Considering buying old blog. Anything I should be aware of?

I’m looking at possibly buying a small informational blog from 2005 and basically just using the domain to make my own similar website. I’ve never bought a previously owned domain before. Is there anything I need to know about how it might affect seo in future? submitted by /u/Embarrassed_Bit3799 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3EvhXyb

Facing Problem after Updating Content

Hi guys, so recently I updated one of my content, with minor changes in content, images, and some proper formatting of Headings. changed the meta title and URL slug according to the updated topic, but didn't change anything in the meta description. After it got indexed by Google when I search for the post on my designated keyword, I keep seeing my old post with old meta title, old slug, old description, and when I click on it then I get to see the updated content. My question is - will it take time to update the content in SERP? or I'm doing something wrong over here, because I have updated content before but I have never faced anything like this. submitted by /u/Training_Bullfrog_89 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3bvV694

Buying an expired domain that was momentarily ruined by pharma content?

There's a domain we've wanted for ages and just became available again as an expired domain (we tried to buy it once before but someone else did). Unfortunately, it looks like it was briefly used for pharma crap but now it's available again. Is that domain's value recoverable if we buy it? Or a complete waste of time? submitted by /u/ozzemg [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/31llXmz

The rankings of our many keywords drastically fell from Friday in the U.S. What could be the reason?

Our primary keywords were ranking on top position in the U.S. (Ahrefs) but half of them took a wild plunge in ranking. Many of them don't even rank in 100 now. Now, the number of visitors has declined sharply too. However, there are other keywords that are still in top position. What could be the possible reasons? I checked Google Search Console, and there were no errors in the security and manual actions pages. I have no idea why this happened. Is Google penalizing us? Although our content is similar on most pages - because we are writing for the keywords of same niche - they are in no way duplicated. We also have not used Black Hat SEO. Bounce rate spiked while users, traffic, time on page, etc plummeted. What gives?

Hi, I wanted to check in with you guys before I involve my client (because it's Halloween now). Checked Ahrefs, SEMrush, and console. Everything seems fine. SEO beginner question - does it matter (help or hinder) which site builder I use?

Hiya, I'm about to launch my Christmas store for the year and I'm stuck choosing between Shopify, Click Funnels and Drop Funnels. It's my understanding DF sites rank better with Google due to being Wordpress based (which they supposedly like), and CF has issues with some payment providers so that's a downside for them... then there's Shopify who are well established for stores selling physical products (which I am) so maybe they'd rank higher because of that? Does anyone have any advice on which site builder I should use just taking the SEO / search rankings into account? Does it even matter (as in should I ignore this reason and choose based on other factors)? Thanks :) submitted by /u/lymytlys [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3jOPI5F

Does domain extension affect rankings?

I have my portfolio website domain in .sk but all of the content is in English. I am a freelancer in one very specific niche and I'd like to start creating content for SEO. Moving from Pages 3 & 4 to 1st Page

I own a professional services firm and would like to increase the organic traffic on our website. Currently most of the kw's we rank for are on pages 3 and 4, some on page 2 and not much on page 1. Our site currently has about 30 pages and all of them are indexed. They are a mix of blog posts and main product pages. Most are setup in a in a "Specific Service, Main City, State" format. I also have a few that target other secondary cities as well as more general topics. The domain is about 5 years old, and the site is currently built on WordPress. We did a redesign a little over a year ago updating to a newer premium theme. According to Moz we have a Domain Authority of 15 and the main page has a Page Authority of 25, while some of the main product pages range from 13 to 16 Page Authority. Ahrefs gives us a 2.4 Domain Authority with 143 backlinks from 76 referring domains. Quite a few of those are blogspot links that are linking to one of the images on my site, that I did...

Add a new, tangentially-related category to my existing site, or buy a new domain?

Search Wizards, I've got a question that Google and Quora aren't answering sufficiently, so I figured I'd do a quick poll here. I have a website that is doing okay (young but promising and growing rapidly each month), and a decent amount of expertise in a semi-related niche. They're not directly and intimately related, but they're not unrelated either. For example, let's say "Movies" is the niche I have a website for, and "TV/home theater" is the other, sort-of-related niche. Obviously, "TV/home theater" could stand on its own as a website, but if I've got momentum on my "Movies" site, would I be better off just creating a new, dedicated wing of the existing site? The two choices don't seem that different, so: if you were in my shoes, what would you do? How to increase time on page and decrease bounce rate?

