Please Help! My Google Listing was suspended and business marked closed

Hello, I run a business which operates heavily online. Much of our business comes from being ranked very high on Google ranking. We are the dominant player in our town. I don't want to go into specifics of our business here for privacy reasons. Hope you understand. Our business hired a company to do our web admin and SEO work. This initially worked very well but over the years, our website had been compromised several times and support was not provided swiftly affecting our daily business. Currently, we sense the present firm is doing all it can to milk us for money. moreover, we think they have sensed that we might be looking to move our business to a different provider. Basically, the following events have occurred and I'm wondering if there is any way I can dig up some evidence to gather some logs as to what has been happening. All of a sudden I received an email a few days back from Google saying "your business has been marked closed". Can this actually happ...

All-Time High Keyword Rankings, but Decreases In Organic Traffic?

Hi all! I’m seeing some all time high rankings in overall keywords as well as an all time high in page one rankings on an e-commerce website. What are some talking points as to why there are decreases in organic traffic? My theory is user behavior. Lots of people are going directly to Reddit, Amazon, etc. rather than searching on Google. Is this the Correct way to "Add Expire Headers" to the website?!

As suggested by the Pingdom Website Analysis Report - Expire Headers are needed to be added to the website - to increase the website speed. Found this through a resource - Host Provider cPanel >> File Manager >> public_html >> .htaccess (Edit) >> Paste Code Is this correct?! - Since I don't get much involved in cPanel and stuff - I want to be careful before I touch anything and mess it up. PS. I'm using LightSpeed Cache. is there any other way to set it up without touching the .htaccess file in the cPanel's File Manager?! How Might One Use SEO Tools for Market Research and Competitive Analysis?

TLDR: How would you approach researching the competitive landscape of an early-stage business with little to no budget, with the end goal being to help them refine their positioning strategy. Hi all, I’m a brand and marketing strategist who recently started volunteer mentoring early stage business owners. One of the areas I'm focused on is helping them to narrow their positioning and uncover more effective ways to differentiate themselves. This obviously starts with at least a hypothesis about who one's competitors are, however when I ask this question of my mentees, I'm discovering that most don't have an answer. These are mostly internet based product (e-commerce) and service (consulting, creative services) businesses trying to stand out in competitive markets. So I'm really trying to beat the drum on the importance of clear differentiation. I'd like to provide them with a process beyond just Googling it, to get at least a picture of the businesses they...

Ahref Question: Every time I look at Organic Keywords, this uses up a Report usage in my limits

Is there any way to look at my site and statistics multiple times within a day without wasting multiple report amounts? I usually look at the organic keyword page few times without exporting but I realise this wastes my usage/limits. I have added these keywords to the Rank Tracker, but I don't think it shows ranking history in the Rank Tracker. Some advice would be greatly appreciated. Not sure if it's good that SEO tools like Yoast can modify the URL slug

If you learn about slugs, permalinks, permalink structures and perhaps even install an additional permalink manager you'll notice soon that this can become quite complicated Now I wonder, if it is really good that Yoast and other SEO tools can edit the slug. Changing the slug can have a huge impact and should not be done just like that. I think it can happen easily that an editor who should only edit content and SEO meta descriptions also changes the slug (and messes up the entire site) submitted by /u/marcos987 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/5dQDNZ1

Name change and domain change: checklist for next steps?

We just recently changed our company name and URL. All of our blogs and existing content are coming with the new site. Number of Clicks away from home

I know it’s important to have your products as close to the home page as possible, or at least I’ve always understood that you don’t want to be more than 3 clicks deep because those pages are viewed with less importance and users have a harder time finding them. I have categories for our products and more than 100 different products for some of our categories. I can’t place all of the products on the category page because our ahref count starts to grow pretty fast. I’ve always understood that it’s best to keep your links to well under 100 per page. Some of our category pages have over 400 urls on the page (other links other than products) so my only option appears to be creating another page just to categorize all of these products into a subgroup. Now I’m creating a whole new page just for a subset of a category which puts products 3+ clicks away from home and has a risk of duplicate content. Perhaps paginating this content on the category page (one click from home) is the best met...

How do I keep my SEO keyword-optimized content ranking after it's published?

I write blogs and web content for a business's website. I use SEM rush and other keyword research tools to target a keyword. This works great for the first few weeks once the article or page is optimized, but how do I keep the page high on Google's rankings once it's published? Do I reoptimize for a different keyword? Do I make updates to the article over time? I'm sick of articles only bringing in web traffic for a few weeks and then seeing the page slip on the rankings. submitted by /u/ProfessionalNo3433 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/hVLBItU

Do You Guys Still Make Big Money?

