AI assistants cite my site 10,000+ times a month. It sends me almost no traffic. My data after 12 weeks of optimizing for AEO.

I run a streaming-availability site focused on Asian markets, 12 weeks old. Instead of fighting for traditional SERPs against IMDb and the big aggregators, I optimized for AI answers from day one. Sharing the numbers because the results surprised me in both directions.

What the data shows (Microsoft Clarity AI visibility + my own referral logs):

  • Rank #1 cited source in my niche's query set, with 65 percent share of all page citations. Ahead of Netflix's own domain and the big aggregators for those queries.
  • 10,000+ Copilot citations in 30 days, plus growing ChatGPT and Gemini citations.
  • Direct referral traffic from all of that: a fraction of one percent of sessions. The assistants answer with my data and the user never visits.

What actually got the citations, in order of impact as far as I can tell:

  1. Country-specific long-tail pages. "Where to watch X in Pakistan" beats "where to watch X" because nobody authoritative covers the specific version.
  2. Comparison-format content. My "service A vs service B" pages get cited far more per page than anything else. The AI visibility tools literally list "platform comparison framing" as what they pull from my site.
  3. FAQ schema on everything. Question-shaped headings with 2 to 3 sentence answers get quoted near verbatim.
  4. Freshness stamps. Dated availability pages ("as of August 2026") get preferred for time-sensitive queries.

The uncomfortable part: citations are compounding but they behave like brand advertising, not like traffic. My actual growth came from app store search instead. So I'm now treating AEO as a moat and awareness play rather than an acquisition channel.

Curious what others are seeing: is anyone actually converting AI citations into meaningful visits, or is zero-click just the new reality we optimize into?

Local seo vs. natiowide seo?

I've done SEO for local businesses but I recently got my first client that sells an item nation wide. Any suggestions for doing nationwide SEO? I am used to making geopages for local towns. I was going to do the same with some input from the client about what cities or towns he would like to show up in? submitted by /u/Letmeinterviewyou [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News http://bit.ly/2JHy0k0

Clients site has a weird issue with 302 redirects that I haven't seen before.

Site is in Drupal, hosted on Amazon CDN & Cloudflare. So here's a quick breakdown: The site itself works normally. It's a bit dated, but you can click on links and navigate around as you'd expect. Seeing no obvious issues, I run a Screaming Frog crawl to begin my audit. Only 5 pages were picked up by the crawl which was super weird, since all internal links are regular html and there shouldn't be any issues. So I go through the site and manually collect a bunch of URLs, which I submit to SF again as a list. Every single link bar the 5 originally crawled return a 302, with the 'redirect' pointing back to the home page. Except as I said, those pages don't browser redirect. Browser side, they work fine. I guess they redirect the crawl bot though, since the rest of the site is functionally invisible. Other tools I've looked at say that the pages return simultaneous 302 and 200s, which doesn't make too much sense. These 302s are also old enough ...
