I have this question in my mind for a past two minutes and decided to ask you all. I'm just working for an SEO field about 7-8 months. So, just wanted to know what's the trick or method that you have tried it yourself and definitely working for getting to higher rank in Google? Google is killing me slowly and I need to resort to Reddit

Since the Google algorithm update hit on June 7, the website I'm in charge of lost >30% of organic traffic overnight (most coming from our blog) and hasn't recovered. Google said "core web vitals" (largest content paint, total blocking time and cumulative layout shift) were now a part of the ranking algorithm. The website was made with Avada, a very bloated Wordpress theme with terrible core web vitals. An "F" score on GTMetrix despite the caching and cloudflare CDN. So I went to work and made a whole new website with Astra, keeping the same URLs and links and using re-directs on some of the blogs with irregular URLs. The website now has top core web vital marks and an "A" score on GTMetrix. Largest content paint went from ~9seconds to less than 1 sec. New website went up Thursday night (June 24th) and organic traffic is STILL slowly, but steadily falling. from 1500-1600 weekly users in May to now 900-1000 weekly users. I'm also starting...

I have a question

I have around 35k pages on my site that are absolute garbage. At the same time a have a section with a real good posts, quality articles. The thing is google doesn't care about the good ones and permanently moving them to the omitted results. So i think i need to delete those 35k low quality pages, but it's a bit scary. So the question is: does deleting those pages will affect my site negatively in terms of DA or some kinds of bans? Btw, at the moment those 35k pages don't bring any organic traffic at all, but they did it earlier. I apologize for possible mistakes in the text, English is not my native language. Would be happy to hear any thoughts <3 submitted by /u/LowCapGem [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/364OfRy

Can I filter pages by brand without WooCommerce?

I’m transferring a website from Weebly to Wordpress on a localhost. The website has products that people can’t buy online, as they have to contact us for prices and installation requirements. The products were built as pages (not products) and they were featured and categorised using image galleries on different pages. So I am doing the same on Wordpress, but I have changed the schema to products and organised them hierarchically with parent pages. Is there a way to categorise them by product brand? Would it be better for SEO if I used WooCommerce? Any advice would be appreciated. Looking for new SEO insights - Show me example websites

I've been in the SEO specialist position for over 2 years now and the results we've achieved are satisfactory, so far. I've learned most of the things by practicing and reading books & articles simultaneously. We're doing our SEO practices a certain way, and I'm sure it applies to every SEO specialist or agency. What I'm looking for here is to see how different agencies or people do their SEO so I can explore what I've been missing out on and what can be added into my focus to get better results. Reading something and applying it is one thing, but seeing how something is really done in practice is another. For example, I thought I'd love to look into how Neil Patel does SEO for his new clients with zero organic traffic, but couldn't find anything on the internet. If anyone has something to share, such as new websites worked by SEO specialists who know what they are doing, I'd love to hear it. Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/azi...

How do you do SEO for recipes?

Say for example I have a term "perfect homemade tarantello pasta". Now there's so many of these pastas on Google, it's crazy. But if I did add "perfect" to my post, would I rank for "perfect homemade tarantello pasta" or would I also rank for "homemade tarantello pasta"? Newbie question: how can I find keywords with little to no competition? Everything is always taken!

I am befuddled by the idea of finding keywords I can write an article about when for every keyword I try to find there's always an article. And how can I even find those keywords if I am not an expert in the topic? Is there a better, smarter way to finding keywords and topics to write about that have no/little competition? You're saying that in order to rank, especially on pretty new websites like mine, basically I need to think about search terms that 1% of the people (within that niche) think about. Is this correct? Thank you. submitted by /u/Whatthe7593 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3x7idA8

SEO on WordPress - with plugins or without plugins?

Hi guys, not really an SEO expert here, but rather a web designer and developer. I am thinking about the idea to leave SEO plugins behind. Over time I came to the conclusion that those plugins are the holy grail for people with limited technical skills. To me, the only benefit I can gather is that those plugins make things happen quickly. However, in some cases a bug in an SEO plugin can potentially mess up rankings, not to mention how bloated some of those plugins are. That's why I want to have more control over and "break free" from the bloat. More than advice, I'm looking for opinions from real SEO experts - do you think there is a benefit in using SEO plugins? If yes, which is your go to SEO plugin? And finally, is there anyone here who has already left behind SEO plugins and are you happy with that choice? submitted by /u/OldLuck77 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/361iw3r

Concerned about keyword stuffing with location based keywords

So lets say I am trying to target Boston breweries as a keyword. However, I also want to target things like "Boston beer brewers," "Boston IPA," "Boston bars" as my other keywords. Naturally, I'll be saying Boston often in the copy on my homepage. I'm concerned if I write Boston too many times, it'll see that either as stuffing worst-case or nullify it as a keyword, best case. Are my concerns misplaced? What's the best practice for this? submitted by /u/interpellation [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3qEAH8z

What to do next, when next has already been done.

