Understanding Google thin content

Can someone suggest and share their experience with Google's thin content. I see many news sites , brands have thin ,low value content but still rank on Google whereas new sites with less / to the point answers fall into thin content in Google's eyes. Any hack for this or ranking such content. I see news/fact is fact it has nothing new or fresh to create or over right it by making it hard for the readers to find what they are looking for. submitted by /u/hidevhere [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/Bzu4Wr9

Redirecting to high-ranking pages

Hi! I have a question about redirects. I recently made a transition to my company's marketing dept and my boss showed me that when we have multiple blog posts on a topic and one of those posts starts cannibalizing keywords from our "tentpole" post about the topic, he's been redirecting it to that tentpole post. He leaves the old post live, just redirects to direct the traffic to the intended page. Likewise, if a post starts doing unexpectedly well, he's redirected some older posts ranking for the same keywords to it for the same reason. Is this best practice? I wonder if this has the intended effect--I just don't know enough about SEO yet to know if it's a good or bad idea. I also wonder if leaving the redirected post live is bad--doesn't it remain on the sitemap? And would that affect ranking? Thank you! submitted by /u/LumosMegan [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/mNnLfk2

B2B website targeting sweden (primary) and germany (new market) - Is it best to build 1 site with language options, where .se leads to the swedish version (original) and .de leads to the german translation of the original - or two individual sites with separate installations for .se and .de?

I'm building a B2B site that will be targeting sweden and germany. Focus will be on SEO optimization. Client asked me the following, and I'd appreciate any help in explaining to him about best practices. "Is it better to build 1 site with language options, where .se leads to the swedish version (original) and .de leads to the german translation? Or is it best to build 2 individual sites, where you can see a translated version on that." submitted by /u/ChrisDforDesign [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/aZN05KC

Rich Snippet Issue

Help me make sense of this. AI cannibalization and content stealing, again?

If you're not familiar with my situation, know that I have a website, well, actually two, neither properly present in the Google SERP due to the latest updates, but my content is still used quite a bit in the Gemini AI it seems, especially the content from my YouTube videos that cover the same topics as the websites. I recently published a review of the Xiaomi BE7000 which included some tests that no one conducted and then I waited until Gemini found it. And I think it did, but I don't understand what exactly is that I am seeing: " Here's a look at a review of the Xiaomi BE7000 that dives into latency results: TopView ai offers a review with speed tests, latency performance, and software analysis [Review of Xiaomi BE7000 WiFi 7 Router]. In their testing, the BE7000 showed impressive latency, with results staying below 50 milliseconds for 95% of the time during multi-client scenarios. There were some fluctuations, though, with Wi-Fi 5 clients experiencing higher...

Are Exact Match Keywords Necessary for On-Page Optimization?

I have seen some conflicting information about this topic online, so I wanted to post here to get some opinions on my exact situation. I am currently building a website for a mobile detailing company in Philadelphia, PA. After conducting some keyword research, I found that the best primary keyword to target on the homepage is "Mobile Detailing Philadelphia". As I am writing the content for the homepage, I find that it is incredibly difficult to integrate the primary keyword into the H1 heading given that it is a service + location keyword. The only way I see possible that is somewhat natural sounding would be something like "The Best Mobile Detailing Philadelphia Offers", which I really don't like. I would much rather write an H1 heading that is more like "The Best Mobile Detailing in Philadelphia", for example, where it is much more natural sounding with the word "in". Basically, my question is whether or not the keyword integration in th...

Method to Avoid Google Updates 2024 and Recover your traffic, or Outrank Homepage to top Google : Cost of Retrieval

(Stuff from chat GPT) Hey fellow webmasters and SEO enthusiasts, I've been diving deep into the mechanics of how Google updates affect website rankings, and I wanted to share some insights on a method that might help you mitigate the impact of these updates. This method revolves around understanding and optimizing the index retrieval cost. What is Index Retrieval Cost? Index retrieval cost refers to the resources (like time and computing power) that Google uses to fetch and process the data from your website's pages. Google aims to minimize this cost while delivering the most relevant results. If your pages are resource-intensive to retrieve, it could affect your ranking, especially during major updates. How Can You Optimize Index Retrieval Cost? Improve Page Speed: Use tools like Google PageSpeed Insights to identify and fix issues slowing down your pages. Compress images, leverage browser caching, and minimize JavaScript. Optimize Internal Linking: Ensure your site...

Why Google keeps blocking business page?

I work for a small YMYL vendor company and I'm facing a strange issue with our Google business page. Within the span of a month, our page has been blocked by Google not once, but twice. And the weirdest part is, we haven't made any changes or violated any of Google's policies. I'm at a loss as to why this is happening. This business has been listed on Google for years and we've never had any problems before. We have a good rating and reviews from customers, so I can't imagine why Google would suddenly block it. Do you know why this might be happening? submitted by /u/Correct_Possible9414 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/7HCS2MZ

Anyone else facing issues with Shopify's 'Impulse' theme?

’ve been using the 'Impulse' theme for my Shopify store, and while it looks fantastic, I’ve run into a few issues that are really concerning. Firstly, I've noticed some serious SEO problems. Specifically, it seems like the canonical tags in product collections aren’t set up correctly, which I suspect is affecting my Google indexing. Has anyone else experienced this? Another major issue is the lack of a mega menu. For a theme that costs $380, I expected this basic functionality to be included. How are you all managing navigation without it? The most troubling experience I had was with customer support. Instead of notifying me by email about an issue, they went straight to having Shopify ban my store! This was a huge blow to my business, and I’m still trying to understand why they handled it this way. Has anyone else had such extreme experiences with their support? On a positive note, I've seen many people praise the theme’s design and the support team, especially so...

Should I stop working on my website after the March update hit? Everything seems to be broken. Do you have any ideas on how I can fix that?

My website traffic dropped drastically after the March update. I have been working on this website for the last 5 years, and it's my only source of income. Is there any point in continuing? Is there any chance I can rank Fixing Port again? I have never been involved in black hat or grey hat SEO techniques; I have only worked on content strategy and white hat practices. Any suggestions for me? Should i continue or leave it? submitted by /u/vishalnegal [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/GXvZWB4
