Should I fire my agency? I am not satisfied with the deliverables but also don't know enough about SEO to know if I am in the right.

I am in a rough spot and could use some advice from folks who know a bit more about the SEO space. I am a marketing manager for a local company with 18 locations across two states. I am a solo marketer, though, and much of our advertising in house to save money since our budget is small. The only thing I outsourced to an agency was SEO and PPC management since they require time I don't particularly have. I have an agency background so I have a base understanding of SEO, but haven't really been able to keep up with the algorithm changes, what best practices are, etc. So I brought an agency on board at the beginning of the year. When we met, I was honest and told them we have a tight budget, so I was looking for a content focused strategy which I felt was the most logical approach for 18 locations; with a focus on blog updates, on page content for each of our location landing pages, etc. I also spoke to them about helping manage our listings, uploading and producing content for...

Add a shop to my affiliate blog ?

Hello, I run for 1 year a blog in a specific niche. I rank 1st on keywords like "best X" or "How to Y". I want to create a shop in my niche to sell some product Is that a good idea to add a "shop section" on my existing domain, or should I create a new website from scratch ? submitted by /u/TitanChad [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/Ihm1B8z

Generate KW Report for 4 KW's Per URL

Im looking to generate a KW report. I'll have a list of URLs, and want to get 4 KWs rank per each URL I wont have access to the websites to add pixels or anything so would be treated as 'competitor' reporting. I was going to signup to Ahrefs to do this but thought I'd ask here and see if people suggest other reporting platforms. submitted by /u/Gustomaximus [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/0KcwX1t

Ahrefs Data Analysis: Sites with more Organic traffic = More LLM/AI Mentions

Via u/Patrickstox : I don’t think this result will come as a surprise to anyone. Websites that get more traffic in traditional organic search also get mentioned more in AI Search. Popular sites are popular, even if the search system changes. I looked at the top 50 websites mentioned in Ahrefs Brand Radar for Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and Perplexity. This is across ~76.7M AI Overviews, 957k ChatGPT prompts, and 953.5k Perplexity prompts for the month of June 2025. I compared the website mentions to their worldwide organic search traffic in Ahrefs. submitted by /u/WebLinkr [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/Kprw5CL

Google deindexed my pages and slow to reindex

I run programmatic SEO in high finance topics and had 15K+ pages on Google that were all indexed. Before anyone jumps in - it's high quality content delivered via APIs (company valuation data). All pages are very different from each other. No AI involved. All linked together, all correct meta, sitemaps etc. There were all indexed before and picked up by Google and LLMs (even though my domain reputation is just around 5). I've made edits to those pages (technical stuff, adjusting formula calculations etc). After this, half of the pages got deindexed from Google. They sit at "Crawled - currently not indexed". Now I assume it's because of those changes? But it has been a month and nearly nothing came back. I try to "validate fix" in GSC but it gives absolutely nothing, and even fails, on pages that work and are all correct. Anyone has any idea? submitted by /u/olekskw [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News ht...

Google Vs AI - Assistance needed please

Thanks in advance for any help. I am hearing more and more people reference AI, and saying things like "according to AI" vs "I googled, whatever subject and ..." I'm a small / med size business in a VERY competitive field. How do we go about getting indexed into AI? Thank you!!!! ps I've been working with a great SEO guy for 20 years. Curious about long indexing delay - new website

I read so many horror stories here and have my own experiences, I wonder if my timeline here is now common compared to rare or one I should be concerned about. May 28 - launched a new 6 page website (domain registered about 1 month prior) for client. Site uses GTM for both GA4 and to link to Search Console June 4 - created and added account for Analytics and one for Search Console. (wanted to wait long enough for propagation, etc.) June 4 - submitted sitemap to GSC June 6 - observed root page was added, no other pages called out. June 19 - 3 new pages added to website. Checked GSC, still 1 page and still no notice on any other pages (e.g. no crawled but not indexed, etc.) Submitted sitemap again. (with new pages added, or course). June 25 - no change whatsoever in GSC presentation. Is 3 weeks and soon to be going on 1 month a normal delay even for a new site/domain? submitted by /u/Tech4EasyLife [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News ...

