Redirect 301

I had this question before but plan changes, I need some good idea for that. I have 3 Website with same relevant content. Website A, B, C. I did renew, and redesign Website A and I want to 301 redirect B, C to A. I want to only keep domains B,C and redirect to A, Before I thought I will keep website B, C with hosting but because of budget I should stop hosting only redirect to Website A. My question is should I redirect every Page to relevant page from B,C to Website A? For example: • Home page (B,C) to home page A • About page (B,C ) to About page A Or because of I am not keeping hosting dosent matter page to page all can do Website C, B Homepage To Website A Home page and no need to other page because I am not keeping hosting and website B,C will be down I don’t need page to redirect website B, C to A. submitted by /u/Targeted_visitors [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/fNQvktu

May 2022 Google update drastically affected Google Analytics geo data

My business has multiple domains. Almost all domains show a clear shift in geo data starting late May. The sessions show a sharp increase in NY and IL traffic that looks to be simply shifting from other states. Meaning this is not really coming from those geos, it is ALL channels, and it is just now bucketing a portion of each state into two states. I cannot find anyone else reporting this! Timing seems correlated to algo update as if Google changed something on how GA is tracking geo. But again all channels and it isn't really coming from those states. Any one have ideas as to cause? submitted by /u/addy998 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/ImKPdGp

The Biggest Threat to SEO, is the practice of SEO!

The Biggest Threat to SEO, is the practice of SEO. If that's confusing, allow me to elaborate. Yesterday I was scrolling down my Twitter feed, and saw this TikTok video talking about how more and more people are using TikTok search instead of Google search, because of the higher quality search results. Personally, I agree with her. I've stopped using Google for a lot of things, namely: 1, Anything travel related. It's a cluster f*ck of aggregator sites that just regurgitate the same listings. 2. Anything cooking/recipe related. Every recipe is 40 pages long in order to trick the algorithm into ranking. 3. Anything home services related. We recently renovated our home and using Google to try and find contractors was a complete nightmare. This is just a few examples, but the list goes on. I REFUSE to Google anything marketing related, because all of the top articles are just a regurgitation. Borrowed ideas pieced together to grab the top spot. No insights, no origi...

Warby Parker dodges 1-800 Contacts lawsuit over search results, website

A lawsuit filed by 1-800 Contacts against online retailer Warby Parker has been dismissed by a federal judge. At issue was Warby Parker’s use of 1-800 Contacts’ branded keywords to redirect searchers to the Warby Parker online store, thereby “confusing” potential customers. The decision. Kevin Castel, senior judge of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, ruled against 1-800 Contacts, saying that customers are unlikely to think that they’re buying from 1-800 Contacts when they click on a Warby Parker ad. Castel also said the companies’ trademarks were too dissimilar to confuse contact-lens buyers, who are likely to pay close attention to what they are purchasing and noted that Warby Parker’s name is clearly displayed in the search results and on its website. Castel added that prospective customers will take the time to figure out that the search results link to Warby Parker’s website, and will therefore discern that they are buying from contacts from Warby ...

Facebook testing new sidebar, channels for groups

Facebook is testing a new sidebar that helps users find groups quicker and easier. The sidebar lists your groups and their latest activity like posts or chats. You can also pin your favorite groups so you can access them quicker, and even create your own. The case for groups.  Facebook groups aren’t new. Groups are used to get users with similar interests, and hobbies together, in a place where they can collaborate, communicate, sell, or meet in person. This reorganization doesn’t change the functionality of groups or how they work, but reorganizes them within the Facebook platform and offers a few new features. How groups are organized.  In the new sidebar, you’ll be able to easily see a menu that takes you to links for events, shops, chats, or other channels within the group.  Within their groups, admins can create individual channels to allow smaller, more casual interactions. This is meant to drive deeper discussions and organize the group around sub-topics of in...

Weekly Impression Spike

30+ agencies form new group to support reproductive rights

A new group – Agencies for Reproductive Rights (ARR) – has been formed by more than 30 search organizations.  The group’s purpose. It is to provide abortion travel benefits for team members following the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade. According to the ARR’s website: “Each agency … has agreed to cover travel expenses for employees seeking an abortion to the nearest state where legal and safe care is available.” As Michael King, founder & CEO of iPullRank, put it on Twitter , “if you work at @iPullRankAgency and live in a state that doesn’t support a woman’s right, whatever plane, train or automobile you need to take is on us.” There are still many details to work out, as the group was only formed over the weekend and announced today. What is for sure is that the group is free to join, and there is a form on the ARR site to do so. Why the group formed. “I woke up Friday still reeling from the fact that my wife, Jill, and my two daughters, were just told by their...

