Non-indexable pages

Relative newbie feeling my way through. I've noticed that quite a large number of posts (>30) on my site are "Non-indexable: canonicalised". These are pages that I want google to see, either blog posts or case studies etc. Am I right in thinking they should be indexable and is there a handy guide for how to figure things like this out? Thanks in advance. submitted by /u/corsair965 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/Ukf9dDh

Best WP theme for niche sites

Hi all! So for those in the niche site business, what theme do you recommend for WP? It needs to be fast and also have a good UX - a lot of the themes on WP use lots of external files like font awesome that make the themes extremely slow. Did you know - Bing Webmaster tools is one of the best free SEO tools available?

As Bing is a distant third/fourth+ place to Google (behind YouTube, and probably Baidu and Yandex) - not many people are familiar with Bing's Webmaster tools - which are incredibly useful, even if you're mainly (only) targeting Google. We thought of making a Youtube guide/blog post and sharing it here (mods above willing) - but just wanted to get a sense of interest. Keyword research should not be only about competition. Sure, you can rank in a couple of low-competitive ones but you should keep some metrics in mind. Here are the 5 characteristics that you should look for:

1: Queries related to the keyword Pages tend to rank for different queries as variations or related keywords. You should get a sense of the lead query to make pages that answer multiple questions in different contexts. Google Autocomplete and PAA are good places to start. After that check your GSC to get all the related queries to update your pages regularly with new sections. 2: Keywords' theme and consistency I've encountered this problem in multiple projects. Your keywords should be within the same micro-topic after that you can expand. You can then link between pages comfortably, In the end, it's about topical authority. It's more about topical coverage and doing the following: -Covering different contexts in the same topic. -Answering as many questions as possible. -Clustering micro-topics. -Scheduling internal links with anchor texts. Hint: the only constraint should be your business goals. 3: Aligning business goals with the target keywords That...

Twitter has launched 3 new ad targeting options

Twitter has just launched new ad targeting options, including a new ‘Conversions’ objective they originally announced back in August. The new ‘Conversions’ objective. Advertisers are now able to focus their ad campaigns on those users who are most likely to take specific actions. Previously, Twitter advertisers were able to optimize campaigns to focus on clicks, site visits, and conversions. But now you can further optimize for page views, content views, add-to-cart, and purchases. As I mentioned, the updates were announced in August but released just before Thanksgiving. What Twitter says. “Website Conversions Optimization (WCO) is a major rebuild of our conversion goal that will improve the way advertisers reach customers who are most likely to convert on a lower-funnel website action (e.g. add-to-cart, purchase).” So instead of just aiming to reach people who are likely to tap on your ad, you can expand that focus to reach users that are more likely to take next-step action...

Newbie Question

Over the years I have created several WordPress websites for hobbies, friends, basic stuff really nothing elaborate or complex. I now want to promote a new division of my business and need some advice on domain names and how they affect SEO. Is it essential or desirable to have the name or type of business in the domain name? I have a 3 letter .com domain name which I have had for over 10 years and the letters coincidently letters spell out the first letters of the business name (this was not by design it just worked out that way). An example would be (not the real domain) YMM.com for a company called Your Money Mentor I hope I have explained myself correctly and this is the right place for my questions, if not just put it down to me being a Newbie. Would appreciate any input from the experts. Cheers submitted by /u/peterjrich [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/vV5Ri81

SEO Tips for Beginners or Pay AIOSEO?

Hello Reddit Folks! I've never done SEO or Google Ads but I want to do both, as I understand Google Ads are pay-per-click and SEO can help people find my site for free in the non-ad section of search results. I just started website #1 that will serve to generate leads from form data and now I need to figure out how to get seen locally. Should I just do a good job researching key words or should I pay aioseo.com $174 (black Friday deal) to do it for me? Also, any advise for streamlining blogs or other processes would be most appreciated too! I understand its worth it to have multiple sites. I'm aiming to add 9 more over the next couple months between blogs, review sites and whatever else I come up with. I just don't have time and it seems like a good deal to let someone else do that part but am I hurting myself by doing so!? Thanks for everyone's input. I haven't read everything yet but I see a lot of good advise so far! And I've only got 6 hours until the dea...

Google indexing help for newly launched site, to feature in Google search

Hey Reddit community! I recently launched my blog site online, and am researching things I can do to increase its visibility on Google search. I submitted my site map and site pages to Google Search console for indexing, but it is still not featuring when I search for it on Google. Do I need to do anything else to increase its visibility and ranking? Or does that come over time, and as I add more content to it because my site is so new? Also, Google search console returned results that my text was too small for mobile usability, but I loaded the site on a mobile device and it doesn't look too small. Do I need to fix these errors, or can I just leave them as is? I would appreciate any advice you have! Thank you! submitted by /u/MakingJoyyy [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/08wmC7P

Content duplicates on multilocation pages in 2022-2023

Let's have a discussion. Perhaps I was not alone in wondering about the tactics of multi-location pages, with duplicate content, where only geo keywords change. In many niches, both white and gray, this tactic works. And quite successfully, because in principle there is a logic that the pages will not intersect in one cluster. But Google calls it a technical duplicate and does not recommend using this practice. This is where the battle is created: Writing unique content for each location, which costs 9285719 money VS the chivalrous emergence of Google's Content Update 2023, which will knock hundreds of multi-location pages out of the SERPs, and then there will be a shit panic. And it's still ok if the limit is in the drop index, and not in conspiratorial sanctions. What do you think? Step on the gas and create a lot of pages with "Industry + Location" markers and stay with money in your pocket or spend a lot of money on content and be calm in the coming year...