I have a small (non-english) blog. It has currently ~2k visitors a month. It's not much, but it's something. I have ~30 posts, which I consider being of good quality. I went through my matomo repots and notices that >80% of my visitors bounce. That alone wouldn't be a bad sign if they found what they searched for. But then I found that for most users the time on my page is 10 seconds or less. Therefore, I guess, they simply bounce. As you might have guessed I'm fairly new to optimization. Here are my questions: Do you have any tips on how to increase the time on page? (because I feel, bounce rate isn't as important) How can I decrase the bounce rate in a second step? PPC Myths You Should Let Go of During 2021

Would you be convinced and suddenly convert from a, "Come have your Mom live with us..." ad? Instead of recognizing that their strategy was off, they blamed PPC. Deciding on a care home for a parent is a long process fraught with emotion. You won't make that decision based on an ad, no matter how nicely it is constructed. Is it even possible to rank top 5 for an already competitive keyword for a new site?

Maybe I should ask this question in another way. How can a site rank top 5 slip down on that keyword? Shouldn't it be more and more authoritative when somebody clicks it through an organic search? Shouldn't search results just stay on old answers for old hot topics. Thank you so much, guys. I've been thinking about it for a long time and have no clue. Blogspot image backlinking method. Help!!!!

I came across this website while doing some random search on Google. I got obsessed by the website because of how poor the website quality was and how high it was ranking on the Google serp. I did a reverse seo study on its article nieche, the interlinking of the website and backlink building. I saw a strange link building method where the website is building daily upto 12 to 18 backlins from blogspot website. Linking the jpg image link of their website on the image on blogspot website. I have searched everywhere of this link building method but no one knows it, From google results, Facebook groups, forums and telegram groups no one knows it. There is only one forum(blackhatworld) on Google opened on Aug but no one has the answer. I have found that some big brands are using this method too. At this point I think this method is only known to big seo agencies. What do you think guys is anyone familiar of this method. submitted by /u/naniseo [link] [comments] from Search ...

Best pricing structures when doing SEO services in order to ensure long-lasting mutually beneficial relationships?

Best pricing structures when doing SEO services in order to ensure long-lasting mutually beneficial relationships? At the moment I follow hourly based pricing. When the time comes to send a proposal, I put together a 6-month long campaign (which usually guarantees no. 1 position with the target keyword) and list hours needed to execute the campaign. Monthly payment is calculated following formula - Hours Needed * Our Hourly Rate and divided with 6, because the campaign will be 6 month long. Although, after initial 6 months there are still keywords to conquer, as you all know after fixing the main issues of the website (done in the initial campaign) we are left with off-page SEO, which does not require that many hours. The problem I face with this pricing model is simple - when the “best time of the year” comes in our SEO lifecycle, when we start conquering one keyword after another, and client finally sees the power of SEO! I have to settle for 1/3 of what I was getting during init...

Exactly how do you get started on link-buiding?

Hello SEO experts, Professionally I am not an SEO person and not looking to get started on that either. However, I am an experienced writer who wants to understand how SEO works. I have read various blogs, watched tutorials and free courses on SEO over the years out of curiosity. This helped me learn how to align my content, seamlessly merge keywords, write effective headlines, research keywords, content length and even how to market the content so SEO flourishes further. However, every single time my progress is hindered by link-building. I am aware that you can look for dead links, guest posts, send emails to contact people, create a GMB. But the question still remains is: How exactly do you go about when it comes to link building? Are there some go-to websites? Routines, techniques? Every guide I stumble upon is somewhat incomplete when it comes to link building. It says look for dead links, but when you find them, there is often no way to contact that website. I am not finding keywords in source of similar industries!

