Methods to find barely established businesses?

I'm brand new to SEO and finding it all very interesting. I'm currently taking Moz's and Ahref's courses, but I had a question I haven't seen an answer for yet. I have a brand new digital product design business — I've pivoted from a different field, so I don't have many professional connections that are relevant for my new direction. What are some methods of finding comparable businesses that are of the same size (tiny and barely starting) . It's easy to use tools to find high ranking businesses, but they are at a totally different scale. I'm specifically learning how to position myself to target the lower hanging clients for now to gain clients. Thank you Edit: if you are downvoting, could you tell me why? SEO budget for new company?

Sorry for not knowing much about SEO since its not my field but my boss wants me to devise an SEO budget plan for $1000 but not sure what that really means. We have a webdesigner who has done some on-site SEO which means he sintalled google site maps and used Yoast to edit meta tags and alt tags on images. But I dont know where a $1k spend is supposed to go. I am unable to generate organic SEO

I started my blog in Dec 2019. Since then I have published more than 30 high-quality articles of around 1500 words on average. I get around 6k-7k page views every month and almost all of them are through referral traffic and social media. I am unable to get any organic traffic. On top of it, my Adsense account is only giving me $ 1.5/RPM. I am just trying to understand where my strategy is falling short. Is it because, I am getting most referral and social media traffic, I am getting low RPM rates? And even after 3-4 months my organic traffic is only about 150 visitors per month. Any suggestions here will be very helpful. submitted by /u/abby2906 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3ff6jvA

How to add URL parameters on click action?

On our website, we have URL tracking parameters on links to other pages. We added correct canonical URLs on those pages, but still, I would like to save crawling budget and I'm searching for a way to do it without removing URL parameters. In my case blocking these URL parameters using robots.txt file isn't an option. I've read one blog post that suggests adding URL parameters using the "param-string=" function. I have an indexing problem and I think you guys might be able to help!

Hi guys, I have an indexing problem that I have never encountered before. I am hoping someone here has encountered similar and can provide a solution or at least let me know this is perfectly normal. I am currently using old content (from around 2014) on a new domain. The content I am using is from a domain I used to own. I imported the data into Wordpress using MySQL. I finished restoring the site around 2 weeks ago and added the domain and sitemap to Search Console. For some reason though Google really doesn't like this site and really doesn't seem to want to index it naturally. In Search Console I get the following message: Discovered – currently not indexed Status: Excluded Now, I am aware this means that Google has found the URLS but for some reason chose to not index them. The theory is that it stops before completion. What concerns me more is Googles lack of further indexing and ranking. For example, I can manually add a link and boom, within 24 hours it's li...

Is it possible to rank in organic search without being confirmed by Google?

I'm speaking of businesses specifically. How important is confirming your business to organic search results? I understand that it's vital for the Map Pack, but I can't find anything about its importance when it comes to the actual search results. The reason I ask is because I started my business in January and have been waiting two months for my confirmation postcard. I've hit the first page and my on-page SEO is on point, while my DA isn't too low to compete in this market, going by my competitors. But I can't help but wonder if not having this Google confirmation is holding me back. submitted by /u/aedum1111 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3aNdBmz

Hi, I have an auto parts online store and I want to start a company blog. Will having the blog under the same domain as the main website affect my ranking? Author Bio Question

I manage SEO for a small financial institution, and we're in the process of adding author bios to our blog content (the platform we use did not allow for this previously). Recently, we started working with a few new-ish freelance copywriters, and I'm very pleased with the work they've produced. They work hard to synthesize complex financial information, and the performance of our blog has gone through the roof over the last six months. However, when it comes to author bios, I'm a bit torn on whether we should use group attribution or individual bios. When using freelancers, is it better to have the article attributed to a (relatively) inexperienced writer? Or attributed to the institution itself? Too many link opportunities causing headaches

Hey guys, I need some help getting my head around my current situation. I keep getting 'too many' guest posting opportunities for my clients! I work with small clients who pay for 8 hours of work (on average) a month and I'm mainly guest posting for them. Tried Everything For Website optimization: Need expert guidance and opinion to reduce page load time

