I hired a boutique SEO agency to redesign our ecommerce site. After launch, I discovered that an unconditional <meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow"> tag had been left in theme.liquid.
Google Search Console shows an increase in "Excluded by noindex count" the day after launch and our impressions has been down significantly. The only reason I found this was having an AI tool review my website, which pointed this out.
Is this considered a significant QA failure for an SEO agency, or is this something that occasionally slips through during launches?
