do you build as a freelancer? (Per month)

Sooo I know this absolutely depends on the client, but I’m just curious to know what you guys think. How many backlinks do you build per month? I’ve worked at an agency where some clients want 10 per market (if they have 5 then it’s 50 per month) and some clients wanted 100 per market (they had 7 markets so 700 links) and now as a freelancer who puts in 20h/week I came up with an offer to make 50-90 (90 being the max maybe can push for 100). Ranking but no Traffic

Hello, I'm working as an SEO Team Lead for a marketing agency based out of Canada. We've good number of clients, but wanted to bring in a number of leads coming from oragnic results. Hence, the plan. Fast forward 7 months, we've ranked several pages for a hundreds of queries in the format, "service-location" as a keyword. But here's the funniest part, although we are ranking on top of local SERP's as well as on local pack for the targeted keywords, good amount of impressions on GSC (3 clicks for a page thats generating 6k+ impressions for the keyword and its variations, average position is 5.3) as well! but there's no clicks! Multiple businesses on one website

Hi, recently one client contacted me about new website for his businesses, basically he was thinking about one website (one domain) for his interior design/organising space in house/moving business he is also a personal stylists so ofc he wants it on the webstie too. The interior design and organising space in house is pretty similar so it will be ok to put it on one site but how about the moving business or stylists personally I think its too much for one site and the moving buisness/personal stylist should be on two seperate websites. But before I make any plan or decision I want to hear your opinions and how you would do it! submitted by /u/Impressive-Desk-5027 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/VCnrBlv

Dynamics of site flipping?

Now not that I don't know but the question is I've got some investors who are willing to put in some money to build digital assets. Obviously I'll be diversifying and not relying on content sites only. But assuming they invested 2000$ per month and another 1000$ to buy an already earning asset which is earning suppose 30$ a month, how would we be able to get a profit and most importantly how will the investors make money? I prefer the Buy-Grow-Flip model and so we will have short term liquidation. Any thoughts on how would you approach this? submitted by /u/Striking-Jicama-5067 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/5vfs9E3

Website goes on and off on search results

Hi everyone! My company's website was unindexed for almost a year because of a weird redirection issue. Last week this issue was fixed and we were able to index it again and with the help of Google Search Console quickly we got back to the top places of search results (its a big company here in my country). However Im finding that a couple of times a day, when searching the company's name the website wont show at all (like if it was unindexed again), and then it will show up again later. I really dont have a clue of why this might be happening, everything seems ok in Search Console and other SEO tools I used to test. Thanks in advance. submitted by /u/gargafc [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/eGuR9zy

~400 searches/mth

I am a Mental Training (aka Mental Coaching) practitioner for athletes aged 8-18. My service incorporates elements of sports psychology to help players focus on what matters most to improve performance. This is an emerging yet highly competitive space! According to SparkToro, the phrases "Mental Training" and "Mental Coaching" receive around 400 searches per month. However, I suspect that many of these searches come from practitioners themselves. In contrast, "Sports Psychology" gets over 20,000 searches per month. My website is up, and I'm preparing to produce a series of short videos this summer to drive traffic. However, given the search frequency data and the competitive landscape, I'm unsure about the best keyword strategy to adopt. What would be a good next step in optimizing my keywords and overall strategy to effectively reach my target audience? Pichai must go; with a new CEO, Google could be saved

When the HCU hit, I thought Google made a mistake when penalizing our website. I thought that the algo was going after low quality content and that, for some reasons unknown, wrongly flagged our website. Now, I know that Google is purposely trying to make their SERPs worst in such a way that people now need to perform multiple searches to find what they are looking for, thanks to Ed Zitron's article The Man Who Killed Google Search. While the article is blaming Prabhakar Raghavan (who oversaw the decline and fall of Yahoo Search) for making Google's SERPs shitty, it's clear that he was not named head of search by mistake. As a result, it's pretty clear that the current CEO of Google Sundar Pichai is embracing this strategy to juice up profits short term, while knowing full well that making Google Search shitty will lead to market share loss and could even turn Google into the next Yahoo longer term. So it's not just HCU impacted publishers (and March core impact...

Moving from local to franchise SEO

Hey guys. One of my customer is starting a new franchise under his own brand. He is currently situated in a single town and his local SEO has been doing great since we built his website. He is thinking about expanding and becoming a franchise. So his current website (franchise.com) is dedicated to our local town with keywords + town, but we are going to have to move it to town.franchise.com and replace franchise.com with another brand new website for business that would like to become franchised. We probably have a year or so to prepare. What do we have to do to keep all the SEO and ranks from the main website and transfer it to the town website? Would a simple 301 redirect towards the subdomain be enough? Thanks! submitted by /u/Trukmuch1 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/nfwliE6

Feeling Like A Failure

I just started at this new company as a SEM specialist. There have been so many learning curves, one being the relationship between Rails (main site and app) and Wordpress (blog and landing pages). I have been STRUGGLING to get pages to rank. A couple of my hurdles right off the bat: - Sitemap is not generating (and hasn’t since 2020) - Google/ Semrush crawlers don’t recognize the blog when crawling - Meta data is pulling the same info for all pages - no it doesn’t matter what we put in WP, the code doesn’t pull any of the widget information I have been the field for 5+ years and I haven’t experienced traffic issues and technical issues to this degree before. Are there any tips someone is willing to share? Or stories of using Rails and WP? submitted by /u/Late_Mushroom_8212 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/jmehxV6

Will Google reduce Reddit content in Search?

It’s kind of funny when people say they used Google Search to find Reddit content. I wonder if Google misinterpreted people using Google Advanced Search to find specific Reddit and Quora posts as people must want more Reddit posts to appear in search results. Alternatively, Google might trust subreddit moderators to be the gatekeepers of increasingly more content in SERPs. Now, the question remains: Will Google Search listen to the feedback? According to today’s Semrush data, the organic traffic tides may be turning for Reddit. It showed a 0.4% drop, which is the first time I’ve noticed a decrease in a while. Does this mean Google will bring back small publishers who have the most vocal fans? Holistic B2B Marketing: How To Drive Pipeline With A Silo-Free Strategy via @sejournal, @hethr_campbell

When it comes to B2B strategy, a holistic approach is the only approach.  Revenue organizations usually operate with siloed teams, and often expect a one-size-fits-all solution (usually buying clicks with paid media).  However, without cohesive brand, infrastructure, and pipeline generation efforts, they’re pretty much doomed to fail.  It’s just like rowing crew, where each member of the team must synchronize their movements to propel the boat forward – successful B2B marketing requires an integrated strategy.  So if you’re ready to ditch your disjointed marketing efforts and try a holistic approach, we’ve got you covered.
