SEO approach for writing about software/apps (personal blog)

Hello everyone! On my personal (wordpress) blog with a domain, I usually write about freeware and use the Yoast plugin to help, but wanted to see if my approach was correct. I usually write about a useful website or app and the keyword is something like "software X review" and try to do my SEO that way. I've tried looking at keyword alternatives, but just not sure how I should be going at this. Would it be better to aim for keywords about the function of the app/software? e.g. "time zone converter", "X is a free word processor"? Any help would be greatly appreciated, just want to bring more traffic to my hobby blog, thank you. submitted by /u/fountainofdreams [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/2RLQXVo

Blog vs landing page

Hello, Sorry for the likely ridiculous question. I'm just beginning to learn about SEO. I'm putting a website together for a business-owner friend for free. Question about h1 and UX

Hi! I’m working with a clients SEO for their product pages. Right now they are using H1 with copy written to increase conversions. Sadly, that copy is not good for SEO. It mostly consists of “emotional messages”. I want to enhance the SEO by changing the H1 and add better keywords. But, well, we have some arguments. We have been discussing a mixed path where we style the h1 to be small, and the “conversion headings” to be big. Would this work or is it a no no for google? Example;
SEO heading

Branding / call to action heading

Page content
Thanks in advance /vexxan submitted by /u/fredricthorn [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/38WaSa1

New to SEO. Have a client who owns a bar/restaurant. What should I charge based on the following services.

As the title says. I designed a website for a client and I will host it soon. They are asking for help marketing. The SEO is for a bar/restaurant in a certain part of the neighborhood that has plenty of competition. They receive decent foot traffic because of location but want to bring in more people. From my understanding, SEO can be a process and take anywhere from 3 to 12 months to see results. I would rather have it sooner than later. I want to bill them monthly and give them a couple options. Here are the options I was thinking of. Option 1 Complete a full SEO audit *Google My Business Optimization, Google says this is the #1 thing to do to increase their rank. *Directory Listings, having more sites link to them. *Facebook page, update all keywords cross-linking to GMB *Google Search Console *Google Analytics *-Add reviews to their profiles such as Google, Facebook, Yelp, etc. *-Have more content on the web including pictures. Option 2(includes everything in option 1) Th...

Does page size matter if page speed is quick?

Hi, I'm on creating a new website and toying with the idea of using video BG's for some elements. I've done tests through Pingdom and received the following results: With video: Load time: 1.58s Page size: 4.4mb Without video: Load time: 1.32s Page size: 1.3mb So the load time doesn't increase too much, but the page size rockets. Is page size a technical issue or is ranking based purely on load time? How to Compress Image Files to Speed up Site?

When a tool like GT Metrix or Web page test tells me to compress images, do they mean to make a picture go from 800 pixels to 700 to make it a bit smaller, or is there something else I should be doing? Local SEO for restaurant that has seemingly used all outlets.

Hi all, I’ve been trying to help a friend out with his restaurant in a fairly competitive market/location. In particular the map pack. We have a well optimized and claimed GMB listing which we’ve been updating with new social posts, events, etc. A website that is optimized for some keywords. We rank on the first page for several keywords we are targeting. “Location + Bar” “Location + Restaurants” and a few others. Domain is about a 1.5 years old. The downside is he changes his menu daily so we load images for his menus. Yoast for on-page recommendations. We have some strong back links from the Food Network/ Major Local Papers and good publications. DA is still low though. We probably have about 2/3’s the backlinks of our main competitor. Very active social with a good following. A good amount of reviews. 180(ish) compared to our main competitor with about 230. Most are in this range of reviews. We are actively responding to reviews. Good score btw, 4.8. NAP/Citations are good to...

Blog Topics for Overall SEO Performance

So I have a bicycle tour company in a popular tourist town. I rank pretty well organically for a nuber of important KW's but always looking to improve. I have a blog in which I have written on pretty much every topic related to bicycles in my area. I'm now wondering, should I start writing about things like restaurants in my area? Museums? Sightseeing? By writing about topics only related by location am I somehow diluting the authority of a bicycle related site? Dynamic Ads a bad thing?

I have a small law firm and use Adwords is my PPC. Since Dynamic Ads came out they are the majority of my clicks/conversions. However my question is... since dynamic ads present the user with what they want to "see", how do i prevent the search from being an informative search vs one that will actually convert? It almost seems that keywords are less relevant now that dynamic ads exist? I currently have a PPC guy but I am considering having someone to a Adwords audit and see how we can improve. How should internal anchor text look like?

