I was never hit my this mysterious March Update

Not trying to brag, but genuinely curious... because I don't want to get "hit" by some mysterious algorithmic updates... I never even noticed any change in traffic... if anything, I've seen a steady (but not drastic) growth in traffic this year. No idea what constituted to sites getting affected... Any thoughts? submitted by /u/OrangeIsLike [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/yK2El3h

Building a Glossary - Seeking Best Practices and Advice

Hey fellow Redditors, I've been working on a website for the past few months and have now reached a milestone of around 30-40 blogs. My client works with startups, so I've decided to create a glossary for their industry. I've researched the common structure of glossaries and found that a pillar page with content organized by letter (e.g., terms starting with "A", "B", etc.) is a popular approach. My question is: should I link each term to a dedicated blog page that specifically defines that term, or focus on creating content that ranks well for the keyword on Google search? I'm currently following an approach where I: Create the pillar glossary page with all the terms Create internal pages for each term, structured similarly to top-ranking blogs for that keyword However, I'd love to hear from anyone who has experience building glossaries. Is there a different approach I should consider? Should I prioritize defining the terms or focus on ...

SEO agency

I have been working as SEO & Content specialists for 3 years now, but have majorly worked as an full time employee for 2 websites as of now, did pretty well for both them. Made lot of mistakes, learned hell lot of things, and I am still learning, and to continue my process I want to work with diverse clientele and the best way to do that is by working for an agency. Just to give a quick background on the work, Got a German based apartment rental website ranked on first page for the targeted keywords in 3 months. I worked on the on- page SEO (kw research & optimisation) & wrote content, what really worked their was the implementation of FAQs section on the listing page. Got crypto based company, to rank on first page for several kws through their free tool pages, landing pages and of course blogs, here it took longer than expected as the competition was on the higher side, but took an year to achieve the results. Is this an appropriate question to ask during job interview?

Hey! I apologize in advance if this isn't the best place to ask this question. I have a final interview coming up this week for an SEO Specialist role at a digital marketing & website development company. I've already talked about my skills, even did a test assignment/audit report for them which landed me this final interview. I know that final interviews can often be about seeing if I'm a right fit for the team, but I also wanted to take the time to ask a deeper question about the company. Would this be an appropriate question to ask them: How has the outcome of the recent antitrust lawsuit against Google affected your company’s future plans? I do want to acknowledge that this is a pretty fresh suit and as far as I'm aware, no terms have been laid out to Google yet. But I wanted to display that I am interested in this industry, I keep up with it's news, and also get an even deeper look into the company's thoughts and planning. Idk, it was just a though...

Slashed by Update or Indexing Issue?

Hey, Since 27th July one of my site got a very powerful boost (will post image in the first comment), and on at 16/17th August all went down to nearly 0. But then I saw a lot of pages were deindexed, is this part of Core Update? I thought you "just" got really bad derankings in positions, but de-indexing? I tried reindexing some of them, it work for some, but most of them disappeared from Google, and no manual action notice or anything similar. submitted by /u/Aggravating_Fault_22 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/sWKtd71

Let's say I get about 7% clicks on my blog from ranking in long tail keywords. Does that mean I'll have to target and rank in a list of keywords that generate a combined monthly search volume of 1.5 million to be able to get to 100,000 visitors (7% of 1.5 mn)? Is my math correct here?

How do you write keyword focussed blog posts fast?

I'm struggling to create quality content worthy of ranking at the top for the keywords in my niche on a regular basis and fast. It takes me a good amount of time, sometimes upto 3-4 hours, to structure and write the kind that of content that has previously resulted in top rankings in SERPS for my keywords. I thought AI would help me out but ChatGPT or Google Gemini both have become pretty dumb and even with their aid it takes me a good amount of time to write. I'm thinking of hiring a freelance writer but not sure if they'd actually be putting this much effort in writing. They'd resort to quick fixes, AI, keyword stuffing and what not. Ahrefs Reports 374 posts removed from Sitemap that are indexable

Ahrefs Reports 374 posts removed from Sitemap that are indexable. I will try and give as much detail as I can. What I have done to check, and where I may be wrong. I noticed a small change in GSC lately, not a major lose, maybe 45%. Starting on the 17th. I do not think this is a hit from the Google Core Update, because I am seeing the numbers go up and down. I can also site:seach the articles and find my site. i also am coming up on GSC and Keywords still. So I do not think my site was hit. What I did. I wasn't being indexed from the plugin Google News Sitemap, so I redid everything, the next day I saw on my GSC articles were getting minor impressions on the Google News tab. not a ton, but some. I had not seen any impressions on Google News prior. Then AHREFS report came back saying 374 pages removed from Sitemap. I went back into my WordPress settings and noticed in the reading section that only Google News Sitemap was clicked in the Enable XML Sitemaps. Was this my error, sh...

