Need opinions on new feature!

Hey there, I am building something for AI visibility, like every other person you come across on LinkedIn. I am not going to sell you this tool or even mention it. But, I am planning to incorporate four new features, and I need your opinion on the same. Currently, Most visibility tools only show if you were mentioned, not how much it matters. This is useful to some level, but it gets hard to prioritise which prompt is easier to rank for or harder. I am adding 4 metrics to track and solve for prioritization, think of them as factors in determining the equivalent of Keyword difficulty for Generative Engines. Open AI search behavior - Did Chatgpt search the internet to find the answer/ use training data? If ChatGPT relies on training data, it is hard for your content to get cited since this training data hasn't been updated in a year, AFAIK. You can choose to work on prompts where searches happen more frequently. Likelihood of Google Overviews - For a given prompt, how often di...

Wanted: advice about the change of address tool

Is the change of address tool restricted to sites that have matching pathways? Google's documentation says: If I'm reading this correctly, if the pathways don't match, then there's no point in using the Change of Address tool. It's better to simply create 301s for the site migration. Can anybody confirm? submitted by /u/dsb264 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/zsUlNEV

Good Metrics for an SEO Agency

I hired an SEO agency to help me with one of my websites. What benchmarks should I be looking at and timelines roughly. This was a brand new website. We have been working together for about 3.5 - 4 weeks thus far. He mostly spent time setting up all the technical backend stuff, building a few new pages, keyword research and topic clusters for me to write additional blogs. Thru this work we have gone from 0 to 84 keywords ranking thus far. These are all ranked between positions like 40-80 so not really driving any traffic just yet. But I wasn't expecting much in the first month. So at what timelines and what metrics should I be tracking to know if they're doing a good job. I have a baseline knowledge of all of this, but this is my first vendor hire and I want to be sure to evaluate in a way that makes sense. I am not expecting overnight results or anything but I want to make sure we continue tracking in the right direction. I am happy to answer any questions you may need t...

Super small win, yet means the world!

5 whole clicks this month and an award email from Google! Haha Super small win but when the needle moves you need to celebrate! Testing a hypothesis of 100% automated content can get us ranked in a highly saturated market in a medium sized city for a high ACV industry. To the moon! 😂 submitted by /u/rockysds [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/gVvTtFY

Many types of Schema, which is the most relevant?

I work on our site's SEO and GEO presence internally for a large company that also has three vendors that help do the same. Once thing that keeps constantly coming up is schema markup to help improve generative engine optimization. I'm receiving recommendations about different types of schema that we should be using on our site, however, these schemas are not included in the Google developer's guide like organization/logo, article, webpage, FAQ, etc. These schema recommendations can be found on the Schema.org. What is the difference between the developer's guide schemas and the niche ones being recommended? Is there a difference in how they will perform and/or how Google uses the schema to rank webpages? Search Atlas Group SCAM

I need help. I signed up for a service through Search Atlas Group that uses Stripe for billing. The service had issues during sign-up and asked me to redo the trial process twice. I never got a confirmation email or anything useful — just instant access. A few days later, I am being charged $100 per day, even though: • I canceled and got an email confirming cancellation • My account shows no active subscription • I emailed them twice (including a warning I’d sue) with no response • I even blocked the company via my bank, but it’s still going through somehow We’ve spent more time trying to stop them than actually using the product. This feels like a scam or at least extremely shady business. Stripe is processing the charges, but I can’t get them to stop on my end. What I’ve done: • Contacted my bank (waiting to hear back on a dispute) • Emailed the company twice (ignored) • Blocked the company (still billing somehow) • Gathered proof (email confirmations, screenshots, etc.) I just ...

Google traffic down on July 7

Looks like ChatGPT Using Google Search Index

As I've mentioned a few times - esp since Microsoft broke the Windsurf deal (OpenAI wanted to acquire them for $3bn - WindSurf was an LLM coding engine) - ChatGPT has been moving more to Google results (which, lets face it are much better than Bing's repetitive resultS) Second, Aleyda Solis did a similar thing and published her findings on her blog and shared this on X as well. She said, "Confirmed - ChatGPT uses Google SERP Snippets for its Answers." She basically created new content, checked to make sure no one indexed it yet, including Bing or ChatGPT. Then when Google indexed it, it showed up in ChatGPT and not Bing yet. She showed that if you see the answer in ChatGPT, it is exactly the same as the Google search result snippet. Plus, ChatGPT says in its explanation that it is grabbing a snippet from a search engine. submitted by /u/WebLinkr [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/QKR5FkZ

What should I learn next?