Building an AI content tool focused on SEO compliance - looking for insights

Hey everyone! I've been in tech for about 20 years and recently got into AI content generation. From my research into content marketing and SEO, it seems like there's a real gap between what most AI tools produce and what actually performs well in search. Most AI content tools either create obvious AI-generated fluff that Google's algorithms can spot, or they ignore fundamental SEO principles altogether. I've been working on something that's specifically designed to follow Google's helpful content guidelines and proper SEO practices from the ground up. The goal is content that reads naturally, follows E-E-A-T principles, and actually helps with rankings rather than hurting them. What's your experience with AI content and SEO? Are you seeing sites get penalized for obvious AI content? What SEO factors do you think are most important when using AI tools? And from an SEO perspective, what would make you trust an AI tool enough to use it for client work o...

What is going on? 415k keywords, 130k traffic overnight?

I stumbled across this site on semrush: k-brothers.com and this site looks like a totally normal website offering funeral service, however they are serving up thousands of pages through their wordpress site, seemingly in the past 24 hours, and are ranking these garbage pages for 415k keywords, including ranking number 11 for walmart near me, the bulk of these pages being psudo-ecommerce product pages with no buy button and tons of internal linking. How to Find or Hire Digital Marketing Experts in Controversial Niches

I'm curious if anyone has experience hiring digital marketing experts with a very narrow experience or skill set. Finding someone with "digital advertising" experience - no issues whatsoever. I've been using Guru or Upwork for years, and there are thousands of them on there. However, I'm looking for someone who is comfortable advertising "grey area" or controversial topics, like adult entertainment, cannabis, gambling, or helping people lie on their resume. "yuo can do it" -you

Search engines like Google, DuckDuckGo, Ecosia, Brave, etc. used to respect my quotes around phrases, and minuses to exclude terms. I think we’ve gone way too far over the edge of “artificial intelligence” trying to assume what I mean, rather than accepting that I know what I’m typing and I know what I want. There has been a video on YouTube for 15 to 20 years that I like to share, and it had the word “You” misspelled, so it was very easy to find with: +"yuo can do it" -you which would always pull it right up on YouTube. Now all I get is cRAP links! What is going on? Is there some new way to tell a search engine to stop trying to “be smart” by making bad assumptions of what I mean, and just accept that I say what I mean and mean what I say? submitted by /u/captain42d [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/1ozNPAm

Content strategy for new site

Hello everyone, i just launched a new site and was curious if my thought process was sound. After publishing and being indexed by Google, i have been keeping an eye on queries in Google Search Console that i have been showing up for. There have been a few that are relevant to my business that have gotten more impressions than others but I don't have any content built for those topics. Would this be a good way to decide on what content to create? For example if I see that I am already showing up for a phrase, should i double down and build more webpages and blogs with the queries incorporated into titles? Or is this backwards thinking, should I look at phrases and queries I'm not showing up for very well and build content with them in mind and not worry about what I am showing up for since I'm already showing up for those searches? I know thats a mouthful so hoping I described that right and it makes sense. Thanks for any and all advice and feedback I have plans to bui...

Messed up domain migration, how to recover?

I recently onboarded a client who went through a domain migration. However, the agency they had previously employed to handle the migration made their new website live without setting up a "move to" address in GSC. The client found out about this and completed the migration 2 months after the redirects were set up. As a result, their website doesn't even show up in the top 50 results for the brand name, and their traffic has tanked, too. I have handled a few domain migrations until now, and they have all been successful, but I've never faced a similar situation. What would be the best way to go about it? Ps: I'm working with them for the complete SEO + copywriting shenanigans & i only found out about this after they shared their GSC access. submitted by /u/Lucifer_x7 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/dcJ81Vi

Best way to rebrand my photography business

I operate a photography business that has risen to #2 in organic serp in my local niche (headshot photography) despite weak branding. My brand has nothing to do with photography and I was just using it until I could rebrand. I have bought detroitphotography dot com and want to rebrand as "Detroit Photography." Even as I use this prestigious domain for my general branding, I want to keep my primary target keyword as "Detroit headshots photography." I have also purchased detroitheadshotphotography dot com and am currently planning to 301 it to detroitphotography.com. 90% of my business comes from google ads for ads related to headshot photography. I think the primary benefit of the rebrand will be to make the ads seem more authoritative to prospective clients by coming from a more prestigious domain. My long-term plan is to transition my business from being reliant on ads to organic referrals, and to constantly move those referrals up-market to high-end branding an...

