Brand keyword vanished from SERP at a specific hour and still hasn't come back, 19+ hours later, what do i do?

Small WooCommerce store, ranking #1 for my exact brand query for months. Starting around 3-4 AM today, my homepage stopped appearing on page 1 for that exact query. I've searched it manually, repeatedly, throughout the day (incognito, pws=0 , correct locale) — still not there as of writing, ~19 hours later. GSC's hourly data for that query+page combo shows impressions/clicks going flat right around the same time and staying flat since. Before this started, position on the bare query was already softer than it used to be (~2.5-4 average, down from a steady #1), but I was still showing up. This is different — a hard drop to not-appearing-at-all, at a specific hour, that hasn't self-corrected in nearly a day. I've ruled out the things I know how to check: GSC Manual actions / Security issues — both clean homepage still returns first when you search site:domain on google URL Inspection — indexed, crawled same day, canonical correct Googlebot UA vs Chrome UA — ide...

I think my agency accidentally noindexed my whole website

I hired a boutique SEO agency to redesign our ecommerce site. After launch, I discovered that an unconditional <meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow"> tag had been left in theme.liquid. Google Search Console shows an increase in "Excluded by noindex count" the day after launch and our impressions has been down significantly. The only reason I found this was having an AI tool review my website, which pointed this out. Is this considered a significant QA failure for an SEO agency, or is this something that occasionally slips through during launches? submitted by /u/jokgga [link] [comments] from The SEO Authority https://ift.tt/XEtWGTf

Migrating website Issue

I have been working for a client for 3 years and managed to take his website to DR 30+ The website is being hosted on a "co" domain. Now, after 3 years, my client has acquired a "com" as well under the same brand name, and he wants to migrate the "co" domain to "com". Also, considering that our Blogs are hosted under the sub domain Should I add a 301 redirect to my whole website to "com"? Or is that a bad approach that could hurt my rankings? What things should I consider before migrating? submitted by /u/Ok-Conversation-6428 [link] [comments] from The SEO Authority https://ift.tt/eH1m57O

AI Search Isn’t Replacing Google, It’s Layering On Top – Similarweb Data via @sejournal, @gregjarboe

New Similarweb figures reveal how narrowly ChatGPT distributes its outbound clicks, and what that concentration means for publishers chasing AI referral traffic. Feel like I am going crazy - my space simulator does not rank for it's name, but other sites iframing it do?

I used to get tons of traffic from google, now I am stuck on crawled-not indexed for a while - I didn't even notice it at first. I assume it was because it's a web application and didn't have much other than javascript, but even after adding some texts, it isn't getting shown at all. And on another note - would you block iframes? submitted by /u/watermelonson [link] [comments] from The SEO Authority https://ift.tt/4eXymiU

Is there a good way to migrate from .ca to .com?

I currently have a site on a .ca domain. I own the .com domain too. Thinking about the future, i want my company to build business outside of Canada so im contemplating migrating but concerned about loosing all of the authority/page ranks etc. Is there any good way to mitigate this risk or am I just setting myself up to drastically fall in rankings? submitted by /u/Effective_Permit560 [link] [comments] from The SEO Authority https://ift.tt/bEJpfVz

89% Of AI Search Demand Has No Clear Owner: Use This Before The Window Closes via @sejournal, @gregjarboe

Kevin Indig's data across 1,094 categories shows that only 15.2% have a clear ChatGPT owner, and citations barely predict which brand gets named. Google Search Console now lets you add social media profiles

Just noticed something new in Google Search Console. When adding a new property, there's now an option to add social profiles instead of only websites. Currently I can see support for: Instagram TikTok X YouTube This is the first time I've seen GSC treating social platforms as first class properties. I'm curious where Google is taking this. A few possibilities that come to mind: Identity/ownership verification across platforms. Better integration between Search and creator profiles. Future performance or discovery insights. A centralized place to manage your web presence instead of just websites. At the moment I haven't seen any documentation explaining what functionality comes after adding one of these properties. Has anyone already tried it or found official documentation on what this is for? submitted by /u/abhimanyu_saharan [link] [comments] from The SEO Authority https://ift.tt/E4l6pMG