Hello fellow SEO people, I recently started at a new agency in London, and I've finally been given free-range on a travel insurance brand/account - this is quite an old account for this agency and most of the tech SEO work has been carried out. Obviously, it's a little hard trying to advise on an account without much context, but all I can say is that it's within the travel insurance/ holiday insurance niche. If anyone here has any advice on things to look into to help boost rankings etc - that would be such a huge help. I'm trying to prove my value to this agency as much as I can, haha. Getting meta title/description placeholders to update on time

Over the last 6 months, been facing a particular challenge with a business I work for - they operate in a very fast paced and competitive market (from SEO stand point) where top positions fluctuate a lot. As we have a lot of content that updates daily on our page, we find that CTR is particularly pegged to meta titles and descriptions being reflective of content above the fold as well as showcasing the current month (eg. Services for hire - New stock available - June 2021) To do this, we have set our page's H1 with placeholders that automatically update to the latest date (%month% for example) but have had a lot of trouble getting Google to fetch this change in a timely manner. This means that for several days of June, we will still be fighting to get rid of a May meta title - which obviously hurts rankings for us if competitors are able to update faster. This is despite the actual page title switching correctly and the H1's reading June on the page as expected. Fetching thr...

Vertical sites and SEO

Hi, A question on vertical or authority sites for B2B service business. I have a core company that sells IT services but I would like to set up individual sites for verticals such as lawyers, creatives etc. I know subdomains are a better approach from an SEO perspective but I am looking for some separation on the individual brands. Content on the sites will mostly be similar to each other with some themes, keywords etc specific to the target industry. Structure is essentially: Site 1: domain 1 (operating business servicing all) Site 2: domain 2 (trading name focussed on laywers) Site 3: domain 3 (trading name focussed on retail, content is the same as site 2 with changes specific to industry) What is the best way to approach this from an SEO perspective? There are all kinds of problems imaginable. The website is not new and has thousands of indexed pages. The ranking of none of the old posts has dropped. The new posts that get indexed rank well. Lost keywords and traffic dipped, what should I do?

Hey everyone, So over this past month, since the beginning of June my publishing website's traffic has been dropping erratically. I say erratically because it is not a sharp decline and we have had days with higher than usual traffic in the middle as well. However, On average our organic traffic is about 25% lower than usual this month. And, we have lost 13% of our keywords. It is worth mentioning that we had recently published new content, which had increased our keywords by 15% last month, but the keywords we have lost are not the new ones we gained last month. It is a mix of keywords gained from many different periods. We haven't done anything differently this month, except finish development on some changes in design for our articles. The development, however, happening last month as well, so I don't personally think that is the cause of the issue here. Appreciate any guidance. submitted by /u/Solid_Switch [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimi...

Informational Site linked to Commercial Site

A client has several domains related to their industry since forever. Historically, they had 20+ informational sites and commercial sites for the business, but pointing back to a main site as a way to generate business. This was great back in the day, because they basically owned the front page. Alas, Google eventually cracked down on this technique, and it has since become frowned upon and may hinder rankings. I am curious. Right now, they have two sites. One advertising a specific service (A). The other (B), a bunch of services and their brand. But the company name is not part of the domain. In fact, the domain would better be used as an informational site. I would like to transition the (B) commercial site towards an informational site. Not really selling services. But providing information about various things in the industry. At the same time, linking back to a new site. I would create a new site C, that is completely branded. And actually sells the services. Would this be...

What's better for local - dedicated domains or directory site?

Curious what the general consensus is. I have a friend who is buying up small businesses in the same niche across the USA. They all have their own domains, content, etc. He has already staffed everyone needed to overhaul all these sites (content writers, PPC guys, designers, etc). The big question is - if they are not going to be rebranded - is it better to just shut down (with 301s) those domains and unify all the content on one directory type domain (obviously with the correct schema for local) or keep all the independent sites running? Most of the individual locations are considered independent from one another by all intents and purposes, just with the same owner. The content is not an issue, as the writing staff is full time and will produce unique content for any/all of the sites. Just to complicate the question further - if he was to rebrand some or all of those stores to his primary brand, would that affect your opinion (given that they would need new domain names anyway t...

Do you track User Intent Keywords?

As the title suggests - do you track "Buy + [Keyword] + Online"? I guess you should - right? I'm asking because I don't seem to see people tracking User Intent - typically I just see folks tracking seed keywords and in fact - those seed words don't convert so well for the obvious broad reason... submitted by /u/concisehacker [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3dn2TaD

Any benefit to publishing blogs from other niches?