I am trying to get my business up-to-date with SEO. It's a small in the making record label. I've tried going to large competitors and realize they have no meta keywords and barely a description, I assume cause they are so large they end up at the top for people naturally looking for them. So I went to look at smaller labels and even publications with news on them and I realize they don't even have meta keywords! The Value Of Low Volume Keywords

So I've recently been working with a client in the CBD industry and one of the number one things they stressed to me was that they wanted to increase the amount of traffic to their website every month. Now I gave a confident response as I'm confident in my SEO abilities; however, CBD tends to be outside of my normal industries I work with as these individuals normally are your typical businesses such as plumbers, roofers, and any other service business you can think of and even more so those of you who are familiar with CBD know it's an up and coming industry with tons of national competition. After researching tons of keywords and comparing to other national level CBD sites I thought it might be best to target lower search volume keywords. That may sound crazy especially after my client told me the main thing would be driving traffic but my mindset behind it was that by targeting these lower level keywords the competition wouldn't nearly be as fierce and you would id...

Two Weird Questions about Massive Real Estate Site (100,000+ Pages)

Hi All, I'm working on a website with about 750,000 pages, most of which are unnecessary. But there are about 100,000+ listing pages for homes. Currently, the website uses a few Yoast Generated sitemaps which cover about 15,000 of those pages and the rest are either discovered or not indexed. Should I continue to use the Yoast sitemap? Or should I use screaming frog and update the sitemap once a month? Yoast doesn't seem to be getting all the listings. Many of the pages are not being indexed at all because (I think) they have thin or duplicate content. Listings are either the same kinda info on other internal pages or even other websites, and the content is thin at best. How do I get them indexed? Using Iframes to display main content

Hi, I've created a website for people studying french language. My SEO is very bad at that point, and I'm looking at different directions to make it better. But I was wondering about that impact of Iframes on my (bad) SEO : I'm using Iframes to display my main content, which are lessons about grammar etc. I'm using Genial.ly Iframes, which are interactive and dynamic sliders, allowing me to get past those boring written rules. But actually, how does that impact my SEO ? My pages are composed of Prerequisite links (internal links), the lessons (Iframe from Genial.ly ), a button to download the grammar rule as PDF, Exercises (created with H5P) and a final link to a test page (internal). So basically, I'm afraid that if my Iframe's content is not taken into account, my page would be considered extremely empty. Am I rightly afraid ? Do you have any advice for me ? I'm diving into it, so my SEO knowledges are very basic (although I'm actively working on...

Question About Submitting Website to Google

Hi everyone, I have a hobby Instagram account that has done well with growth and income and five months I decided to create a website and add a blog. I've got about 10 articles up and add one new blog a week. I am trying to add my website to Google to be indexed and I'm stuck on literally step on. I logged into Google Search Console and I see two options: "To start, select property type" and then options to select Domain or URL Prefix. I clicked on Domain and it wants me to log into my website server and verify my domain ownership via DNS record. I use GoDaddy for my domain name and when I logged in it said it had no DNS information because it didn't manage my site. I use Siteground for hosting and cannot find any information about DNS. Where should I look? Is this how I actually get my site indexed? The SEO terminology is really dense to me and I've been Googling for answers but wind up confused. H1s are now mandatory

I've had an LP that was ranking well in a local searches (between 3 and 7 positions) for years… Then, a few months back, it stopped ranking at all. I had it on a back burner, since this particular KW is not very important for the project, but yesterday I've got around to it. The page had no H1 tag, only meta title and description. It just didn't make any sense to have a title on this particular LP… but last night I've made an H1 matching meta title, just to see what will happen. …This morning I woke up with this page ranking №1. From nowhere to first position literally overnight! Guess it's time to get serious about H1s, despite all the rewriting shenanigans. PS: Never had a problem ranking content without H1s before. submitted by /u/schmuber [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3vVnRFD

Is there any way to see an impact on your brand keywords performance because of mobile apps? Do SEOs measure it? If yes, how do they measure it? Share your thoughts.