Need help with Travel SEO

I have a travel blog based in India, but its not a normal blog, here I post travel guides for each destination. So like it's supposed to be a concise guide for each destination like -5 Stays,5 Eats and 5 spots for each place. And no more than 1 post for each destination. I am new to SEO, but also struggling with it badly. The blog is 2 years old now, but the traffic is 1k users monthly, mostly coming from reddit. From google organic search, I only get 3-4 clicks per month, which is too bad. I have checked the search results for my kind of keywords, and I really feel my content deserves better rankings. I have few backlinks, don't really how to build them, why would someone list my website on theirs? does an updated "lastmod" in the sitemap without actual change in content hurts indexing?

I run amusic directory website with artists, their discography listed as well as links to their social media platforms and streaming services as a passion project. since the last couple of months I've lost over 30k indexed urls, the current indexed urls count is at 5k in Google search console. The deindexed urls are now either in "Crawled - currently not indexed" or "Discovered – currently not indexed" section, something that I don't really understand the root cause. so I was wondering if updating the lastmod to a newer date is causing this, basically I update each of these pages ever 1-2 days, to make sure the discography and information are up to date, but obviously not much content is changed. submitted by /u/digitalmahdi [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/BL0wh9R

Here's how ChatGPT Search Works in Background

We all know ChatGPT has been fetching data from Bing to answer queries. But I recently came across something interesting. When it's searching the web, it breaks down your search query into subqueries ( something like the fanout method that was discussed at Google IO). Interestingly enough, you can see these exact queries under the network tab when you use the Chrome Dev Tools. For example, when you search "hotels in Los Angeles for July" on ChatGPT, I could see it searching these two queries on Bing Los Angeles hotels July Availability rates Hotels in Los Angeles July 2025 best So, essentially, as a brand, if you want to increase your chances of showing up on ChatGPT answers, these insights could be really helpful because if you manage to improve your rankings for the subqueries that ChatGPT is searching on Bing, your chances of showing up in ChatGPT answers improve significantly. Also helps to understand the format and variations of queries GPT creates for differ...

SEO crash after tightening Cerber/Wordfence. Crawl dropped, indexing broken, traffic down

Hi, I really need help because my developer doesn't seem to understand the issue. I’m managing my WordPress site solo and SEO is crucial for me it's how I grow. Around June 5,6, after tightening my Wordfence because of brute force attacks my organic traffic collapsed. At first, I saw tons of 404 and 503 responses to malicious bots trying to scan for vulnerabilities. But days later, I realized I’d also blocked legitimate visitors unintentionally. Google’s crawl requests dropped from 467/day (May 24) to approximately 160/day now, even though I’m publishing everyday. I now have 84 pages in 404 in GSC. New articles won’t index even with manual submission. Message : Error 404. LinkedIn previews don’t load. I've been using WordPress since one year and a half. Never had this problem before. I removed Wordfence and my developer downloaded Cerber because he knows it better. According to him, Cerber isn’t blocking anything but I suspect it’s silently filtering good bots like ...

Should I ditch CPTs and use a flat URL structure for better local SEO?

I originally built my location and service pages using custom post types (CPTs) with ACF. The idea was to create a scalable setup with reusable fields, and it made sense at the time. The downside is it forced my URLs to be things like /location/city-name and /service/service-name . I tried removing the CPT base using a plugin, but it caused a mess. Pages ended up with broken or weird redirect paths, and internal links started pointing to versions of the URL that looked completely wrong. I’ve rolled that back, so now the structure is clean again with /location/city and /service/type . But all my competitors just use flat pages like /city-name or /service-in-city , no CPTs at all. I'm now thinking of rebuilding these as regular pages. I could still use ACF to keep it flexible, just not CPTs. Do you think switching to a flat structure makes a difference for a small or low-authority site? Impressions have improved a bit, but rankings are still all over the place. I'm wonder...