301 redirect scam?

Hi, I’m hoping you’re able to help with this one. I received a call the other day to purchase some “premium domains” which were based on my area of business based on my local city. I was advised that these were old domains with domain authority, and if I purchased them, they would setup a 301 redirect to my domain, and I would therefore get a boost in page rank in Google. To give an example of the domains, let’s say it’s for window cleaning. I’m UK based, so I purchased the domain windowcleaningbirmingham.co.uk (this is not the real domain). Is it true that this will give my existing domain a better rank in Google, from having this 301 redirect from the windowcleaningbirmingham.co.uk domain? submitted by /u/Philljp [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/DcHtBz8

My friend owns a business with 80 locations across the country, however each store is owned and operated individually with separate names. But, they operate under the 'City Surfs' banner. Also each store has their own GMB profiles they manage. Question: Choosing between user comments or passing webvitals?

I represent a popular news content site, and we produce a large amount of unique author-generated articles. We have been working diligently on improving IT and site speed issues and have reached the following position: All content on our site is passing Google Webvitals on both mobile and desktop - with the exception of our DISQUS comment threads. These threads by nature of DISQUS' technology do not pass CLS and LCP (in some cases). So we are sitting at about a 95% webvitals passing ratio for the entire site and are left with two choices. Accept the failing webvitals on the comment threads, but keep them. set all the comment threads to NOINDEX, which will bring our webvitals passing rate up to 100% for the site. However Google has mentioned there is a "positive effect" to having user generated comments on a content site and that sites should not remove them and not expect to see some type of negative effect from the algo. What do you think the correct solution i...

Yoast Canonical URL Points to the Incorrect URL

Yesterday, I migrated my client's site from staging to production as a GoDaddy Managed WordPress site. After migrating the domain to the Managed Wordpress site, I ran a site audit in Ahrefs and found that the xml sitemap included noncanonical URLS. Upon further inspection in the page source, I found that Yoast was still including staging domain in the canonical URLs for every page. To fix this issue, I first edited the canonical URL for every page, post, product, category, etc. in the Yoast settings and flushed the cache. Now the correct domain is included in the canonical URL for every page, except for the home page. I implemented every solution I could find in other forums, which included replacing the staging domain with the correct domain in the databases, and flushed the cache. The correct canonical URL shows in the page source when I'm logged into the WordPress dashboard, but it does not show when I am logged out. Has anyone else encountered this issue after migrating...

Google Indexed my form attachments and traffic tanked - Suggestions?

I have about a 140 page local business website that gets around 6000 organic visitors per month. I notice traffic tanked late May (consistent with May update). In GSC, I noticed that around 300 "indexed, not submitted in sitemap" URL's were indexed in late May. Upon further inspection, they were all Formidable form attachments (mostly PDF's) and a lot of them were spammy form submissions (some were legitimate). We now have over 500 URL's indexed and most of them are nonsense PDF's. I'm guessing this had a lot to do with the drop in traffic. They are all coming from one form, in our "uploads" folder and there's no immediate way to noindex form submission attachments manually or using Yoast. What would you guys suggest I do? I'm toying with the idea of just using Cpanel to manually delete the 300 form attachments and waiting for Google to realize they are gone. Aged domain with 301 redirect to existing site?

SEO career transitions

Recently I have come across a lot of roles for specifically SEO analysts, as well as web/digital analysts and reading the job descriptions it seems like SEO analysts would have a great advantage in bridging that gap. So I've been wondering if anyone had or has thought about this kind of transition and what would be possible role wise. submitted by /u/mox616 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/RevcH2Q

What is Black Hat SEO? Was it at all? Or is there ??