Hello people! For the past 6 months, I have been working to develop a website for my company. It is a responsive site built on Wordpress with totally static content and contains around 120 pages. We have installed the theme bifrost. Website URL: https://labhgroup.com Initially, the metrics were page size (20 MB), load time (18 sec) and requests (300+) We started optimizing the pages by following the tips provided by GTMetrix and other SEO blogs like Moz and Neil Patel. Eventually, we brought down the metrics (Size: 3 MB, time: 12 s, requests: 120) . Even with these optimizations, we still got a 0 score on Google page speed insights. We compared the metrics of our competitors and discovered that even though they have higher page size and requests, their page load time was very low . Please guide me; what should I do to bring down my page load time . My target is around 5 seconds. The main reason that I suspect for a 0 score on page speed insights is the high page...

Google is trying to crawl excluded and blocked pages, more than 16 million

My colleagues sent me a very interesting situation: Google started crawling a very large volume of blocked pages, already found 16 million)) Blocked URL in the robots.txt, meta noindex, and then added X-Robots-Tag noindex in the server has increased load, almost 1000 times there are no 503 errors, the server can withstand loading an XML sitemap, everything is clean the site is 1 year old clicks and impressions are growing in Google Search Console, but for now very strange, but google does not go so far on the pages... and here 27 slashes (/.../.../.../.../... etc) in the link +/- 25 clicks from the main page in the log file is really a lot of Googlebot - 500 thousand per day the backlinks are also clean, no spam P.S. Targeted keywords

Hi everyone! I had a discussion with my boss concerning some of our targeted keywords, so I wanted to have your opinions, since I'm still a newbie. So basically our service is to provide a price comparison between several suppliers. Over the years, some suppliers were either bought by a bigger player or went bankrupt, which is just a normal thing in any kind of industry. However some of those gone suppliers still have a fair amount of monthly volume of search linked to them, even though it's been 3-4 years they're not active anymore. Not a huge volume, but still. In my opinion, it's not essential to try to target them, as they're not relevant anymore. But my boss thinks otherwise. What are your general opinion about the question? Should I include them in my plan? I don't mind, but there are so many other more relevant keywords, that I feel like I'd be wasting my time with them, just to capture traffic from a few laggards... Bad idea to use keyword that has low difficulty and linking domains but bad back-links?

I've been thinking about starting a blog and am new to doing keyword research. I found a keyword that was rated to have a low difficulty despite having a pretty high search volume. According to that SEO tool it also showed that most of the top 10 webpages for that keyword had few linking domains When I looked at some of those top 10 webpages and their linking domains, it seemed like the vast majority were either from sites that I don't think provide good backlinks (sites such as prlog.ru), webpages such as from blogspot that seemed very outdated and their content only consisted of links to other sites and their domain names had nothing to do with the keyword, or coupon sites (such as promocodesfree.com) which doesn't make sense to me as the blog posts were free For some of the sites in the top 10 google rankings for that keyword, I guess they ranked high because their Domain Authorities were high. But I'm confused as to how those other webpages with lowish DAs made t...

"Doorway" pages. If they are not relevant why does everyone use them?

I own a cleaning company, we have a page for each city we service with about half unique content on each page. I have been told by many SEO experts these are "doorway pages", that they are an old strategy, that google will de-rank us etc. And, like all things SEO... I have been told by an equal number of seemingly equally competent SEO experts that this is merely part of the game. I've had people go as far as saying it is a best practice. Also, worth noting virtually every cleaning company in our area that ranks, ranks for pages like this. The only exception being companies named after the cities they are in. Shopify SEO Collection Pages Vs Blogs

Hey, I have a theory about using Shopify’s collection pages to rank well. For context, last year I wrote a review of the best Parking Barriers and housed it on a Shopify Collection page. It now ranks super well for parking barrier, parking space blocker... I think it ranks well because Google favors product/collection pages for product keywords, I have a ton of content and some backlinks. Contrastingly, last month I wrote an article reviewing Parking Signs but I made it a blog page and not a product collection. Although there hasn’t been enough time to disprove that the blog page will rank well, I believe collection pages help rank for product keywords better than blogs do. I think the best way to rank for keywords like “parking barrier, parking space blocker, and no parking signs” is with collection pages/product pages that have lots of content. submitted by /u/Bennettheyn [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/2KGbmqz

Good idea to create infographic for Competitors to get good backlinks?