Struggling to Get My New Shopify Store Indexed by Google

I recently launched a Shopify store and I'm trying to get it indexed by Google. Before setting up Shopify, my custom domain was pointed to my Etsy store. After switching to Shopify, I submitted my sitemap.xml to Google Search Console to kick off indexing. A few days later, I checked back and saw an error saying the sitemap couldn’t be indexed because of a redirect. I assumed that was because the domain had previously redirected to Etsy. So I waited a few more days, re-submitted the sitemap, and checked again—same issue. The status said validation started on June 8, and the last update was June 9, but there’s been no progress since. To troubleshoot, I opened my sitemap.xml and added the individual collection pages from it directly into Google Search Console (rather than relying solely on the main sitemap). After doing this, Google showed that it found multiple pages in those collections. I thought that meant it was finally working. But even now, none of my pages are showing as i...

Is SEO dead in 2025? My Thoughts...

Not a fan of dramatic headlines like “SEO is dead,” but I get why people say it — especially in 2025. With AI bots giving direct answers, Google's SERPs flooded with AI summaries, and platforms like TikTok eating into search behavior, it feels like SEO is on life support. But here’s what I’ve actually seen on the ground running an agency — not theory, real-world: 1. SEO isn't dead — lazy SEO is. You can’t throw up a 500-word article stuffed with keywords anymore and expect traffic. Thin content is done. Even programmatic content is getting flagged if it’s not thoughtful. But sites that focus on topical depth, EEAT signals, and human-first content ? Still ranking. Still converting. Still alive. 2. Search is evolving, not dying. Yes, people ask ChatGPT and Gemini for quick answers. But guess what? Most of those AI answers still cite websites . And if your site isn’t in that mix, you’re not just missing out on traffic — you're missing mindshare. We’ve started experime...

Warning: the Seraphinite Accelerator WordPress plugin will trash your rankings

After removing it from one of our sites, our rankings rebounded straight to the top of Google. Some of you may remember my post from a couple of months ago, where I shared a near-perfect 98 Lighthouse performance score. It was incredible. Greatest day ever. Or was it? The consultant I hired achieved this with the Seraphinite Accelerator WordPress plugin. It was great to get these scores, but honestly, our rankings seemed to get worse. I know that site speed isn't going to be any kind of ranking booster, but things started heading in the wrong direction after doing this speed optimization. And there were other signs that something was wrong. Using the SEO Pro extension, we could see pages flip from a 503 status to 200 shortly after page load. It looked like the server was initially returning a 503, and then it would load the page and return a 200. Weird. On a hunch, we removed the plugin on June 2nd and BOOM, rankings took off the next day. So yeah, don't use that plugin....

I'm being paid $150 per GMB listing for full SEO work – should I walk away?

I’m in a bit of a dilemma and could really use your advice. I’m currently managing a few Google My Business (GMB) listings for a client (a small local biz group), and I’m being paid $150 per client. The job involves full GMB optimization – adding service areas, writing SEO-friendly descriptions, uploading images, keyword tagging, post scheduling, competitor research, citation corrections, and the whole shebang. It’s been about 3 weeks of pretty hands-on work across multiple listings. I’ve done everything by the book: optimized for local keywords, followed proximity-relevance-prominence principles, and submitted everything for indexing. But GMB SEO obviously takes time to show traction – especially in competitive niches. Now they’re asking me to justify whether SEO is even worth it, and if I can’t "prove" the value, ot they’ll cancel the SEO department. My questions are: Is this even a sustainable arrangement for me? What’s the best way to respond when a client want...