There was a time when Google's algorithm was not so smart then some of the so-called (SEOs) would bring keyword stuffing irelevant backlinks, link pyramids, and so on to the keyword rank. But from the time they started working on smart algorithms like Panda, Penguin, and Hummingbird, all those unnatural contents started getting penalized. Since then, there has been a lot of talk about black hats. Google always like natural & information-based websites/pages. If I look at the content, it is easy to bring it to the surface. The rise of Blackhat SEO experts came at a time when Google was beginning to penalize spammers for their unnatural activities. This is my belief, and I am seeking the opinion of more experts. Using multiple good domain names to help SEO

Sorry, I'm SURE this has already been asked plenty of times before. I have multiple good domain names relevant to the industry I'm in. How do I best use those domain names to help with the SEO of my primary website? I was thinking of making similar websites and linking back to my main site but I read another post saying that's not a good idea. submitted by /u/ITWorksNZ [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/C2QAYhI

Keyword research and content optimization for a Panamanian's website

Hello there, I will be quick. I have a client based in Panama and I am helping them with the SEO work. I have pretty much covered all the on-page optimizations and I am currently working on new content for the blog so I can do some more internal link building. The Issue I am facing right now is that when I check SEMrush or GSC to find kws for the blog, I cannot find anything. I even checked the keyword planner to see if I could find some kws variations there we could optimize BUT nothing there either. This leads to my next question, what kws can we target that drive traffic to the website as well? Side note They don't have competitors so I cannot see what their competitors are writing about or what keywords they're ranking for. It's been a bit of a challenge, to be honest. How Do I Shake The Bad Name The SEO Industry Has Been Given?

I don't do any pyramid schemes, MLMs, or anything even remotely close to that type of work; however, I work in the SEO industry running my own digital marketing agency that helps businesses grow their online presence. Now I love my job and I've been able to provide solid results for each one of my clients with many of them staying with me for over a year now, but it seems whenever I try to grow my business I run into the same problems over and over. That problem is the bad name associated with the SEO industry. It's really begun to annoy me as too many people have been burned by scammers claiming to do SEO or even more so just people who straight up lied to them promising overnight results and not being able to produce. It's gotten to the point where I can provide an individual with a full video overviewing my process and telling them it'll help their business and they'll be interested but the moment I say it's SEO the deal is off the table. What can I do t...

How to generate Income if my blog ranks for Local keywords in a different country?

Local keywords like plumbers. What can I do to make income of it if I rank there. Running ads won't be a priority. Is there a way to analyze avg session duration and bounce rate of any webpage?

Hi, I personally think that, in order to determine real content quality for each keyword, checking avg session duration and bounce rate is really important, so that I am able to check how my competitors surpasses my ranking in Google search for specific webpage because of backlink power or content quality. Is there a way to analyze avg session duration and bounce rate of any webpage? Clients website went down because he had an extremely dated website and his hosting provider updated their PHP

Hi everyone. I currently have a client who has hired me to develop a new website for him because his previous site was made in the early 90’s and was extremely outdated. Problem is, as I was building his site on a seperate test domain, his website went down. I contacted his hosting provider and found that they had recently updated their PHP and that this was likely the cause of his website crashing and being delisted from search results. I have since transferred his domain to my Godaddy account and launched a new website on the domain but the site is not showing up despite the site using the same keywords and similar content. Is this just a matter of the site being new and Google not yet crawling the site? His old website was ranking despite a lack of SSL and poor UX because it had been around for a long time and was one of the first in his niche… Mostly posting because I’d like to hear thoughts from some more experienced SEO people about what I can do or how best to make sense o...

[Noob question] Does mobile page speed affect ranking on desktop?

That's it. I have a WP Elementor site that seems to be a whole lot slower on mobile devices than it is on desktop (core web vitals are about 85+ on desktop and just a little over 40 on mobile) How concerned should I be about that, and does mobile page speed affect desktop rankings? submitted by /u/WayTooBlazed [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/IhDWlKY

Is there a Bulk Plagiarism Tool For Google Drive?

I run a content company and I would like to find out where all of the content that we have written over the years may be currently published. I figure a plagiarism checker would be the way to go, but I have over 600 Gigs of content to sift through. Ideally I would like to find a tool that allows me to connect my Google Drive account and it will just scan the docs, check for "plagiarism", and then return the results of any URL's in a spreadsheet for me. Any suggestions on software that might do this, or maybe there's an easy way I haven't considered? submitted by /u/tomowudi [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/PYviNxG

Does buying an expired domain that is redirected to a website within the same niche for 3-4 years affect SEO?

I found an 15 years old expired domain that was acquired by a company for 3-4 years and they basically 301 redirect it to their main website. Does buying this domain worth it? Will it rank in Google? The domain DA is 8 and Spam Score is 0. I bought a similar type of aged expired domain previously which still does not rank anywhere on Google even after 3-4 months. submitted by /u/SanjayCEO [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/xTYeQsE