I haven't started blogging yet because I first want to have some plan on what content to focus on. I've picked a keyword and niche, and took a look at the webpages that ranked in the top 10 google results and I think I can improve on those webpages by creating infographics From what I've gathered, the traffic you get depends on heavily on your google ranking which is heavily determined by the number of quality backlinks you have to websites with high DA Is it a good idea to create an infographic and send it sites that would benefit from it (such as the ones in the top 10 ranking for the keyword I'm targeting), so that way those infographic links would lead to traffic on my webpage? I really procrastinate on this since I know how much time it will take to pimp each article, find pictures, credit pictures, etc, etc. Wouldn't it be wiser to publish raw content with ToC, subheadings in place and then pimp one by one with picturea, interlinking as time goes? Google Search Console is showing inbound links while they were supposed to be "nofollow" inbount links.

It's my understanding that in Google Seach Console, under the "Links" section for a specific verified domain property, I will find (all?) the inbound links to said domain that Google has indexed. Which in general it's true: I found in that list the expected number of inbound links, in my company's GSC, and in my clients' GSCs. (We're a web agency) Note now that it's the agency policy to put a NOFOLLOW link to our main website, for branding reasons. Also, we recently (8-12 weeks ago) released for couple of clients of ours, two different ecommerce websites, with thousands of pages each. We're now seeing that under our own GSC "Links" section that we have several thousands of inbound links from said websites, even though they are NOFOLLOW. The "offending" websites are correctly setup, and in their GSCs there's also a sitemap, with the expected number of links being crawled/indexed by Google almost everyday. ...

Home Page with Blog Excerpt ranking higher than blog post itself?

My client recently added a blog post dealing with the effects of coronavirus / covid-19 on her industry. The good news is that she is appearing on page one of local searches for this keyword after a single day. The weird news is that it is her home page, which has an excerpt of each of her recent blog posts, that is ranking and not the blog post itself. Is this a normal occurrence? Should I be doing something special to make sure the blog post gets the higher visibility, as it has a meta title and meta description that would attract more clicks than her home page meta data for this topic. submitted by /u/endlesswander [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3cY2GYH

Estimate SEO traffic

Hi People I'm working in an industry where we can only drive SEO traffic to the site (NOT PORN) Now, even though I've been doing SEO for more than 10 years - I never did an estimation report for SEO traffic (I don't need the revenue ) can anyone help with how to do that the right way? submitted by /u/ymarder [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3cR983O

One Article or Multiple Articles targeting Separate keywords

I've been reading some books on SEO and following some online guides, doing SEO for friends and families in the hopes of branching out on my own. - I've had great success so far. A question I have through is some guides recommend setting up a page based on overall topic Example: Topic: Plumbing London Main Keyword: Plumber London Secondary Keywords: Best plumbers in South London, Emergency Plumber, Plumbing services. So the above would be one article with the topic being plumbing London and sprinkle the sub keywords in that article OR: Would I create a separate article for each keyword? - I'll Admit I haven't tried this method yet, wanted to understand what everyone is doing or what works best. Thanks! submitted by /u/snas12 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3aJS3HN

Sub domain or new domain SEO

I was curious what your opinions are on sub domains vs new domain for being listed in google. Currently our company has a successful manufacturing site xyz .com which is b2b. In order to play off our strong business brand we thought when making our new b2c site we would create a sub domain shop.xyz.com. However the main domain and sub domain seem to be getting mixed up in google and marketing seems more difficult. Do you think we should move to a new domain for our b2c site like xyz.shop instead of the sub domain shop.xyz.com submitted by /u/CatnipBravo [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3f1fOOW

I am new to SEO. Please help me understand where on my Woocommerce site to implement noindex, nofollow, and noarchive.