Backlinks are about more than just ranking

I see lots of people trying to figure out why large parts of their site have become "crawled - not indexed" that were previously indexed. I also see lots of posts about how come rankings are dropping after an update? I also see lots of posts about Google not indexing new content. This is all probably because of your backlinks. It should be clear that backlinks = authority in Google. It's been that way since Google was Backrub. Sure the relative importance of links has changed over that time, but links are still foundational to Google rankings. Authority is tied to indexing/re-indexing/maintaining indexed pages. Not just rankings. Just have to read through Google's PageRank patents to figure this out. You need backlinks to ensure the authority of those pages is high enough to be considered for indexing in the first place. Those pages inherit their authority via links pointing to them both within your site and without (external links). Internal pages provide some ...

Looking for feedback on SEO resume - Senior SEO Career Level - Enterprise

I was hoping to connect with someone to get some feedback on my resume from other professional SEOs, hopefully someone who hires other SEOs in an in-house enterprise setting. I've been doing SEO for 15 years, currently employed, but am looking to brush up my resume. I've already had connected with my alma mater's career center and they gave some feedback, but now I'd like to get someone who's experienced in SEO to look at it as well. If anyone has that background and would be willing to take a look, I'd appreciate it. submitted by /u/ryan112ryan [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/B5EltrH

Website Migration and Split Traffic Questions

I have a website that’s currently splitting traffic —75% of traffic is seeing the old website whereas 25% of the traffic is seeing the new website. When should the 301 or 302 redirects be implemented? Should the bots only crawl the new website at 100% traffic? Any resources in this type of web migration would be great. Thank you in advance. submitted by /u/saucyangell [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/Aazx8Cy

Trying to make an SEO content studio + overall content support + (e)book layout and formatting startup in the midst of AI rising... I'm trying to make it worth it, but what do you think?

As a content writer of 5 years—and someone who’s loved writing way before AI became prominent—I just started planning my long-term dream: building a small, human-first content startup. The idea is to offer steady, reliable blog content, content support, and even ebook formatting for businesses and agencies that need consistency and real strategy behind their words. Not just fluff or filler—but valuable content written with intent, nuance, and structure. I know we’re in the middle of an AI boom. But honestly? That’s why I think now is the time to build something like this. There's so much noise out there—so many low-effort, AI-generated blogs with no real flow, no context, and no understanding of tone or brand voice. My argument is: human intervention matters more than ever. Clients don’t just want content—they want trust, personality, direction, and the ability to connect. And while I use AI as a tool, I believe it’s not always the easy way out. For many, it’s the fast road t...

ChatGPT Couldn't Satisfy Me, Could You?

Bru, I made a educational personal blogish type website. where i post, the intresting things which won't be found on the other websites, it was my thoughts into articles, I got fully benifited from the social media in terms of traffic and engagement. I have made 300 friends, who regularly visit my website atleast once a month, and they really like the content. Before few years when this AI was not a thing like as its today, I used to get ₹102 (approx. 1USD cpc)... I was earning small but it was good to see the progress.... but since few months, the cpc is ₹10 (0.1USD). I am thinking to target some high cpc content, as a side posting strategy... I have been a regular writer since 5 years now, framing my ideas into the words are very easy for me now (as I see English only in Books, Internet, and Keyboards). Ok, now the question. I focus on science or STEM feilds, and I will be a regular writer for that, now the main thing is that, can you help me to answer that question which I am g...

japanese keyword - low CPC and competition

hey folks totally new to SEO, so apologies in advance if this is a dumb question so i've stumbled upon some japanese keywords - more than 50k search volume with commercial intent the CPC is $0.9 and the competitive density is 0.05 -- does this mean, it would be easy to run conversion ads that perform well? is this too good to be true or is this something common you encounter these days? submitted by /u/420juk [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/yxTgjSN

How to Get Sitelinks in SEO Results?

I'm working on an SEO project where we're looking to get sitelinks to show up in search results for the main domain that ranks #1. Is there a trick to this or anything to look into on the back end to make it more likely for these to show up in search results? submitted by /u/josephwesley [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/64R0xOv

Question about Bing.Please help me!

