Question about backlink penalties

Hi there. I am looking for advice on determining the type of algorithm penalty is on my site. I will start by saying: 1. I have never bought a backlink 2. I have never worked with an SEO 3. It's confirmed that I have no tech errors. Basically, I have lost thousands of Google clicks per day since 2022 so I know there is some type of algorithmic penalty on my domain. I have never received any manual action.

I know that most say not to worry about backlinks because Google disregards spammy links, but there is definitely a correlation between the rise in referring domains and my lost of all traffic over a 2-3 year time span.

I am more worried about penalties resulting from violating Google's spam policy. According to their website, they punish for link spam which violates their policies. It says this includes: paying for links to manipulate search rankings, low end directory sites, and using automated programs to create links.

I have been tracking my links on: GSC, Bing Webmaster Tools, Semrush, and Ahrefs for many years. I know many have said to only trust the links found by Google and Bing. The links are different in each system.

So, I have a question about several links from different sources. Are any of these possibly causing a penalty and what should I do about it?

  1. I have 100,000+ links from a local real estate site. They basically increase with each new listing. Basically, the real estate site put a link to our article with the exact title in their navigation bar. This link shows in GSC, but not Bing.

  2. I have hundreds of directory/guest post site links. These show up in Semrush and Ahrefs, but not GSC or Bing. These sites are really spammy looking but have a domain authority of 50-70, occasionally lower but mostly on the higher end. It's basically a page with an unending list of 1-3 million domains. Each site uses the same layout. Pay $75 for 1 link or $500 to list your website on all 30. My site is added to new directories on a recurring basis. Not sure who is paying to list me on these sites as I don't rank in Search anymore. Would Google be punishing me because someone is setting up some type of automated link program?

  3. A bunch of gibberish content pages with links to a lot of sites within a big wall of text. I don't know what this is but I have dozens of these links in Bing. It appears that they are entering in anchor text which matches my article title or keywords that I am trying to rank for.

Local seo vs. natiowide seo?

I've done SEO for local businesses but I recently got my first client that sells an item nation wide. Any suggestions for doing nationwide SEO? I am used to making geopages for local towns. I was going to do the same with some input from the client about what cities or towns he would like to show up in? submitted by /u/Letmeinterviewyou [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News http://bit.ly/2JHy0k0

Clients site has a weird issue with 302 redirects that I haven't seen before.

Site is in Drupal, hosted on Amazon CDN & Cloudflare. So here's a quick breakdown: The site itself works normally. It's a bit dated, but you can click on links and navigate around as you'd expect. Seeing no obvious issues, I run a Screaming Frog crawl to begin my audit. Only 5 pages were picked up by the crawl which was super weird, since all internal links are regular html and there shouldn't be any issues. So I go through the site and manually collect a bunch of URLs, which I submit to SF again as a list. Every single link bar the 5 originally crawled return a 302, with the 'redirect' pointing back to the home page. Except as I said, those pages don't browser redirect. Browser side, they work fine. I guess they redirect the crawl bot though, since the rest of the site is functionally invisible. Other tools I've looked at say that the pages return simultaneous 302 and 200s, which doesn't make too much sense. These 302s are also old enough ...
