Confused about www vs non-www domain and redirects

So, I have a new site I've launched. it shows up in google as - https://domain.com if I type www.domain.com it also pops up. I got an alert from GSC that the www version is not indexed because of redirects. That's good right? That it's not indexed? Do I still need to set up a redirect, I never did in the first place (using Wordpress), but it seems it already redirects naturally. I am a bit worried because I clicked 'Validate" on GSC, so I hope it doesn't somehow override and index the www version. Thanks for the help! submitted by /u/TooLate- [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/ft83JRr

What should I do with sold out products?

We sell one of a kind items that do not get restocked. Knowing the products were indexed on google, should I just delete them or do something else? I’m afraid if I delete them then I would lose indexing/key words from the product. Twitter announces the end of CoTweets

Twitter has just announced the end of CoTweets. They put out a statement in their Help Center that the new feature, which started in July, will be sunset by the end of the day on January 31, 2023. A CoTweet is a tweet that has two authors’ profile pictures and user names. A CoTweet appears on both users’ profiles and is shown to all of their followers. Twitter warned us about this. When the CoTweet experiment was announced, it was also made known that this may not be a permanent feature and that it could go away . Why we care. This feature was a short-lived experiment with the potential for brands and individuals to reach wider audiences. Clearly, Twitter deemed the feature a loser under Elon Musk after not meeting expectations. Yandex scrapes Google and other SEO learnings from the source code leak

“Fragments” of Yandex’s codebase leaked online last week. Much like Google, Yandex is a platform with many aspects such as email, maps, a taxi service, etc. The code leak featured chunks of all of it.  According to the documentation therein, Yandex’s codebase was folded into one large repository called Arcadia in 2013. The leaked codebase is a subset of all projects in Arcadia and we find several components in it related to the search engine in the “Kernel,” “Library,” “Robot,” “Search,” and “ExtSearch” archives.  The move is wholly unprecedented. Not since the AOL search query data of 2006 has something so material related to a web search engine entered the public domain.  Although we are missing the data and many files that are referenced, this is the first instance of a tangible look at how a modern search engine works at the code level.  Personally, I can’t get over how fantastic the timing is to be able to actually see the code as I finish my book “The Scie...

What to watch out for when changing start page to sub page

Hey guys, I just kinda tried to figure out since some days, on how to handle this, but I'm not sure, maybe you can guide me / give me some tips. Some longer time ago, I started ranking with my home/start page of my website, for a specific long tail keyword "some long tail keyword". I didn't know how to do SEO in any terms at this point, so I just took this Keyword as "main thing" of my homepage. But nowadays I would like to change the root/home/start page to something like a landing page = "this is me, this is what I do/offer". I would like to like sub-page this old root/home/start thing, then being like a blog post, specific for this keyword. How would you guys do this? Do I like need to just create a new blog-post/sub-page? I mean, wouldn't this kinda hurt, because the keyword is indexed at google and points to like " mydomain.com ". Usually I could go for a redirection, but in this case, I would redirect everyone away from my...

Twitstorm timeline: The latest on Elon Musk’s Twitter 2.0

Ever since Elon Musk took over as CEO of Twitter, there have been a lot of changes to the platform. Some people love it. Others are not so sure. Many marketers have even said their goodbyes to Twitter. As far as brands are concerned, many have left the platform or temporarily paused ads due to increased hate speech, safety concerns, and Musk’s overall lax approach to content moderation, account suspensions, and other issues. Here’s a rundown of all the changes that have happened so far. Whether you’re a fan or not, it’s worth keeping up with what’s happening with Twitter 2.0. The latest in the Twitstorm: In a beta available to all advertisers, Twitter launched a new Search Keyword Ads campaign objective. Roll-Out Plan for Alternative Feeds, Updated Bookmarks UI and Long-Form Tweets is announced Advanced Search filters could soon be coming for mobile. Have an idea for a new Twitter account, but the username is taken? You may still be able to get it. Musk announces that Twit...

