Choosing the right framework does matter

Been in SEO for couple years now and I'm trying stuff every now and then. Like most SEOs I started with WordPress and encountered typical SEO and ranking issues until it got me where I am today. Half a year ago, I published a Website I have coded myself with SvelteKit, thinking a self-coded website must be more worth (EEAT score, performance, less duplicate code whatev). As an experiment, I recently launched a website I have done with GODADDY WEBSITE BUILDER WHICH IS ON ITS WAY TO OUTPERFORM MY SVELTEKIT site. It took me less than 3 hours to build it from scratch with GoDaddy Website Builder. My spirit is crushed ngl. It took my SvelteKit site half a year to rank for 100 keywords (20 of them top 10) whereas is it took my GoDaddy Website 1(!) week to rank for 100 keywords (0 of them top 10). My godaddy website has 0 backlinks / 0 ref domains whereas my svletekit site has 200+ backlinks / 30 ref domains. Imagine I start building links for the Godaddy website..... Also, the con...

SEO for longstanding sites where SEO fell off a cliff in 2020

One of my clients has 2 websites. A connects to B, but B does not connect back to A. Their SEO fell off a cliff in 2020, and no idea why. They produce a ton of content and aren't showing up until page 3 of search. They have Yoast on their Wordpress site, and various plugins from wordpress. Need to optimize the sites quickly. I am not the expert on this (Rev is my forte). We are going to be adding a podcast (using Podetize), and really want to amp things up for them, but the site feels stale, and the SEO is horrible. I don't know what I don't know, and and am stumbling through Yoast, considering SEMrush, and considering upwork to find help. There's so much info out there that it's a bit overwhelming. Where do I start, who do I start with, and how can I not screw this up? Thank you! submitted by /u/Most-Agency7094 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/Dm2l9aJ

7 SEO Lessons I've Learned in 2025 (So Far) - From Building a Competitor Analysis Tool

Hey r/SEO , I've been spending a lot of time lately building a competitor keyword research tool (more on that below!), and it's really forced me to dig deep into how SEO works today . Here are some of the key lessons I've learned – hopefully, they're helpful to you too: Keyword Gaps Are Gold: It's not enough to just know what keywords your competitors rank for. You need to know what they rank for that you don't . This is where the real opportunities lie. Focusing on these "gap" keywords has been a game-changer for my own site. (This is actually why I built the tool – to make finding these gaps easier). Relevance > Volume (Sometimes): High search volume is great, but relevance is even more important. A keyword with 100 searches per month that's perfectly aligned with your niche and audience is often more valuable than a keyword with 10,000 searches that's only tangentially related. I've seen much better results targeting tho...

Do Backlinks to One Language Version of a Site Boost the Other Language's Rankings?

Do Backlinks to One Language Version of a Site Boost the Other Language's Rankings? I'm working on a dual-language website (English + Thai) in the travel niche, and I have a question about how Google treats backlinks across different language versions. The site has: English pages targeting "Best Travel Deals Thailand" Thai pages targeting the local equivalent keyword Since it's much easier to get backlinks from Thai-language websites, I've been focusing on link-building for the Thai version of the site. However, my main goal is to rank the English version for searches like "Best Travel Deals Thailand" in English. My question: Will the backlinks to the Thai version indirectly help the English version rank? Since it's the same domain, does link equity flow between the language versions? Should I internally link the Thai pages to the English pages to pass authority? Would love to hear from anyone who has tested this or seen case studi...

Could someone help me with this breadcrumbs error in GSC?

Missing field 'itemListElement' Items with this issue are invalid. Invalid items are not eligible for Google Search's rich results. I tried out a few plugins in Wordpress, which didn't work (Breadcrumb - Pick Plugins, Breadcrumb NAVxt and Breadcrumb Block), however none worked due to the theme, and I undid changes and deactivated. However now I'm getting these errors in GSC. Would this be due to the changes, even though I deactivated the plugins? Or is this referencing the Structured Data and is just a coincidence? Sorry I am very new to technical SEO - any help appreciated! submitted by /u/Total_Strawberry_280 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/ziAxIeF

Best Tool for SEO Blog writing?

Struggling to understand what keywords my audience would be searching for.

My brand does hometown and destination apparel for US states. You would think that if you lived in, say, Alabama you would just search for ‘Alabama shirts’ or something like that to find us. Trouble is that a lot of people use that keyword to find Alabama university apparel, which is not us. So, I’m curious on thoughts to differentiate our brand from that type of search. submitted by /u/HomeTownRiot [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3hsRmxB

Am I Doing SEO Right?