Hi guys, There's thousands of info regarding this already, but I wanna hear your opinion. Let's say I've a main subpage /dog-training and 100 news/blog posts on the same website linking to it. For best results, if I wanna rank for exact match kw, in this case Dog training should all of those posts have a anchor text dog training or I should still have different variations of it? Like; read about dog training, best way to train a dog, train a dog, how to train your dog etc. I mean I know it looks better and not as spammy if you use variation. But if I have no intend to rank on other kw beside Dog training . How would you approach this? Unable to view Google Analytics data for blog

Hi! I was about to begin creating a content + link-building strategy for this website that's built in Bootstrap 4 and the blog which is hosted as a sub-folder on WordPress. I wanted to start off by creating a baseline but the problem is I'm unable able to see sessions to the blog posts after a certain date but I can see the hits to Home and index pages. Online course lesson upload timescale

If I want to develop an education website with online courses it it better to release a new lesson each week or some similar format. The logical thing to do would be to make some courses and add them all at once but I know in terms of seo blog posting regular posting helps with seo. Is this different for blog posts compared to normal content? If so how does google know the difference between a blog post and a regular informative web page? Any way to reduce outsourced blogging costs for my niche sites?

Hey there, long time lurker. (hi other lurkers!) I currently run 3 niche blogging websites which are all on autopilot via outsource writers. One of them has been around for almost 2 years, with 60+ well written articles. This one has been making me money from ads and eBook sales (which is my plan for the other 2 sites). My other 2 sites are of similar niches that I have pretty strong confidence will grow quite well organically also. These two are only 1 month old. My issue is, to get these new sites start indexing well I'm spending $10USD per week on each site for a 500 word article. I worked out the math and when I do this for my 2 sites it totals to about $1100USD over 12 months, which is a lot for an independent developer like myself. If I also add on my fortnightly costs for my already well established site, the sum total to manage 3 niche blogs over 12 months ends up being closer to $1500USD. I was wondering, has anyone been in a similar situation to myself where it sud...

Questions about headings

I'm using a page builder and they don't currently have the option that allows me to globally change the font size for my h1 h2 and h3 headings. Essentially, my h2 headings that I use for subtitles in my article are too large to be aesthetically pleasing, and the size of h3 is more appropriate. Is using h3 headings instead of h2 and h4 instead of h3 in my paragraphs of my articles going to cause any negative effects on Google's ability to crawl my site, or is this ok to do? Would appreciate any insights. submitted by /u/Consistent-Glass [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3aRJ1cQ

Will a table of contents negatively impact a post for too many internal links

I have used moz to scan a few pages on my site. One of the complaints it has about a few pages is the number of internal links. The pages in question are wiki pages where there is a tree structure to show the table of contents. Each post in this table can be clicked to bring you to that page of the wiki. Some of these wikis can have over 30 pages. The table of contents is toggled, so it doesn't cause a problem, but it means a lot of internal links. This does add a lot of internal links but this provides a good user experience. How do i fix this? Do i have to sacrifice usability to stop a google using this as a negative ranking factor? submitted by /u/dano1066 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/2uH8yFb

Impact of "Case Studies" or "News Articles" on SEO?

Hi everyone, I'm very new to SEO and wordpress in general (I've been asked to take control by my boss and it is not my area of expertise at all!) so apologies if this is a stupid question! I have read that dead pages or "zombie pages" can affect the google rankings of our company website. Do past news articles or case studies contribute to these? For instance, we often write case studies which showcase the service we provide but these case studies may still have relevant information despite being published in 2013. Similarly, news articles are often posted to provide interesting reading or hopefully link people to our website in an organic way. Should I be removing old examples and if so, which ones should I remove and how do I decide? Many thanks in advance! submitted by /u/HoffmanMC [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/2RX29O1

After setting up everything, wrote 3-4 articles in the next 2 weeks about the movie including some random details related to the movie casts and stuff. Nothing happened. Later on, I deleted all those 3-4 articles and started writing about a few popular exams in India - like eligibility criteria, syllabus, dates, books to prepare, etc. On average, I was publishing 1 article of ~1000 words almost every week. No link-building at all. Just basic on-page optimizations. From March 2019, started seeing some traffic of about 1000/month on the site. Kept doing the same - 1 article pe...

What to do with a client's outdated blog ?

My client, a printing company, had their website done about 5-7 years ago, and their SEO strategy at the time was to create a blog filled with various topics surrounding the printing industry, from techniques, to how business cards can help your brand, etc. But, they did not keep it updated with new content throughout the past 4-5 years. So, it's time for a new site and given the way people use the web these days, we want to cut out A LOT of the fat. Practically speaking, I feel like the blog should go, but I don't want to hurt their SEO by dropping 30 or so 301's and deleting the thing. Will deleting the blog hurt the site's overall reputation? Of course there are new strategies to be put in place like uniformly linking everything to their social media accounts, reaching out to industry society groups to provide some fresh inbound links, a modest PPC campaign on platforms, and getting some video up on youtube as well. Who is the decision maker for implementing backlinks?

The company I work for gave me quite a difficult target. A combined domain authority of 1000 for our .com domain and 1200 for our foreign domains. As I am preparing my outreach strategy, I stumbled upon an issue which is who should I reach out to. Is it the marketing manager, web designers? Apologies upfront if this is a weird question, but I'm not so long in this game so I'm hoping to get some help :-). submitted by /u/CidAndroid [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/2U5j5Ev
