Notice that for smaller sites trying to index on large topics, reindexing notably drops its position for at least the first ~24 hours.
For smaller sites building authority, I imagine click through is vital for jumping in position. If your position is lower/next page, click through is probably less likely.
I used to request indexing whenever I had the quota. Then I only requested indexing for notable page changes. Now considering not requesting indexing unless the page hasn't been crawled or has rich result issues. EOD, crawlers still notice the updates regardless if you request indexing again.
Curious what your approach is.