Sitemap last crawled 20 days ago - normal?

Hello All New to SEO and have been making as much changes as possible to both on page and off page SEO. The problem is that on my Search Console I can see that my sitemap was last read over 20 day ago. As a result, most of the indexed pages are all from that time and Googlebot has not come back to my website at all. Is this normal for a new website? if not, what can I do here? Using SEO to improve discoverability by chatbots

EDIT: I should have specified genAI chatbots in my title. My bad. Greetings. I have what I think is an interesting question. A lot of discussion and articles I've seen online about SEO and chatbots focus on how integrating chatbots onto a site can impact that site's SEO. What I have not seen is a lot of discussion around how potential buyers are using genAI chatbots to generate their consideration sets, and what brands can do to improve their inclusion in chatbots' replies to questions like this. I have a client who shared a story from a partner firm of theirs. This partner firm recently signed a new client who found out about them by asking ChatGPT for recommendations in their domain. This partner firm was included in ChatGPT's response and ended up with a new client. We tested ChatGPT and Gemini and asked for recommendations in my client's domain. Both bots understood the ask, which is a nichey B2B SaaS product, and offered up real, valid recommendations--but ...

Slowly I believe there is still an "Issue" with Google

Because when I saw the recent Updates and with a view to our competitors: They lost really fast 60-90%, got deindexed and never recovered (or at least no new keywords ranking or even improved). But what I saw at our site: The SERPs are goin WILD! I mean our indexing in GSC went from 1300 down to 335... A lot of big keywords from Top 3 disappeared BUT a lot of good Keywords got a boost. Alle the keywords go up and down. At the end we lost about 25% of our traffic since 15th August. submitted by /u/Aggravating_Fault_22 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/2As7JOU

Looking for expert thoughts on removing some language subdomains

Hello, We run an ecommerce shop that's been sinking in the rankings for over a year now. We have always traditionally not paid a huge amount of attention to SEO and have had great success simply by offering our products in English but also in a large range of other languages (at this time 30). By doing this we hit a lot of markets that weren't being targeted by others. Our translations are dealt with automatically by a plugin called Gtranslate and so are machine translated by Google Translate. We've done some digging and have decided to remove 8 further languages as we're not doing a great deal of business there and this would reduce the overall size of the website by 80,000 pages, which is obviously significant. One of the languages is Japanese. Japanese users account for around 50% of all users on the website and Google Analytics tells us that they have an average engagement time of around 1 minute and a bounce rate of 46.9% whereas say the UK has an engagement time...

GA4 Help - PDP metrics

Hi everyone, another day another problem with GA4 amirite? I am attempting to make a quick dashboard to review PDPs using the explorer tab. We recently hired a third party to handle our SEO but now we want to track their progress and have our own KPIs. I feel pretty confident on how I set up my dashboard, that being I set up one a year ago to track organic traffic, so I used the similar baseline, just adding a segment for the PDP page (page path + query strong). For some odd reason it is not pulling any revenue type data? But I am seeing other KPIs such as bounce, sess duration, sess, add to cart etc. But no conversion or $$$$ KPIs (which exec mostly care about) Can anyone help with this? My boss isn’t sure either. submitted by /u/theonlyspacecowboy [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/uPa9bOJ

Squarespace Built-In Domain Indexing Problem

Has anyone encountered this - I have a website that's about a year old on Squarespace that was doing fine. We made a bunch of new pages a few weeks ago, but now they are indexing and ranking with Squarespace's built-in domain. The built-in domain wasn't ranking for anything before. I am not sure if it was indexing, because I only just setup Search Console once I noticed this problem. All the new content is indexed there and not in the real domain's Search Console. I submitted a removal request on the built-in domain's Search Console and individually submitted URL indexing requests on the real domain's Search Console. Anyone had this happen? I can only find a post or two when this occurred to a brand new site. Is it better for this final item to be a link pointing to the same product page, or should it just be plain text without a link? Need Advice