Please help me! My website has more than 4,000 pages indexed by Google, but Bing refuses to index it. Indexnow shows that Cloudflare has submitted 1.7m URLs, but I can't find any information about my website on Bing.com. What's the problem? submitted by /u/No_Assumption_5382 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/dqveFu3

Reminder: Google has been removing indexed pages. Check and resubmit.

After inspecting a dozen different sites the past few weeks, it seems that many pages have been removed from the Google index for each website I checked. This is unusual, as we could not recall any pages being removed for the entirety of last year. No pattern is clear, as some are top-level service pages, and others are deeply-nested blog articles. If your site has seen a decline in traffic, it could be worth inspecting: Google Search Console: Pages > Crawled - currently not indexed. submitted by /u/DasCapitolin [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/UGV7W84

I am getting clicks on my Amazon affiliate account but no sale

I have been working on this new blog which is performing great. Have kind of 8-9 posts and in last 30 days I got 70 visitors on my blog and getting almost 5-10 clicks daily in my Amazon affiliate dashboard. What might be the reason for no sales. I recently started using aawp plugin too. I know I need more traffic and published more content. But I am getting more than 100 clicks in last 30 days and still no sale. What could be the possible reasons or what you would do for conversation. I mostly target washing machines. submitted by /u/YashX100 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/VvJD4jH

Purchasing Existing Domains

A client recently purchased a domain that's in their niche. They want to build a new site and use the existing link profile to get out of the sandbox and rank as soon as possible. If they want to use a different domain for the business, will simply redirecting the purchased domain have any effect? From what I've heard, this doesn't work anymore. submitted by /u/here4thenews [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/IqRcTe7

Ranking 40-50 on google for niche service. Why?

Hello, I've posted here before...my on-page SEO is on point with long tail and short keywords, "Stained Glass Portland" "custom stained glass windows portland" , etc etc. I have several blog posts, a FAQ page (based on google alternative searches), meta descriptions, alt text on all images, page speed 2.2 seconds (good for an image-heavy page), properly tagged H1-6. I used SEO frog and fixed all issues and opportunities. I'm listed in all local guides, BBB, etc and my NAP are consistent. I'm number 2-3 for GMB in my area, but I'm ranking 40-50 for the search term, "Stained Glass Portland" or "Portland Stained Glass"....and because I believe these are the most important search terms I'm fixated on improving it. Can people please look at my site and tell me if they see anything wrong? submitted by /u/slowercases [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/a2BwM60

Google My Business tree service, Using service area vs address

For a Google My Business profile as a tree service business operating in a service area, would it be better to display my headquarters address or just show my service area to increase traffic from other parts of my service area? There are three big cities, and my business headquarters has an address in the smallest one. Most of my business is from the bigger cities, so would it be better to just have my service area posted as opposed to my HQ Address + Service Area? I don't want my profile to have the city where my HQ is as the priority for traffic. submitted by /u/newagedetective [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/s0vPiND

Bing Webmaster Scan Failed: "Bing bot IP is blocked" – Solved with ChatGPT + Wordfence Whitelist

Hey everyone, I recently added my site [baratpay.com]( https://www.baratpay.com ) to Bing Webmaster Tools, and ran a full site scan. To my surprise, I received this error: **"Bing bot IP is blocked"** — even though my `robots.txt` allows Bingbot: User-agent: bingbot Allow: / I turned to ChatGPT and got helpful guidance: the issue was likely due to firewall-level restrictions, not `robots.txt`. Turns out, my WordPress security plugin (Wordfence) was blocking Bingbot IPs. Based on the advice, I added these IP ranges to the whitelist: 13.66.139.0/24 13.66.140.0/24 40.77.167.0/24 40.77.169.0/24 40.77.188.0/24 207.46.13.0/24 207.46.199.0/24 157.55.39.0/24 After this, I’ll re-run the scan and update this post with the result. Just wanted to share this in case others run into the same issue — and would love to hear if I missed anything. I'm now re-running the scan in Bing Webmaster Tools to confirm if this resolves the issue. I’ll update here with the result on...