Search console says site has mobility issues, but Mobile-Friendly test says all is fine.

On my page I get the following mobility issues in Search Console: Text too small to read, Clickable elements too close together, Content wider than screen. But when checking with "Mobile-Friendly Test" (which is linked from Search Console) all is fine, i.e. Page is usable on mobile. Keyword ranking sinks by 50 positions. How is it possible? Experts pls come in.

Got Semrush alert telling me two keywords rankings have sunk: One by 50 positions, the other by 9 positions. Background info: I’m battling against an seo agency I paid 2k a month for a year which didn’t index 65% of the pages created for ranking and bought a bunch of link farm links. I put everything i found on the table with them last Wednesday, then on Thursday I got that notification. Could they have done something? I checked google search console and saw the backlinks on the specific page losing 50 positions didn’t change. My biggest concern was they removed backlinks to that page (to wipe themselves clean on the black hat seo claim). Could google search console actually have a delay? Meantime, from now to a settlement being reached with them either by me or my lawyer, what should I do to protect my online asset? I’ve already done the following: Removed their access to my google search console Removed their access to my Wordpress and WPEngine. Any suggestions are welcom...

How to force Google to index a page

Hi, I have been running a business site for over a year now. A couple of my pages Google is refusing to index. Just two pages actually. One is under 'Discovered - currently not indexed', and one is under 'Crawled - currently not indexed'. These two pages have been stuck in this state of purgatory since early September. And I am at a loss as to what the problem could be. I have rearranged and rewritten both posts by maybe 40% and changed images on the pages too. Also, I changed the captions for the images. Done almost anything I can think to change each page enough so they'll get indexed but Google is still not indexing them. I am more concerned with 'Discovered - currently not indexed' since that situation has been going on much longer. Is there a process you use to get Google to index a page? Just submitting it to be indexed is not working? I have done everything I can think of except change the URL slug. But that would change the keyword I am hoping to...

Google Analytics vs Google Search Console Organic Clicks do not Match

Hello, We last last year switched to a new seo vendor. Trying to really understand how to measure success based on Google Analytics and Google Search Console. Only issue is these numbers dont match and I am unable to understand the metrics. For example in Google Analytics we show the exactly the same number of clicks in our city to last year, when we filter by organic. However in Google Search console we show the clicks have tripled in the last year. How can these numbers be so different. Is google search console counting ppc? If someone can please answer would be grateful. Thanks. submitted by /u/Anonymous-305 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/6QUSp5u

Content length - when to combine multiple articles or break them out?

I'm having a hard time knowing when to break content into its own page. Been bashing my head against this article all week. Trying not to make it a beast, but it keeps getting bigger and I'm starting to pushing 4000 words and haven't filled out all my headings and FAQs I'm working on I guess a "comprehensive guide to X". It's I suppose a relatively broad category topic. While doing some SERP analysis, I noticed a bit of a mix between a buyers guide a what is/ how to guide. To me as someone looking for a guide to doing X, I would think you'd want to learn the "what, when, why, and where's" about the topic as well as what to look for when buying it. I guess as a similar example I could use a wrench to explain how my content is structured: Title: comprehensive guide to wrenches What is a wrench When and where to use a wrench? How to use a wrench Types of wrenches(each type would link to its own subpage: best 6 point wrench, best 8 ...

Is Google the next Yahoo?

Few years ago when you tried searching for something on Yahoo search, it showed up search results to answers that were both confusing as well as vague. You would not use Yahoo again. Today Google has become the same. Ask any question that's one layer deep on any given topic and it shows up answers that are generic and vague like Yahoo search is. You would come out being more confused than you did before the search. Google knows it has this issue. It's doing nothing about it. We all know, two months ago Google launched a "Helpful Content Update" where it warned and made assuraces that this update would make everthing 'Ok'. It would be like the Panda or any of those updates that kept SEO junkies sweating all day! They said the update would solve the issues of unhelpful content being found on most search queries. Crickets! Nothing happened. All it did was remove content made by bots! It seems Google has no intention of improving content any more. Its on...

If there are any changes I can do (on the WIX platform) to improve my site's performance kindly let me know! FYI: I am worried only about the Mobile performance, the desktop seems good. submitted by /u/rafa_mpafa94 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News h...

How to seperate paid from organic conversions?

