Pillar content question

With the pillar content and (I can't remember the term for the posts that stem from the pillar page,) to link to related posts? Is it good for posts that are connected to a pillar page let's say content marketing, then there's a post that links to it about marketing using custom links on social media, so this post would then also link to the social media pillar, if that makes sense. So it kind of ends up being a spider web at points rather than one pillar and content surrounding that. I hope you follow, my question is, is that best practice? Obviously I mean when topics are actually related and relevant, is it ok for them to interlink? Is that the goal? I'm sure I know this but I'm mapping a plan for a site and just want to be sure. Thanks for your help. submitted by /u/Wannabe_a_Blogger [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/32SbbEV

Does this sound normal to you?

I've done 100's of SEO projects and have written 100's of articles now and not once have I been asked for a screen share of how I do my process, research, write my content, what tools I use, etc. A new contact that wants to contract me out, wants to "see if I know my stuff", what do you all think? How do you find clients?

Many of you here have built and developed great businesses with SEO. I've mostly been watching and taking notes and using what I've learned to do pretty well with my own website. A lot of the things that I've learned has really been manifesting itself with my own site. That being said, it's just a side gig. I still have my 9 to 5, and I'm looking to leave it (hopefully in the next year). For those of you who do this for a living, what do you do to obtain clients? How do you get that first one? What do you wish you knew when you first started out and what would you do differently given what you know now? submitted by /u/mel34760 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3mOwhLA

Is backlinking between my sites safe?

Hello Everyone :) I currently have two affiliate sites connected under the same Google search console account. I'm thinking about starting to back-link from my big "site #1" to "site #2". If I do that, knowing that they are both under the same google account, will google see that as bad practice or some kind of PBN? (I'm always looking for clean white-hat work to avoid any penalization) Thank you in advance for your valuable inputs. submitted by /u/kurosaki4d [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3eGAQmM

Cannibalizing Pages - Keyword overlap

Two pages trying to rank for WW2 Reenactment Groups WW2 Reenactments 1 is a directory page for the actual organizations that put together events, the other is a page for events. I see in search console there is some cannibalization going on. Both pages ranking for "ww2 reenactments near me ". Any tips on how to get these two pages to differentiate? I will say that it has gotten a lot better over time and it seems google is smart enough to figure out the differentiation but if there is anything I can do myself to help it along that would be great. submitted by /u/Milsurpia [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3JwLA5C

Local SEO question: is is worth building a blog around the topic?

Hey there, I run a small local business (a type of medical consulting) and I am currently on google's second page for "keyword localtion". I set up "My Business" entirely and since I am one of only three competitors with actual reviews (currently 16 with 5 stars, only two have more) I regularly appear in the results above the organic results. I was however wondering if it's worth hiring someone to write some basic blog-like articles (since I don't have the time) for keywords about my niche to "expand" the page from the two or three pages it has right now. I want to appear on the organic first page, for nothing more than "keyword location" - is this the way to go? Usual "local SEO tips" focus on different local keywods, like "keyword location price" or "keyword location tips" but there aren't really any searches besides "keyword location" and it would seem kind of ridicoulus to set up sit...

SEO for Beginners in 2022

Hello Reddit friends, I hope all of you are doing well. I would like to share a few things regarding SEO with beginners who can also use it. When any newbie goes for SEO, then they need to do a few things for their website. 1) Site Structure: You should do one thing. You need to check "Site Structure" and you can go through W3C Validation Tools where you will be able to check website markup errors, CSS errors, broken links errors, etc. 2) Keywords Research: After that, you need to do keyword research for the website, and you can go through the Keywords Planner Tools. These tools are free, and you can get good keyword ideas from here. 3) Content: You also need to check the website's content. If a website have duplicate content, or thin content, then you need to remove that and need to keep fresh and unique content for every page of the website. 4) On-page Optimization Process: On-page optimization refers to the process of properly optimising your website's title...

[backlink building] Does the actual topics of your backlink profile matter for SERP ranking?

I'm building backlinks for a software company. When I look at their backlink profile on Majestics I see that the top 4 categories of their topical trustflow are 1. Sports 2. Media & entertainment 3. Recreation The categories that should be there -in my opinion- are Computers / Software / Internet. Do you think it would be beneficial to make an effort in changing these categories to the correct ones by making the sports/recreation backlinks no-follow & adding more backlinks from software blogs? submitted by /u/Growth_Hack_John [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/32MvYtG

How much should a Outreach Specialist make?