I’m regularly getting requests to post blogs to my website. If they were scuba related I accept them normally. But what about outside the niche? Example: a scuba website and a first air provide wants to write a first aid blog for us. It could be written in such a fashion to be scuba relevant, of course. But help me understand how I can benefit with SEO on this, if even possible? submitted by /u/Sloeber3 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3xToZt8

Crawled/Discovered - Not Currently Indexed

What can I do to get pages indexed where Google search console says they are crawled or discovered but not indexed? I've already requested indexing and resubmitted my sitemap. These pages are well written blog posts that provide education or information. They aren't spammy. Will these pages eventually be indexed if I wait long enough? It's really strange because Google indexed most of my blog posts but randomly not all of them. Could this have anything to do with whether the link was submitted as http or https or with neither? submitted by /u/OWbeginner [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/2StG2D2

SEO benefits from Infographics

We accept a fair amount of guest posts and some of the agencies I’ve collaborated with have pitched some great infographics. I have noticed some agencies share their embed codes, which includes a backlink to their site. But we normally upload their infographic into the CMS media library and then add it in the article. I get they’d benefit from some link juice if we used the embed code. But would see reap any SEO benefits? Or is it best to upload their infographic into the CMS media library and optimise the file name and alt text? Which method works best? submitted by /u/ai_k95 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3jlalGX

SEO for site similar to yahoo finance

Hi all, Working on a site similar in its organization to yahoo finance: It has a searchable list of publicly traded companies, and once the user clicks on the result they want, novel info on that company is constantly updated every second. My question is, how should webmaster treat SEO for a site like this that has literally thousands of pages that, when crawled, look very similar to each other. I notice that yahoo finance is indexing all of these pages but i cant find any sort of guidelines from google about how they want these pages treated, organized, flagged, etc. These aren't doorway pages, and they aren't technically duplicate content, but they are very low on unique content. Its just constnatly updated key/value pairs that are useful for traders, investors, etc. tbh, im not even sure how best to even ask this question. Mostly looking for best practices in order to show google i am legit site that is not trying to spam keywords with ultra specific pages. Less intere...

Wordpress vs web builders

I’m so attracted to squat space’s themes and SIMPLICITY of use. But at the expense of knowing Wordpress is way better for seo, I’m not sure it’s worth going for Wordpress is sorta complicated IMO. I currently use our website to target key words such as: Scrap car Junk car Cash for cars Etc Question: Could using squarespace with seo tools like semrush, ahrefs, and moz, possibly compete against Wordpress? I wrote utility to find follow links.

It can scan pages for "follow" links and return report and links. It mostly find guest posts, but I filtered them out as I am broke. So it start finding other pages where users can create content. Some of them have nice DA.App found some nice opportunities like: Opportunity that allowed me to create 90k backlinks from one page 40 DA (MY DA jumped from 1-10 and PA from 1-18). Does that kind of application has any worth ? Or not? Not sure if I should spent time to add ML etc. and try to get some partners.Maybe my question is naive a bit. Steady decline in organic keyword positions

I've seen a steady decline in traffic to a travel website from April. The traffic to the site in 2020 has been low, as I'd expect because of covid, however, it should be picking up now, but instead I'm seeing a steady decline in keyword positions. We switched web hosting companies in May because the site was slow, but traffic is still declining. No big changes in content, I've fixed broken links, no manual penalty in Google search console and we haven't lost backlinks . I don't really know where to start diagnosing the issues, any leads or advice on how to figure out why I'm losing traffic would be greatly appreciated. submitted by /u/Doyouwanttoast [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3A0HXQm

SEO question for page keyword focus - how to make it sound natural

So i have a page that sells say hockey sticks and the website is based in Canada. My keyword focus for the page would be hockey sticks canada. It seems to be proper to have this key phrase within the page text and also at the beginning of the first paragraph. But how do i write a first paragraph with this keyphrase and make it sound natural. My first instinct is to write the paragraph like so Hockey sticks Canada - We provide excellent quality hockey sticks nationwide which come with a 1 year warranty and have exceptional build quality and exceed performance expectations. But it just doesnt sound natural. If i put it as follows Hockey sticks in Canada are well known for their quality and craftmanship. We provide excellent quality hockey sticks nationwide which come with a 1 year warranty and have exceptional build quality and exceed performance expectations. I add "in" into the keyphrase to make it sound more natural to the reader. Would google look at this and count...

Frustrated With Results - High Competition Lawyer Site in Philadelphia

So I write this, highly frustrated with the results over the past longest while. The site has a PR/UR of 51/50 and DS 3.66 on Link Assist not too shabby and above most others in the niche. However we are bleeding organic keywords (down to only 1000 now) while trying to keep to the recommendations of SEO's, Google and tools. While competition sites streaking ahead seemingly breaking the on-site " rules " e.g. massive page titles, archives pages listed, WP tags being indexed etc ... We have around 300 pages of content & regular posts of 1-3 per week Faster Pagespeed results than pretty much everyone else in the niche 78/96 Title desc tags on most every page (couple of ) Internal linking 540 referring backlink domains with a pretty clean profile The business name was changed a while back and most citations changed to match Regular posts to GMB for all offices At this point the only place we're showing is on hyper Local search (within a zip code or two)...