Background : I've been a full stack developer for over 10 years. Did some basic SEO optimization and keyword research earlier in my career but never did any extensive SEO or marketing campaigns on my own. Last year I took on a client to fully rebuild their website and then handle SEO as an ongoing service. They are a small HVAC company (started in 2023) but they also service plumbing and electrical. Let’s call them company B. Previously the father of the owner of company B had his own HVAC company (company A) that was dissolved in 2022 as he retired. He passed all his business onto company B in 2023, so I had to convert anything that was already out there from company A to company B (Don’t know if this was a mistake or not but from my research it seemed fine to convert existing profiles as the staff, phone number, and existing customers is pretty much the same). It's been about 8 months since launching their new site and from months 3 to 7 it seemed like business was consist...

I'm so baffled - Any suggestions on why my site won't rank for this search term?

I don't wanna give away my niche, but I'll replace it with another. So, I have a website that posts, for example, pictures of actors. That's all it does. I'm trying to rank for the term pictures of actors - just to be extra clear, I don't have this site I'm just using this as an example. The SERP for the query 'pictures of actors' has a site, all written in French, that posts pictures of actors, and that ranks top. The rest of the results are blog posts on topics such as, how to use actors pictures in videos, a marketer's guide to actors pictures, the dos and don't of actors pictures, and so on. My site, which posts pictures of actors, and is written in English, languishes on page 5. To further add, it was on page 3 for ages, then jumped to second on page 1 for a few days, before falling back down to page 5. Now, I get there could be all sorts of reasons for this, but what absolutely blows my mind is that there's only two sites actually po...

Did you migrate your agency away from SEMRush? Care to share the story?

We are a ~20 client digital marketing agency, and have used SEMRUSH for a long, long time. But every time we do our end of year analysis of spending - SEMRush is one of our largest tool expenses...leading us to wonder if we should migrate before our May EOC. We're looking at a number of agency-class SEO tools, but I need to narrow down the ones we actually demo. Is this the year we should switch to an alternative? Are Google's new SERP scraping restrictions going to shuffle this tools market? Are there mostly equivalent features for those features we use most? Our fav Features: The lion's share of use is in keyword magic, position tracking, on-page audits (screaming frog is our primary), and various domain and traffic quick analysis (often while we have prospects on the phone...). Our clients never ask about longitudinal rank tracking beyond around 3-6 months, but it's worth mentioning we'll be letting years and years of data go in such a migration. We have a fe...

Business Name for SEO?

I have a question about business name and how it relates to optimizing SEO. I am creating an LLC, does that name matter if I’m going to be operating the business under a different name, using a DBA? I’m buying an established business, and will be keeping that name, but I am having to create a new LLC to purchase the assets. So I wanted to make sure if I need to be strategic in selecting my LLC name, or if it is mainly the DBA name that matters for SEO (I’ll be keeping their current domain and website and be looking to optimize it going forward.) submitted by /u/BigBoomer7 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/T8rbdwq

Ahrefs, Robots.txt and Hard down in Google

Hello People, I hope anyone could help me : For two months, I spend few hours per week to build a little lifestyle blog (40 articles). No AI, no Ads, no affiliate link, no duplicate content, no stealing, and I have a good exp and level in web/SEO in general. Four days ago, while I was growing, I got a huge, incomprehensible strike : from between 1500/2500 impressions for 50/80 clics per day to 100 impressions for 3/5 clics. I can't see any problem in the GSC, and no more where I try to find it else : - Page Index are "OK" - Sitemap OK - HTPPS : OK / Core Web Vitals : Full Good / Breadcrumbs : Full good - Manual Action or Security Problem : OK - Links : OK (nothing to disallow) - Google bot is still exploring the website a lot (between 300 to 400 per day) Offsite, I have good signals : social network sending trafic, organic backlink (from forums), a little Youtube account linked with one video who do some views... I cant found ANY FKCNG PROBLEM...! The only ...

Rankings Declined Terribly After the Brand Name Change, Need Help

Hello everyone, I have a service business running since 8 years. At one point, we were at the 1st rank for the keywords we wanted. It was just great. Then it slowly decreased and I didn't manage the crisis properly, for not working on new content and not trying to get new backlinks. After the top-up period, we were around the last query of the first page for every keyword we wanted to rank. While desperately looking for a solution, I found out that the domains that rank higher than me had very little SEO but their domains were significantly older than me. So I decided to invest a domain that matches our brand name, but better in every way. The name was very easy to recognize and was also representing the original company name. Plus, it was a 13 years old domain, which I though would be a plus. (That's where I made the terrible mistake I guess) After a painful but proper migration period, the new domain wasn't trying to get in the first three pages at all. All the r...

Similar Titles and SEO: Canonical or Noindex?