Looking for some guidance on how much I should make. I'm a part time outreach specialist for a company. I basically just email websites and get a backlink or get the website to guest post our article (Which also results in a backlink). I do not create the content, and I don't pay for the guest posting fee or backlink fee. I'm currently making $780 a month to do this. Not sure what the market rate is for this type of position or service. I've gotten over 50 backlinks for the company so far, and some big websites with a lot of traffic. The work is extremely easy, I just send emails, takes me about maybe 10hrs a week to do the job. After that it's a bunch of back and forth conversations that go on for days to negotiate price, payment, article being sent, and other things related to the backlink. Outside of this I'll report how many links I've gotten in the month (They want a minimum of 6, and 3 have to DR 50+). Please help guide me, I'm fairly young and n...

H1 / H2 best practices question

Hey guys quick question. I'm working on a site that includes a slider as the showcase. 3 slides, each include a heading of course. I'm wondering what the best practices are - if the slides include an H2 each, then to place a single H1 below the showcase at the beginning of the content? My advice to webmasters and marketers

I have been working as an email marketer for 7 years, I worked with tens of cpa networks. Some of them were good but most of them were bad and classify them as thieves and skimmers like the infamous Ad1 Marketing, one of the worst networks out there. Anyway, I have been struggling to find a respectable network that can provide me with brand campaigns and be paid in different cpa model like CPL and CPC (better than Adsense) until I found ProfityAds, I have been working with them for the last months and what I can say is that they are great, their support is great and they pay on time. So anyone looking to join should have high quality traffic and respect their terms and conditions. You can join their platform here Profityads.com They also provide their marketers with the tools they need to make serious bucks. submitted by /u/DaFineLadChamp [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/32pIf7L

Ahrefs reporting thousands of spammy backlinks in the past month from subdomains of high DR sites

I've noticed that myself and many of our competitors (and various niches) are getting hammered with spammy backlinks from really high DR, legit sites (including edu and gov) the past month. URLs are all structured like this: https://<random subdomain>.<site>.edu/d7s87x/<page>.html The first subdirectory is a randomly generated, 6 character folder name. All these sites are legit, which makes me think that there must be a major plugin or Wordpress exploit that is allowing these things to be randomly generated on so many real websites. Anyone know of a recently announced exploit that would be causing this? There are too many to disavow and the sites are real, legitimate websites of companies, universities, etc. so I don't think disavowal is a good idea. Anybody here seeing the same thing in Referring Domains in Ahrefs lately? Edit: It can't be a Wordpress exploit, since many of these sites aren't using Wordpress. What else could allow hackers to c...

Back Link assistance required

My new client shows an 89% 'nofollow' back link profile. My first stop is always their competition's backlinks and if we can do something similar. Oh-oh - they have the same weak backlink results. In fact, they are all linked to basically the same sites. To complicate things further, our product is only ever written about in a negative sense: Anti 'Personal FinTech' is the predominant sentiment online. I have already stated (with Hubris!) "I don't pay for links." and the two services I signed up on my own dime on the quiet have only received more 'nofollow' links. Best SEO Startups?

It's hard to compete in the SEO landscape when everyone is using the same tools (ahrefs, semrush, screaming frog, etc...). What you really want is an asymmetric technological advantage . Here's an example: When it comes to writing SEO content, the traditional solution is to hire more writers. But a new solution would be using a tool like copy(dot)ai or jarvis(dot)ai to write most of the content, and hire only one editor to make sure the results make sense. This means you'll spend less money + write more content faster than any competitor. That's a true technological advantage. Are there other tools you've found that help in the same way? (the answer doesn't have to, but probably should involve startups since they're the ones constantly looking for better solutions in the SEO world) Something that helps with keyword research? Something that helps with on-page optimization? Something that helps with writing? Something that helps with backlink b...

Google has a lot to process & index these days.

It looks like Google is taking months to find new pages (especially if the website/blog is new) and index them. It's been over 2 months since I wrote a few pieces but they haven't been indexed yet. But yeah, if it is zero KD keyword (in Ahrefs), then it is indexing/ranking pretty fast. Not sure how Google bots are working these days. 🤷🏻‍♀ submitted by /u/Careful-Warning3155 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/317of9e

Is this worth following up on?

A solicitor's website is very outdated + the only on page seo they have is really title & h1 tags. The best thing going for them is the content on the website. They rank very high however due to being established for a long time & good reviews. My main question is, for a well established company that ranks high, but has very bad technical/on page seo, has anyone seen results by improving it? I'd like to reach out to them, but not if I can't deliver results. This would include structured data tied to their business, meta tags, better on page seo, not just one h1 tag & then a title tag. Also, since I do web design, I'd redo the website, better call to actions & better mobile experience. Forgive me, I've only done seo & keyword research for new websites, not well established ones. submitted by /u/trowaway1234556789 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3etG5Gs

Redirect my old domain to new one to benefit from high DR backlinks?

I have an old site (from 2012) that I'm no longer using, but which has backlinks from some high authority domains for some of my old guest posts and interviews. How much to charge for backlink services?