SEO Question: Who search your website with your brand name? I believe that they will be your loyal customers or regular visitors. What if you motivate them to move to mobile app by offering them some additional benefits, they are most likely to switch to mobile apps. In this case, the probability of them searching you with your brand name in Google will go down and it will further affect clicks and impression data on your brand keywords. I am in process of domain change and want to change address in google search console from domain1.com to domain2.com in the search console -> settings -> change of address I go and its grayed out unlike other domains I have in search console. When I attempt to change address the validation runs and just spins without any error response or anything. Anyone ever run into this? First time for myself. Is there some place where I can find some actual good and currently used SEO methods?

For example the fact that people are using People Also Ask a lot right now and dozens of websites are getting millions of views within months using it (not only blackhat). The specific method I'm talking about is scraping all the related PAA and making a single page that answers all of them using FAQ schena. Another one is the "rumor" that big G is glorifying sites that are using unique images. submitted by /u/Bokkuren [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3bn40Wg

Do you still need to work on SEO while paying for google ads?

The whole point is to rank on the first page, right? I'm from a small town with many photographers; most of the local togs don't have their own website, they use fb page instead. Multi-Prong Business SEO

Hey guys, I run a small business and do website design/hosting, video production & live streaming, and aerial photo/video. Are FAQ pages relevant anymore?

I'm of the belief that FAQ pages are generally outdated. They're usually a crutch used to cover up poor IA and content strategy. This is the approach taken by many major governments around the world. If your visitors actually have FAQs, it indicates a failing on your part to properly integrate the answer where they need it, not an opportunity for a new FAQ entry. By improving customer journies and experiences, there shouldn't be a need for the vast majority of FAQs in the first place. That said, I constantly hear how important an FAQ page is for SEO, and how many users visit FAQ pages after home pages, etc. But is this really because an FAQ page itself performs or ranks better, or merely because the rest of the site was lacking? I'd love to discuss further and try to understand if I'm missing a key aspect. submitted by /u/Davor_Penguin [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3CoAQC3

Lighthouse Performance: 21 How much of a negative impact is this?

Hi all, I recommended a theme change for a client's website because Lighthouse was showing a performance score of 6/100. After switching to a lighter-weight theme, we've seen most keywords move up several spaces in the SERPs, but performance is still only 21/100. Unfortunately, our developer is basically saying there isn't much we can do. Has anyone else run into this issue? Were you able to improve performance/site speed, and did it make a significant impact on organic search? Having trouble figuring it out.

I am a small business owner, trying to figure out SEO for myself. I have multiple social media pages, all with links leading back to my website. I post on them roughly once a week. I'm obviously a beginner at this and wanted to know if I should be doing anything else submitted by /u/aMooseOfHabit [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3bnNchT

Help needed! Forum links go crazy...

Yesterday I placed a link to my page in a forum discussion. Today I was looking at my Link profile on Semrush and I discovered that I received 300 links from the same website placed in differents forum post, all linking to the same page. All the links are do-follow type, and I can't find them on the pages when I try to inspect them. My website is quite new and has a very low link profile. Website migration - htaccess

Hi guys I am migrating an old site domain to a new domain. Just wondering with htaccess; does it only redirect if the URLs are the same after migration? E.g. If my old domain is ____.com/contactus and I change it to a new domain ____.com/contactus htaccess works. BUT if the old domain's URL is ____.com/contactus and I change it to the new domain (which now has a different URL) like ____.com/contact-us or something like that - does that still work? submitted by /u/martinz69 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3jG9kZo

Ahrefs | Clicks vs. Traffic

Hi Guys, Does anyone know what does traffic and Clicks are for in ahrefs? I googled it but couldn't find why are these numbers different. I am assuming that traffic is visits to that website from many sources, and clicks are visits only from the SERPS. Google Web Stories question?

I am having some crazy success with Google Web Stories lately - bringing over 1k website visits in a single day from a couple of posts! The reach is relatively short-lived, but if you feed the beast in the same way you would handle Pinterest, it seems to have legs. The only thing I'm a little confused about is the indexation of the stories themselves. They seem to be far more sporadic than regular blog posts (for my main site at least). For example, I have 2 stories that have yet to be indexed for nearly a week! The longest it takes any of my regular blog posts is a couple of days, max. Does anyone have any experience/insight into this? submitted by /u/chrispanteli87 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3EhseOi