Getting Crushed by Competitor. Need Help

My competitor is not paying for any ads and getting more than double views than my site with ads and organic. We are both in the same niche: furniture. Our websites are about the same age. We sell the same/similar product lines. He is crushing us. 40.5k Organic Search Traffic compared to our 16.6k Organic Search Traffic. 50.6k backlinks vs our 23.1k backlinks. We have an SEO team getting us good ranking in a nice amount of keywords, but this kind of difference in traffic is alarming. Is there anything I can do to help my website to get more free traffic? Any info would be greatly appreciated.. He has a literal book of a buyers guide (all text no images) on his website attached to his footer that I believe is helping him rank on so many keywords. What would you guys do to help your website if you were in my shoes? submitted by /u/pumpedupkicks719 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/swdoRtJ

Blog Keyword Question

If I write an article on a topic such as "How to spend your paycheck" and each of the 8 points is different, such as Budget, invest, pay debts etc, how do I pick keywords? Do I have to pick keywords for each of the 8 points or do I have to stick to the main title " How to spend your paycheck." I'm new to blogging. Disavowing Links Without Manual Actions

I have a low website. I did a backlink audit recently and found many spammy links. I have done audits earlier but since I don't use a paid tool, you don't get a full picture, this time I used a different tool that showed me around 94 backlinks. 90% of them are pure spam, all irrelevant, some of them unsecure/don't work and some of them associated with porno. Is it a good idea to disavow them even if there's no manual action? submitted by /u/pranavmahapatra [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/lDkhHKj

Should I start a new site or do it on my already existing site?

I have basically made a one-product store and optimized the store and it just recently started ranking very well. I think this is due to topical authority which I have focused a lot on. Now I want to rank another product and I wonder if I should create a new site or if I should try to rank it on my existing site. both the products are in the same niche but the niche is very broad. thankful for answers! submitted by /u/Snoo-69497 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/sgHrK9k

Index/crawl "bloat" - best way to fix?

We submitted a sitemap on search console a few months ago with 40k+ URLs, most of which were thin search result pages. 600 of them got indexed, 3k are crawled but not indexed. We fixed our sitemap to exclude the excessive, low-quality URLs but we're having trouble getting new pages crawled & indexed and I think this is why. We know that we should delete low-quality pages with a 410 code but that only matters for the pages that got indexed, right? I'm more concerned about the 3k crawled but not indexed pages and remaining ~40k not indexed pages. Will they continue to clog up our crawl budget, so to speak, for a long time? Any advice on how to handle? Thanks so much for any insight you can offer 🙏🏻 submitted by /u/Boto_io [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/Leup59r

Yandex ‘leak’ reveals 1,922 search ranking factors

A former employee allegedly leaked a Yandex source code repository, part of which contained more than 1,900 factors the search engines uses for ranking search results. Why we care. This leak has revealed 1,922 ranking factors Yandex used in its search algorithm, at least as of July 2022. Perhaps Martin MacDonald put it best on Twitter today: “The Yandex hack is probably the most interesting thing to have happened in SEO in years.” Yandex is not Google. If you plan to read the full list of Yandex ranking factors, remember that Yandex is not Google. If you see a ranking factor listed by Yandex, that doesn’t mean Google gives that signal that same amount of weight. In fact, Google may not use all of the 1,922 factors listed. That said, a lof of these ranking factors may be quite similar. So reviewing this document may provide some useful insights to better help you understand how search engines, such as Google, work from a technological standpoint. The bigger picture. The code...

Redesign - Is WordPress Landing Page Worth it?

Skip to TLDR for question. My company is undergoing a leadership change and brand refresh, and I have been tasked with organizing the website redesign. The company is a relatively small consulting company (20ish employees, 7.5ish Mill revenue) that offers training and certifications to a niche market. We work with large company's and some individuals to train their employees on safety and compliance with the government regulations. In 2017-2018, the company sank a ton of money into a new custom site built in Laravel (PHP extension and JS) that tracks the customer training, and has many custom features specific to our industry. We have a secondary website to offer online training on. Now both are extremely outdated and clunky, and we have fallen off the first page of google, even though we are one of 3 companies that offers this type of service. It has significantly hurt revenue, and needs updated asap. We have contracted with a marketing company, who has redesigned our brand w...

Ideas for generating SEO from Competitors' SEO

Looking for ideas on how to generate my own leads based on competitors' SEO. What are some creative ways to come up in web search results when customers google for competitors? Or what other methods could work? submitted by /u/flyingsolo0101 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/ioKhR6r