So we have a little fallout with a client. He has his ads account managed by another agency. We only do SEO, but we see the data from the ads account. He pays over 4x in clicks than what he pays us monthly for content management and work on organic rankings. 75% of his paid traffic bounces. Yet he still has amazing results overall. We can't really differentiate between "our" results and what is to be credited to the ads. What should we do? Try to become the exclusive agency for ads and SEO, drop the client, or keep up the work and let him burn money for clicks while he is reluctant to pay us more for the amazing organic rankings we already reached and continue to deliver? For clarification. We let him cut the budget by 50% because the alternative was him not being able to afford us due to liquidity problems. Clients not paying. Payroll Overhead. yadda yadda... No wonder he can't afford us when he blows so much on clicks that don't bring in new clients. I am ...

Question! Own 2 sites, can I move content over?

So I own two blog sites that I have been working on over the past year or so. One of them is in the leisure and games space (blog A) and one is in the gifting space (blog B) I had the "business plan" from Wordpress.com but now I am hoping I can just focus on the leisure/games blog as opposed to writing and paying for both sites. Since I own both sites and the content on each, can I republish the posts from Blog B on Blog A and delete Blog B? Or could I redirect all the articles from one domain to another? Would that impact my rankings? submitted by /u/im_a_hufflepuff [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/4nsbNFL

Are we officially saying goodbye to Twitter? It depends on who you ask

The last few weeks have been nothing short of dramatic over at Twitter headquarters. But before we get into that, I just want to thank dark-paul gosselaar for our cover image inspiration.  And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that I sympathize with all of the employees who have been let go, by choice or not. Thousands of people losing their jobs isn’t a laughing matter and in no way am I making light of it.  How we got here Elon Musk posted eight tweets today, which is surprising for someone who should be busy running a company (into the ground). But his latest round of changes is an undoing of one of his earliest acts as new CEO, which was to ban Kathy Griffin and others for poking fun at his leadership. Kathie Griffin, Jorden Peterson & Babylon Bee have been reinstated. Trump decision has not yet been made. — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) November 18, 2022 But the week started with Musk sending out an (encrypted?) email to all staffers informing them that the...

Need Immediate Help/Advice - Google Business Profile Deleted - Details Below

Hello, *Mods if this breaks rule 2, please remove. I figured there may those in SEO who could help with a Google Business Profile.* I hope you're all well today. Summary: We transferred domains, and the Business Profile was deleted because the Primary owner's email deleted when the original domain was sold two weeks ago. We've had two support tickets open for almost two weeks now. Support 1: Has told us the Business Profile is reinstated, and live again for the last three days, but it's not. They have not helped further, even when a screenshot was sent showing our Business Profile is not live. Support 2: Has told us the Business Profile can't be retrieved, and we need to create a new one. My question: Has anyone experienced this before, and/or does anyone know anything to help us get this profile working again? All feedback/comments appreciated. Thank you for your time. submitted by /u/Arcannnn [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimizat...

How to Create an SEO Strategy for the Long-Term??

Hello, I am having difficulty on how to create an SEO strategy for the long term. I need help with how to approach a new website/client and develop a strategy to keep a client busy for at least a full year. Once I have a new client/website my approach is like this: First Month: 1- Audit the Website to Find Technical Issues to Be Fixed. 2- Check for PageSpeed and fix issues if necessary 3- Check if the Website Contains Responsive Design and fix issues if necessary 4- Check the Top 10 Pages that are Driving Traffic in the Search Console and Check if they Match the Keyword To the First Part of the Title (CTA in TITLE) Match H1 to the Title Tag Button Matches CTA in the title Check and Setup Call to Actions Above Fold on Main Pages Internal Linking Also, check the Pages in Search Console and Update the Existing Content with Keywords the Webpages are Already Ranking. 5- Keyword Research 6- Audit the Website Content/Get Rid of Duplicate Content 7- Internal Linking Now, this would be d...

Sitemaps Confusion

I've submitted my sitemap from Yoast on WordPress to my GSC. Is this something I have to continuously update(Keep sending fresh sitemaps in every week or new post? etc.) If so, do I delete the old sitemap from my GSC? Image gallery of industry wide portfolio. Add to current site or separate site altogether?

I run a residential contracting business. A lot of customers want to see an example of “the finished product” and there isn’t much to show except for sample swatches of certain colors. I would like to put together a gallery of pictures pooled from other contractors(obviously getting their approval and giving them credit) From an seo perspective, would it be better for me to have the gallery on a separate page on my site, ultimately giving me a boost in authority, or do I create a completely separate site? Just worried if I do it on my site it might interfere with my local rankings? submitted by /u/Printfuel [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/j7zPdtm

Actionable Steps To Improve EAT (Expertise, Authority, Trust)

Hello! I am currently working on a clinical psychology website, which I recognize could be classified as a YMYL type of website. I'm quite new in developing blogs/websites, so I was curious if folks had advice on how to improve Expertise Authority and Trust for my website. For example, would it be helpful for me to have a very developed About Me page (I am currently a senior PhD student in clinical psychology, and have completed my Master's in the same field) or would it be useful to have a short blurb on each post that the article was written/researched/reviewed by myself? If there are any other suggestions or advice (short or long-term) that I could take to work on my EAT, that would incredibly appreciated! Thank you so much! submitted by /u/the_sleepy_student [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/mopUBcN