One GSC query, 5,075 impressions, 0 clicks, position 6

That's AI Overviews pulling your content into the answer without a click. GSC counts the impression the moment your link renders, even inside the AI box. Not a bug, just what traffic looks like now. Check if you have the Generative AI performance report in Search Console yet, it'll split this out instead of leaving you guessing from position and impressions. submitted by /u/yezra [link] [comments] from The SEO Authority https://ift.tt/uvWpKby

The Future Of Search & AI: What I Learned From Google’s Latest Earnings Call via @sejournal, @marie_haynes

Is Google still a search engine? Its Q2 2026 earnings call suggests the answer is changing, and website owners should plan accordingly. Tanked from one hour to the next

As it currently stands, I’m cooked. I’ve been building a website since the end of March. It’s a UK property research tool that combines data from the Land Registry, EPC, ONS and other sources so you can quickly surface fundamental data on properties, streets, postcode areas etc. The idea is to provide user-friendly reference data and analytics that’s poorly covered by listings sites like Rightmove. Target audience is property investors, homebuyers, estate agents etc. The surface area of the site is large - only 50K pages are indexed so far but the total site is 15m+ pages. I gradually worked up to 4K impressions per day with about 4% CTR driving 150 clicks. Most of this traffic was coming from long tail searches - people Googling an address clicking onto the site and generally nosing around other houses on the same street etc. Then on Saturday evening clicks went to zero, literally from one hour to the next. Two days later, I get a handful of clicks per day from Google search. Fee...

How do beginner bloggers find competitor websites in their niche without paying for Ahrefs Standard?

I've been using Ahrefs Starter ($29/mo) for my blog, but their Content Explorer feature (finding websites by niche/keyword + Domain Rating range) is locked behind the $249/mo Standard plan. I've been manually Googling niche keywords and checking each site's DR one by one — takes forever. How do you all handle this? Free tools, some other paid alternative, or just manual grind? Also curious — would a simple tool that just does this (enter niche/keyword + DR range → get matching websites) for around $12/month be useful to you, or is this a non-issue for most people? submitted by /u/hamzaali_2377 [link] [comments] from The SEO Authority https://ift.tt/klXbVeN

Query Fan-out

Hello guys. I have this question on my mind that when someone searches in LLMs, the LLM does the query fanout; it basically uses a search engine to search so when an LLM performs searches by fanning out queries, do GSC or Bing Webmaster Tools show those queries?? Like in that query tab in GSC, will those queries be included that LLM made during the fanout process? Provided that the website ranks well in organic search. submitted by /u/AH-26-11 [link] [comments] from The SEO Authority https://ift.tt/ABlEPjg

Should I Build One Website or Multiple Sites While Testing Different Services?

Hi everyone, I'm starting a new contractor business in California. My license allows me to offer a fairly wide range of products and services rather than operating in only one narrow niche. The website may eventually include categories such as: Garage doors Entry and interior doors Gates Openers and access control Windows Awnings and shades Installation, repair, maintenance, and emergency service An online product catalog Some of these services will be aimed at residential customers, while others will be primarily for commercial clients, property managers, general contractors, and public-sector projects. In some categories, I may serve both residential and commercial customers, but the sales process, content, and customer expectations will be very different. I also don't plan to develop every category equally from the beginning. I want to test different products and services first. If I see strong customer demand and reasonable competition in a particular categor...

When someone asks "Is GEO/AEO real or just SEO with a new name / hype?

It's partly rebranding and partly a real shift, and it's worth separating the two. The hype: a lot of "GEO agencies" are selling the same audit deck they sold as SEO with find-and-replace on the acronym. Be skeptical of anyone promising you'll "rank #1 in ChatGPT" — there's no ranking to buy. The real part: the mechanics of how you get surfaced genuinely changed. Classic SEO optimizes a page to win a click. Answer/generative optimization is about being the source a model quotes when it writes the answer, which rewards being cited across many credible places rather than owning one keyword. Practically, the fundamentals overlap 70% with good SEO — crawlable content, clear structure, real authority — but the measurement and the emphasis on off-site mentions are new. My take: don't buy a separate "GEO product." Do SEO well, add entity consistency and FAQ-style content, and track your visibility in the actual AI tools. If an agency can'...