Hi, I’m learning a bit about SEO, and a few months ago, I created a website to gather information about a specific type of fish. The thing is, my site is only about these fish, and there aren't many other pages in Spanish since they aren’t very well-known outside of Japan. There are just a few forums with care guides or stores that sell them, but no blogs or detailed information. I’m considering how to approach improving my site’s search visibility, and I’m not sure if it’s a good idea to create related articles in the blog section that link my fish to more general topics. For example, my fish is a cold-water species, so I was thinking of writing an article titled "Cold-water fish compatible with [my fish's name]." Do you think this is a good approach, or would it be better to focus solely on "my fish" to strengthen the main keywords? I’m asking because the fish isn’t very well-known, and I’m wondering if linking it to other general aquarium keywords migh...

Got a car detailer to rank #1 in 2 and a half months!

I’ve been testing a lot of different SEO strategies and using one of them I successfully got a client to rank #1 for several keywords that bring in business. Basically the strategy is creating content on his website that has visitors coming back every single day, and then promoting it through social media. This generates a ton of traffic and domain authority. I also of course did all the basics, but I genuinely believe I owe much of this success to the aforementioned strategy. submitted by /u/shacakeo [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/LCSfclR

Making a previously-built site SEO friendly

Hi all--I've only seen (and built) websites from the ground up, and now I am working with an arts organization that has a pre-existing site. Obviously in the redesign we'll include SEO practices, but I am wondering if there is anything about this being a previously existing site with previously existing assets that has pitfalls or opportunities I'm missing. One thing I was thinking is maybe we should we rename audio and video assets with keywords? (It's not that huge of a site, I could probably automate ). We're not looking to get huge amounts of traffic but I'd like for our name to be associated with the artists we work with, etc. submitted by /u/burnbunner [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/9ADlQMB

Do I even need SEO?

I am starting a small on-site computer support business (for both individuals and local small businesses) in a very rural area of western Arkansas. I live on the county line between a county with about 20,000 residents and an other with about 9,000. I have started down the SEO path with advice from my son who is very knowledgeable and successful with SEO in regards to his own web sites. He has had numerous page one sites over the years and currently has two (he has sold the other sites due to other obligations and people named his price). Google crawled my site two days ago and of course it is too early to tell if my site will rank or not. To be honest there are only one or two legitimate competitors. One has nothing but a Facebook page and consistently not only ranks 1st on Google, but his Yelp profile, Google Business Profile, etc all rank 1st page as well. He does have an actual shop (that looks like my junk drawer). Another is a college student with a quick and dirty two page we...

Local SEO: With Google Call Reporting Gone, What Are You Replacing that Metric With?

Hi Guys, so with Google no longer reporting the number of calls businesses receive, what are you pivoting to to show your value to local clients? Obviously increases in traffic but that doesn't necessarily turn into increased revenue for local businesses. And even if it does, it's hard to quantify unless they tell you about it. Same can be said about calls, but it's a more easily understood metric, and heck the moment their phones start ringing off the hook they are praising your work. Want to scale your link building without breaking the bank?

The magic trick is... Finding one media site in your industry with good metrics that allows you to buy an author account. Once you find it, schedule 2 posts a month with them. Each post should be a long-form topic with plenty of sections. Before submitting to the editor, you reach out to valuable sites in your niche and offer an A-B-C swap. You'll link to them in your article if they link to your site from their blog. Pro Tip: Try to get at least five agreements per post. If it works out, you'll get at least ten links a month from high-authority sites for a low cost. P.S. This should be one trick in your handbook but not your only trick; otherwise, the pattern is easy to pick up. Why are Blog website ranking faster and better than ecommerce website ?

I developed and design numerous blogs and websites but I've noticed, the blogs get indexed faster, rank faster and better than the ecommerce websites I've done ( in the same niche) . So what are the factor which gives such results, making blog have better clicks and exposure than ecommerce . Example a Blog about weight loss I've done will have far more visitors than the ecommerce or affiliate sales website to sell weight loss supplements and products. Even for other products such as sweatshirt blogs will get far better visitors in very interesting locations ( such as North American & EU) as compare to the ecommerce with more content and optimization techniques .