I've gotten a rudimentary understanding of each and what they do but I am new and don't want to fudge up my site. Does anyone know or have a resource on standard Woocommerce practice for these commands? I have a standard Woocommerce site: product pages, products page, product category pages, blog page, blog posts page, search results template, cart page, checkout, thank you, my account, login, wish list, affiliate program pages, 404 page, and etc. What about my templates like the header template, footer template, and etc? submitted by /u/tanman897 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/358CB6O

How many of you write your own blog content and enjoy it?

Hey there, I lurk this subreddit quite frequently (like a lot of others here I'm guessing!) and a lot of the users that post either have their own writers for their sites or manage another business's website - including myself. I was wondering who here actually runs their own blog and creates all the content themselves? I'm wondering if you still enjoy it after all these years? submitted by /u/Moustachey [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/2VJ3mM8

Why is my rank getting worse?

Over the past month my average position on my top keywords has gone up to about #25. Before this I was ranking steady around #10-15 on these same keywords. I havent made any changes to the site since the coronavirus... But, I've had a bunch of high DA backlinks show up over this month. I would think with these good dofollow citation backlinks my rank would get better, not worse. What could I be doing wrong? submitted by /u/rvs4 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/2YaP08J

Link building: Listing a new site in link directories?

SEO Advice for re-designs

Hi, Having done a major overhaul on my website approx. 5 weeks ago, going from Joomla 3.8 to Wordpress 5.4 using Elementor Pro as a page builder. The site beforehand wasn't performing badly in SEO results, but due to wanting to move away from Joomla and not wanting to renew our SEO plugin, I made copies of all the backlinks, SEO keywords/meta descs/titles and essentially set the new website up in Wordpress to look the same (or near enough) inc. the same text/image content. As far as I can see, the website is identical in terms of content, images, design, and keyword/meta title/description usage. Any URLs missing from the new website had a 301 redirect to the most relevant page, and I've had Google re-index the site and see my new sitemaps. The only real difference is my Joomla URLs were '/thispage.htm', whereby my new site has '/thispage' which redirects to '/thispage/'. There's a 301 redirect in place for '/thispage.htm' to '/thispa...

Local SEO for 4-6 months or recurring?

I am a web designer and recently have started getting into digital marketing and learning about Local SEO as a few of my clients have asked about the service. When selling these Local SEO services, do you normally do it for 4-6 months or is this a continuous recurring service that you are selling? I am struggling to package these services for a client. I know the work for Local SEO is very front-heavy with all the on-site optimizations and citation work but it would be nice to have a recurring stream of revenue and be able to provide value to the client on a continuous basis. I have thought about pricing it higher for the first 2 months and then a lower price moving forward for the next 3-4 months as more of a maintenance package. Any recommendation in how to price this out over the period of 4-6 months or even on a longer term basis would be great to hear from some of your experts who have been doing this for a long time... submitted by /u/kcdc42 [link] [comments] from S...

SPA slow pagespeed impacts

Hi all, We’re due to launch an update to our site which is built on SPA and in practical use is significantly faster than the current version of our site. However all pagespeed tests are showing horrific load times for both desktop and mobile. We’re working on some factors (image compression etc) but I’m concerned that in loading most of the site in the first instance, search engines will never view a page as fast and this will impact our ability to rank going forward. Has anyone else had similar issues with SPA? How much of a pinch of salt should be taken with pagespeed testing? Any advice would be excellent. Cheers! submitted by /u/braydee89 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3bH3KAb

Huge loss in traffic due domain migration. Did I miss something from SEO perspective?

Hi, I have migrated my website https://vihara.nl to https://meditatieinstituut.nl . I think I have done everything perfect for SEO. Still the rankings have huge drops, and so does traffic. I have done the migration 1,5 week ago. Nothing is changed in the content and also the url structure is exactly the same. This I have done: - 301 redirects from old to new domain for every url - new domain is running from CDN (Cloudflare) with the same settings - SSL for the new domain is set up exact the same way - set up the migration in Google Search Console - uploaded the new sitemap in search console (and this is working) - updated the internal links to the new domain - changed the most important external links to the new domain (where possible) I believe everything is done in best practice. But maybe I missed something? If I did not miss something, I guess it will take time before Google have transfered all the authority from the old domain to the new domain, which influences the...

What Readers Want During COVID-19: B2B Edition