Hi everyone! Do you think that two pages with similar titles could negatively affect search rankings? In other words, could the second page somehow interfere with the main page’s ranking? Here’s a specific example: Homepage: "Roof Cleaning in Dallas". This page covers roof cleaning, but the company also offers additional services, each of which should have its own separate page. In the site menu, there will be a "Services" section containing a dropdown with all the services the company offers, including a page called "Roof Cleaning Service Dallas", which ranks for the same keyword as the homepage but goes into more detail about this service. The question is: In this case, would it be best to use a canonical tag? Or would it be better to set the second page to noindex? submitted by /u/Inner_Internal4244 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/vHmaxpA

'Mothballing' a site

I have a site in the beauty niche with about 30-40 pages and c.150 blog posts. For reasons I can't go into, I need to 'mothball' / close the site for some time (likely 6-12 months). How can I do this so as not to minimise SEO damage to my site that I have taken years to build up? Naturally, I'd rather not do this but it is unavoidable. What would be best practice please? submitted by /u/HeroRon [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/YNL0qrR

Competitors keywords are increasing.... Without additional content

According to Semrush, my competitor has increased their keywords from about 400 to 800 with no additional content (my tracking) posted or changed. How hard is it to do SEO for businesses today?

Hey folks, I stopped working as a Team Lead SEO in 2021 and changed my career to become a developer instead, as I got bored by all the politics coming with that position. However, I still check in here and there with the SEO world as I have some websites running, and they generate some side income with Ads, link insertions, guest posts, and affiliate programs. I feel like it becomes harder nowadays, especially for anyone who works for businesses (small niche projects seem to do well still), with Google seeming to worsen their SERPs with every algorithm and users increasingly answering their queries with ChatGPT and alike instead of using good old Google. Or do I feel like that because I left the SEO bubble? As long as I worked as an SEO there have always been people saying "SEO is dead" or "Google now f'd up truly". :D submitted by /u/bonfirepotato [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3MrxFWk

Blog Post Not showing up on Google & Pinterest

Hi, I have a question. I know there have been recent updates, but I had a blog post that was starting to move positively on Google (not on page one yet), and suddenly, it disappeared from search results (even the images). At the same time, the Pinterest pins linked to this post stopped receiving impressions (not sure if it's related). To try to fix the issue, I’ve updated the post, ensured proper heading structure, and ensured my images have the proper alt text, etc. Im not sure if it's related but I inspected the post, and I noticed some errors, including: "An attribution OS trigger registration was ignored because the request was ineligible." "Verify stylesheet URLs." I’m not sure if these errors are causing the issue. Have you experienced this before, or do you have any recommendations? Thanks all, submitted by /u/JoenidCorner [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/q6m02tZ

Seeking SEO Tips to Revive My Educational Website After a Traffic Drop

Hello, everyone! A few years ago, I built a website as a Software Development student with the help of a friend who handled the SEO. Fast forward five years, we both secured great jobs and essentially left the site to stagnate. At its peak, our site was getting 100k organic visitors, but now we’re down to just 15k. We have around 450 articles, but only 50 of them are still driving significant traffic (last updated in 2020). I’m looking for guidance on the best strategies to revive the site. What should be my top priorities for getting traffic back up? Our site hosts educational content, and we monetize through ads. Thanks for any advice or insights! submitted by /u/001000110000111 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/OVcqQ6k

Optimizing Title Tags, Meta Descriptions & Headers

Include the city and service in title tags (e.g., “Plumber in Miami | 24/7 Emergency Services”). Write clear meta descriptions (e.g., “Looking for a reliable plumber in Miami? Call us for fast, affordable service!”). Use H1, H2, and H3 tags to highlight location and keywords (e.g., “Best Roofing Services in Dallas”). Optimized tags improve local rankings. submitted by /u/firoz6033 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/k1eBbZJ

RIP SEO - Please take a moment of silence

Like many of you - you've seen the many red flags and warning signs that SEO is over - its been dying since twitter emerged in 2007.... Recently a number of old world marketers - mesmerized by LLMs, another technology they dont understand have declared SEO dead. Amazingly - they didnt go far enough to declare PPC dead - which would have wiped Google's shares out of existence - so luckily PPC exists. I have data from my own tiny SEO blog that I started investing time in about 2 years ago - 2 years after emerging from a decade of FTE. I know its silly to try to utilize data for such a visionary call - but it seems fitting. Obviously when faced with Emotional Data, actual data is often just fake news - supporting alternative and unimportant facts for people who just need SEO to die because - well - because they dont like it and its stupid and nobody clicks on Google results anyway. Well, I have the receipts. Again - I know - my domain is TINY. I have a DA < 25 - so I am mis...

Google vs. ChatGPT: Hidden Cost of AI on the Environment and Society

Today, I read the Economic Survey of 2025 (released on 31 JAN 2025), which raises serious concerns about global warming and environmental sustainability. With the rapid advancement of AI, businesses are increasing profits by reducing their dependence on human employees. However, this is not only a threat to community well-being but also poses grave risks to our climate. ChatGPT consumes 10 times more power than Google Search for processing a single query. There was a time when Google contributed more to a healthier environment, but with the integration of AI into its search engine, the power consumption has surged beyond that of ChatGPT. The primary energy source for these operations is, of course, electricity. Let’s understand the implications. AI-powered systems require immense computational power to process and deliver results. Google claims to be reducing its carbon footprint, but the reality is that AI-driven searches demand far more power than traditional ranking-based search ...