I started doing SEO back in 2010, learned it quickly, and worked with some big clients. Also, created my own sites in many niches and ranked them easily. My sites were on the first page of Google for very hard keywords, I think only huge companies can secure those spots nowadays. Finding new unsaturated niches was easy, there were lots of writers who competed and articles were very cheap. Making money was very very easy. Adsense, affiliate programs, clients. I was making 30x more than regular people in my country. Life was good. But I knew it will not last long. Things started to change, I would say, in 2016-2018. Big media sites started spying on me (yes, I discovered some very lucrative niches) and producing content on the same topic as me. My rankings started dropping from the first position to the second, then to the third etc. As soon as another big website published an article on the same topic as me, they outranked me. At the same time buying links on some strong sites stop...

High traffic on a somewhat irrelevant page - good or bad for the site overall?

I work for a SaaS vendor, and a while back we posted something on our blog about Gmail and app-specific passwords because it was likely to affect some of our users. That blog post is now one of the most visited pages in the site. I've been considering removing it, as it's likely skewing what Google thinks our site is about and is attracting a lot of irrelevant visitors. Am I thinking correctly here, or is getting "more visits" better than not even if they're from people who aren't our target audience? submitted by /u/arothmanmusic [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/ZBXAYCP

How Do Inactive Blogs Rank so High?

I've been an SEO blogger and editor for roughly 5 years, but have little experience outside of kw density, backlinks, and basic topic research. With that said, I have begun researching how to offer SEO as a full-service freelancer. My first client is a close friend. They have a very successful product in a niche community (tarot). Upon my search for competitors, I have discovered that some of the top ranking blogs don't have very many posts at all under "tarot blogs" My friend's site (on shopify) has never blogged outside of some campaign updates. Are these competitors spending advertising dollars to make their websites rank so high? Would an active blog on an already successful website be enough to start ranking for this niche? FWIW, the current DA is 37. Thanks! submitted by /u/bodyturnedup [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/HlJDR9m

What makes a keyword a keyword?

Ive been looking all over to see exactly what makes a keyword a keyword. I use Yoast, and when I type in keywords it only allows one. However when i check some of my pages on semrush, it shows up to 20 keywords while other have 1 with the same amount of content and links etc. When i look at the page source of my competitors websites, i see the have a meta named “keywords” and “descriptions”. I did some research and apparently Yoast doesnt do that because they think its useless. So what makes a keyword a keyword? Just appearing in the contents? Appearing in the H1? Coded into the meta? I have 1500 word pages with 2 keywords. submitted by /u/throwwaayys [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/ypftoID

Did I get a quality backlink?

I found a blogging website that specialises in my niche (fishkeeping). They do guest posts, I reached out to them, wrote a 1.2k word article, and payed 20 bucks they asked. Their website has 20 DA, and is getting like 50k traffic every month. I got my first dofollow backlink, but is it a quality backlink? Are niche backlinks more effective than basic generic backlinks? What Sites Rank Well Using Wix?

Alright everyone, I’ve gotten a client, he’s using WIX. I review the google page speed insights and GT metrix score to find… That their website is structured horribly. They have pages not being indexed, but the pages are quality, information, and very well written. My thought is that they aren’t being indexed due to the websites overall quality. - poor speed - long load times - images taking forever to load - etc. So my question is can you provide a website that is ranking really well that uses Wix? How hard is it for a competitor to knock me off of the 1 spot

Hi First of all I am extremely new to SEO, only read about it briefly. My idea is this: Lets say I find a bunch of keywords which do not have a lot of competitors and I relatively easily get to the first spot. Now in my country we have listings websites who have a bunch of keywords under their belt. How hard would it be for them to just get SEO done for my exact keyword and just knock me out of the first spot? I guess my question is is the game fair for everyone or do certain domains who have significant keywords have an advantage? So yeahh probably a stupid question but yeahh. I'm doing SEO for a laundry delivery service and thinking of targeting keywords like "how to wash white clothes" and "how to get stains out of a silk shirt", both of which will likely have a very low conversion rate. Do you think it's worth it to create this type of content given the low conversion rates? They are less competitive than the site's primary keywords and my thinking is that they will help boost the site's authority for all things "laundry".