Hi all! I am new to SEO and have been doing it for about 2 months now. I do off-site and on-site SEO as well as Google Ads and LSA. I want your option on what I should prioritize learning next. Here is a list of things I already feel I have a good understanding of (excluding SEM stuff): Google Business Page optimization Backlinking Citation building Title tags Meta descriptions Image Alt text Keyword choice Making sure all the links works on the website Importance of page load speed. TOFU vs MOFU vs BOFU (I know the basics of this, but should I keep learning more about this?) I have a degree in design not coding or marketing so Im in one of those "I dont know what I dont know" type situations. Alternatives to SEMRush

It's that time again, it's time for lovely "Is SEMRush worth it or should I spend money elsewhere?" Our renewal is up soon, and I've noticed they took away a few tools that we had when we signed up (namely competitor analysis information), and now looped that into a new tool that costs more than the base subscription itself (seriously, you wanna charge me $2500 for the base tool, then $3500 on top of that for something that was in there originally?) My gut is "no, don't spend $10k/year on the tool" so I'm looking for good alternatives that will let me: - Track keyword positions - Get some info on which keywords are showing in AI Overview (and essentially any AI data as my director is really trying to dig into that) - Gives me information on keyword volume - Gives me some insight into what my competitors are ranking for - Related keywords based on my core keyword search I don't really trust their paid data, as the CPC info is just a g...

New website, now it's time to SEO

Hi r/SEO , I work at a company that invested a lot of time and $ in upgrading their website at the beginning of the year, and the site looks and seems to function much, much better. We are in the mid-market and enterprise B2B SaaS and hardware space. The agency we worked with to redesign and republish the site was very skilled, but now we are looking to move on to SEO and trying to figure out where to start. Tech stack: Webflow + Webflow CMS for hosting SurferSEO for content assistance Ahrefs Basic data from ahrefs: DR: 26 (competitors are in the mid- to high-40s) Referring domains: 90 (competitors are much, much higher - typically hundreds) Total visitors: 1.7K Organic Traffic: 261 When we look at our competitors and their data (at least on ahrefs), we seem way behind. We started reworking some pages (8 of about 90 or so) using Surfer and within a few weeks, GSC shows our traffic increasing, so this seems like a good sign. But there are tons of pages to work on and w...

Domain Rebranding Worth It?

Hi everyone, I have an question about keywords and URLs. Although I work in marketing, I'm not very knowledgeable about SEO. Right now, I'm assisting a friend with her website. The company is a local, service-based business that provides facility cleaning services (Gebäudereinigung) in Berlin, Germany. The current domain is "brandname - cleaning TLD" . However, compared to "facility cleaning", the term "cleaning" is rather broad and might be used to describe anything from laundry services to automobile detailing to house cleaning. It doesn't seem to be directly related to facility cleaning as a service. So, the domain seems a little ambiguous to me. If the keyword "facility cleaning services" were prominently displayed in the domain and aligned with the H1/H2, I think the SEO may be enhanced. I'm thinking of registering a more specialized domain, such as "brandname - facilitycleaningservice TLD," because of this. T...

PBN algorithmic penalty recovery time?

We have a 13 year old 60DR legit e-commerce site. Our rankings have dropped considerably over the last year and we couldn't figure out why. After an investigation we found out last week that our employee who was doing SEO set up a small PBN network for our site to increase rankings about a year ago. The rankings did increase for about 3 months then continually started tanking to this day for the entire site. We think this is what may be causing the overall issue of rankings. Since we found out, we had the PBN network sites taken completely offline and domains disavowed last week. How long can it take to recover from something like this? submitted by /u/Moronicon [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/hG2QENH

Question about turning pages into blog posts

Hello I have a question about turning my pages into blog posts. So for SEO I created service + areas using pages instead of blogs. Now I want to organize the pages into a proper blog page with all of the pages I created (Which are pages). I discovered there is a tool called Post Type Switcher which will turn my pages into posts (/blog/service+area) now this will be better to categorize and give it more order but I will if do this to all my pages they will get hurt by SEO. Location Based Service Pages For Remote Therapy Company

Hey everyone, new to SEO and got my first client a remote therapy company. They want me to work on SEO for them and I thought I might try and focus on their niche plus local service pages based on UK cities because the competition isn't super strong. I understand there's a risk of google flagging content as being duplicate if the pages are too similar so obviously want to avoid that. I'm basically still an idiot at this so would really appreciate some veteran advice. Please could you roast my stupid SEO padawan plan: Separate pages vs one dynamic template Do you create a fully distinct page for each city, or use URL parameters and swap in the city name dynamically? How much unique copy is enough? If I’m swapping “Bristol” for “Liverpool” in headings and a few paragraphs but most of the core content (therapy overview, session format, testimonials) stays the same, will Google see these as duplicates? Roughly how many words or sections should be bespoke per city to a...

For a SAB business and their home / main nav geo location, do you use a broad regional term, the largest/closest city, or match the city of their GBP address?

Assuming the SAB business only has one office (GBP as a service area) I'm curious if you have a standard practice you follow for what geo location you add to their home and main nav pages title tags, H1's etc... Considering proximity to their GBP address is still the most important ranking factor (even for service area GBP setup) I often get paralysis on what geo location to target for these types of clients. Additionally, I find some clients are trying to target multiple city names on the home title tag, H1, etc... and I'm wondering if anyone thinks this strategy works despite it seemingly being against best practices of just targeting one location, then having dedicated location pages. submitted by /u/crushplanets [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/NAjoCBx

Local Insurance SEO Strategy: Personal Site to Company Page Redirection

Help and Insight Needed My wife is a local insurance sales associate, and her ideal clients are within our city for in-person meetings. Since her company restricts individual sales associates from Google Ads (to avoid competing with their in-house marketing), she's left with expensive print and direct mail. While she does get a company webpage with some on-page content control, she can't manage crucial elements like title tags, meta descriptions, or header tags. Due to these limitations, I'm considering creating a personal website for her. It would feature her professional bio, much like a LinkedIn profile, but its main focus would be her local business. We'd create dedicated pages for each insurance product she offers, concentrating on long-tail keywords as the site develops. Once the site is built, I plan to redirect its pages to her official company contact page. This lets potential clients reach her directly. Plus, this strategy offers a great backup: if she eve...