Not sure how much I should be charging a client I have for back link services I've been completing. I've gotten some very big DA back links for this client that have DA 50+. Decision: Hiring Firm with GREAT creating/digital marketing capabilities but OK seo knowledge Or Hiring company w/ OK creative & design but GREAT seo knowledge

This is the dilemma we are in. We are in the IT sector. Option A is a digital marketing company that creates unique and artistic websites that really pop. But their client portfolio seo numbers are not too impressive when ran on ahrefs or semrush. They are also pushing a rebrand (as an extra option), which we are 50/50 on. Our name is pretty generic currently. But we still rank decent in a saturated market. Feel like rebranding will cause us to freefall a bit. Option B is a firm that has a great track record of rankings for current clients, but their content/design is very stale and boring. Almost like every other firm in our industry. Curious what majority's take here is here. We are leaning with option B, because results speak, but for the investment think we might get more value with better looking site. Could make argument that with a more creative/memorable site you can pair with PPC and have more success. Also the option of eventually hiring organic seo contractors to g...

Google SEO Is Broken Search Console Is Not Crawling My Website Links

On the 24th of November half of my website links showed up with 'pages with errors' on the Google Search Console, when I never had any errors before. On the 6th of December I noted a Google information link located at the bottom of the 'Coverage' section in the Console. In this link Google stated that "December 6-14 - An internal issue caused an increase of redirect errors during indexing, and associated email notifications. This was not due to any website issues, but was due to an internal Google issue. Pages that were dropped from the index have been scheduled for recrawling." The traffic for my website is now almost non-existent and is stressing me out. The pages have not been recrawled yet, even after various attempts to do so. Relocating & Renaming Business - Need To Keep Reviews

I've had a business in one location that has accumulated over a number of years like 15 positive, good Google and Yelp reviews... Because I'm no longer going to be doing business with someone who I was partnered with, along with switching offices (to a different state but not that far away), both my business name and my location will be changing. I know Google has an article on this saying that if you change both, you can't keep the reviews, but is there any way to do it, for example if it only changes gradually? Like what if I move, keep the name, verify the new address, wait 3 months, and then change the name? For what it's worth, the reviews are genuinely for my services. What is the best way to show reviews from Google My Business without slowing your website?

We were using a widget to embed the reviews from Google to our Wordpress website. The SEO team we are hiring took it off and suggest us to manual replicate each review to put on our website. This is doable but seems very time consuming and inefficient. I was wondering what tools or methods could be used to accomplish this without slowing our site. Ahrefs shows a lot of nofollow backlinks from one country - How could this happen?

I was looking on my Ahrefs account to start doing SEO and making a good backlink profile, and I saw that since this month, weird backlinks are added on daily base. Luckily they are all nofollow, but still this doesn't seem right. How is that possible? I did not pay anyone to do a backlink campaign or anything. I am managing everything myself. Could these links be bad for my ranking? The links are all nofollow from Indian Domains submitted by /u/Chefstars [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3syDEL7

How are group buys legal? Can somebody explain to me how a group buy is different than piracy?

This isnt a moral question, I just dont understand the distinction here. Scenario 1: A group of 5 people all put $100 in the hat for a $500 course/software. One of the 5 guys takes everyones $100, buys the product, and then shares it with all 5 people. This is a group buy. It is apparently legal, but generally against TOS. Scenario 2: One guy puts forth his own $500 to buy the same course/software. He uploads it to a warez site and shares it with a bunch of people. This is piracy and it is illegal. Its the exact same thing. One guy is legally buying a single unit of product and sharing it with multiple people. What is it that allows group buys to legally exist? submitted by /u/CoyotePuncher [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3pn5lVc

Winning at short-term SEO

Hi, I run a small news blog that publishes both long-term stories that I would like to last a long time in terms of search results as well as short-term news stories. For instance, one long-term story might be focused on a general search query on a topic while the short-term one might involve a recent CDC study that was posted. My question pertains to the latter type: how does one do well with news stories in the short-term? How can I improve my ranking in the top news carousel given that my pages have AMP versions, schema, and utilize keywords relating to the news topic? And what is a good strategy for creating these stories so that although they might get most of their views in the short-term, they can still serve as a means for minor traffic? And one more thing—does Google look down on having many news stories that don’t get a ton of views, being more interested in long-form content that can last a long period in search results? Thanks for any help, I’m very interested what the ...

Pinterest SEO

was wondering if anyone has much experience on Pinterest in relation to SEO. Looking to get images ranking highly on Pinterest for non branded terms which could be posted by a company to then get social media/referral traffic back to thier site. Can you submit images to existing boards that rank well or create your own board for that keyword but would be competing against existing content?