Best selling product, indexed on google but 0 organic traffic or results when searching

I am genuinely stumped. I've been trying to figure this out for days now, but I have no idea what might be happening. After changing over to Shopify a few months ago, some product pages have just been permanently dead on Google. The URL structure was changed- but that happened to other products as well, which didn't have any issues. Search console says its indexed. Ahrefs says its indexed, yet there's 0 organic traffic since the URL was originally found. Neither of them say the page has any issues whatsoever. To start the bulk of my SEO experience is about 10-15 years old, from the perspective of a web dev. I have a good handle on technical SEO but as far as content creation, backlinks, listings, etc. its not my strong suit. I took on a new client earlier this year to help their ecommerce store. They are a small local dog food company called Rocker Dog. Their site has only been around 1-2 years. I added a bunch of content to their existing pages (targeting various keywords like "fresh dog food", "dog food delivery", etc.) as well as some more niche keywords like "adaptogenic dog food" (which is where they're unique, even if the search vol is pretty low) , fixed a bunch of site structure issues, meta data, menu structure, and overall UX improvements. I optimized their GBP and I use SEMrush to help with business listings generation. I also am aiming for local SEO optimizations in their pages content because I figured that would be a good angle as the big p...

I have a website where main page is translated into many languages. After adding new languages (English was default for a long time) I started to check bing search console to see if those pages are indexed. The pages are totally same except the langauge. Paradocally some of the pages are indexes and some "are known to Bing but have some issue which prevent them being indexed". This "issue" in Bing console is weird by three reasons.First, the other pages which are in search are exactle the same from technical point of view. Secondly, previously those pages had an actual issue like repeating h1 header, but later it was fixed so now there is no actual issues with the page, but Bing keep saying something is wrong. And last and most redicolous thing, the pages which are not indexed are those I request to index the first. Pages which I haven't requested ended up in search first! If there are experts on Bing here, which way the rest of pages can be fixed? submit...

Writer experimenting with AI + SEO in need of a strategist to help test & refine

Hello! I’m currently experimenting with a system that lets me generate bulk SEO articles quickly—but still readable, useful, and enjoyable to humans. I’ve been testing solo, but I’d love to team up with an SEO strategist to brainstorm, test, and refine the process. I’m a writer with thousands of published pages, but it’s been tough landing consistent gigs lately…so I’m trying to pivot. If you’re interested, feel free to send me a message! 😊 submitted by /u/Civil_Bike_9177 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/zAImVxC

What is actually Google's plan for future?

I mean, the AI overviews is clearly a huge success as we can all see the big drop in organic traffic across all websites since it's launch. Internet users are clearly not interested in browsing content sites anymore and it's only matter of time the organic results will be removed completely. However, the biggest source of income for Google has always been Adsense, and the longer the visitors spent browsing content sites, the more money Google made. Some visitors spent up to 10-30 minutes browsing a website, and they could see lots of ads in various formats, including sticky banners, vignettes, video ads, etc. I can't see a future where Google will be making the same amount of money with just AI overviews compared to millions of visitors going to websites and seeing dozens of ads every single day. Is it just me or everyone?

I have been building a directory in public on X. It's day 10th of the directory, I am already at 600 + pages and 485 of them has been indexed. Since last 12 hours I have checked my search console but it is not showing any impressions. Earlier I was getting 1500 impressions a day now it seems to be at zero. What should I do? Should I add more pages or wait for a week? I am worried if I have been penalized or hit algorithmically because in 2024 I was hit and it was a content website everything crumbled for me after that. submitted by /u/Alone_Ad_3375 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/6AulQHw

Could this rank and rent idea work?

I have a niche that I would like to use in multiple areas under one website. The idea is to have the domain as “niche” + “near me now” or something similar. The website would have a drop down tab with each of the cities that I’d have a contractor in with their number on the page and also a link to social media accounts that I plan to post content on. I know this is probably an ambitious, full-court shot sounding idea, but I’m curious to know if I could rank in the areas that I setup in or is this too much. I’m open to all feedback, if it won’t work just let me know why so I can set myself in the right direction. I’m just trying to learn how much I can and can’t do submitted by /u/dxxminique [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/qDuULRX

Separate WP posts for each podcast episode?

A client of mine does a podcast, but doesn’t create a post on her Wordpress site for each episode. Should she? More specifically, would it help SEO enough to be worth the effort, or just a rounding error? And if the answer is yes, would it be worth the effort to magic up those individual pages for her 500+ previous episodes, or just do it for new episodes? submitted by /u/jazzhandler [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/5Lk8b27
