How to Fix Organic Headlines

Hi All - my companies name is in all lowercases. On google organic search results, Google capitalizes the first letter. So for example, instead of showing "shopify", it capitalizes to "Shopify", or in some cases, "SHOpify". I've searched through my website and there are no spots where google could refer to "Shopify" or "SHOpify". Does anyone have an idea of why this is happening, and how I can fix it? submitted by /u/lwilli07 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/WXirZO4

Is it possible to have a successful website without spending a lot?

So I just created a new website. I'm new at almost everything, except for writing content. I will be doing the writing myself, and I'm willing to learn as much as I possibly can about maintaining the site, getting traffic, etc. I am not an expert at this stuff. At the same time, I'm not aiming for a super popular website with like a million views. Just want enough traffic to feel like I have something active and useful. The problem is I don't have much to invest in it, so for those who know what's going on please tell me what I should expect. What's the minimum I can expect to spend on such things as SEO, backlinks, etc.? submitted by /u/Southern-Flamingo585 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/VcWtrKw

Getting backlinks on sites with high DA and positive organic traffic but look scammy. Thoughts?

Hired a backlink agency (supposedly reputable with great reviews) and they’ve sent a few websites for approval. All look kinda scammy (i.e. the website has no clear focus and they have dozens of different categories, like business, education, health, technology, sports, etc) - even though they’re all written in good English and are formatted properly. That said, they have high DA and traffic on an upward trajectory. Most don’t openly advertise that they accept guest posts. I’ve made it clear that it’s a big NO-NO for sites that openly advertise acceptance of guests posts. Besides obviously boosting my site’s DA, I’m also looking to get traffic from reputable sources (aka genuine readers of these sites), but it seems this isn’t possible because these sites don’t have a clear focus/niche. Thoughts? P.S. FWIW, I’m paying $200-300/link. submitted by /u/vitality2000vibes [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/N35HJhz

The Underrated Power of Low Competition Keywords: A Guide to Efficient SEO Strategy

NOTE: Many of you have seen my SEO AMA's or read a few of my articles here on reddit. and when asked what SEO strategy show you start with when first starting with SEO I always tell everyone that going after low competition keywords and a ton of them will drive organic traffic to their website sooner than going after the main high search volume keywords that everyone goes after. So I prepared a guide outlining the steps that you need to take to follow this strategy. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The world of SEO is vast and evolving, but the common misconception is that you need to compete for high-competition keywords to make any significant impact. The reality is quite different: you can gain valuable organic traffic by focusing on lower competition keywords, especially if you're a small business or a new website. This article delves into the essentials of a cost-effective SEO strategy: Onpage optimizati...

Optimizing for large scale E-commerce website

I wanted to ask how to go about optimizing meta tags for a large-scale e-comm website. There are so many products with almost exactly the same descriptions, and even names with like a letter or two difference. If there should be any automation to ease the process, what is the extent that the meta tags are acceptable? Would there have to be manual creation of thousands of different meta tags to optimize for? Let me know what the best practices for this would be, and if you could share any resources I could learn from would be great. How to backlink that benefits all similar urls?

My website has thousands of url like this: mywebiste/companyA/that_particular_product mywebiste/companyB/that_particular_product mywebiste/companyC/that_particular_product mywebiste/companyD/that_particular_product mywebiste/companyE/that_particular_product ..... I have a few places that I can backlink my website. Obviously I would like the ranking of all of those urls to be high. However realistically in each backlink post, I can only include a handful of them, I can't list all thousands of urls in a post. What I noticed in the past is the handful of urls that I backlink in those places did very well in terms of ranking. Other similar urls also saw some improvements but their rankings are nowhere near the the ranking of backlinked urls. I wonder whether is an effective way to backlink some urls so that other similar urls also benefit in terms of ranking? Should I Give Up on It?

I have an e-commerce store that sells apparel. I really want to implement an “SEO” friendly faceted navigation, but can’t wrap my head around it. (Very complex for my IQ) Let’s say I sold hats. I have a good number of products that fall into the collection hats, as well as good numbers of hats that are in a specific style, and color. How would I go about creating an indexable url for that page/combination? Should I make a new category page that only has these kind of products? What about my current faceted navigation setup? Currently, when users filter by color for example. The url and page updates to that filter with a parameter “color=black” I’ve been trying to understand for over 2 weeks and I honestly can’t figure out my next steps! submitted by /u/Tahalab [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/fxGgziM

Competitor ranking location pages with exact duplicated content?

im doing keyword and competitor research for a new client. one of their top-ranked competitors is ranking all kinds of location pages with exact duplicates of content , just inserting each respective [location]. i am going to mask the company name and the niche, but let's say this company, theoretically is John's Roofing in California. their site structure goes: johnsroofing dot com / roofing / johnsroofing dot com / roofing / [location] The /roofing/ page literally inserts the following exactly into the copy: "[location]", then each subpage location page has exact copies of the text with the respective location inserted into the [location] placeholder. so this sentence would appear exactly as follows across each page: johnsroofing dot com / roofing / "we are the best roofers in [location]" (note - literally "[location]" is written on the page) johnsroofing dot com / roofing / los-angeles "we are the best roofers in los angeles...

Thoughts on PBNs

What's up everybody, I'm sure there will be mixed responses on this. Who is still using PBN links and seeing results? I've recently found that some of my competitors sites ranking for some very competitive keywords are using ALL PBN links! Google Search Console Queries - Why is nothing but our company name and product name getting clicks - this is so lopsided it seems impossible. Over 3K clicks this year, but only 20 clicks other than our brand names!

I'm looking at a Google Search Console Queries report of our website and it shows over 3K clicks, but less than 20 clicks come from queries that aren't some form of our company name or product name. Can that be right? I've had around 5K Organic Search (in Analytics) visitors over that same period - and around 10% of those visitors download our trial software installer. But our new customers represent only about 10% of our revenue. Am I correct to assume that organic search isn't helping bring any customers that don't already know our company or product name? Image Alt Text Value

I recently was brought into a company to do marketing and I'm finding many problems with the custom-built (WordPress) website. The current issue I'm trying to solve is that image alt text is not being pulled correctly. Much of the site was built using taxonomies that auto-populate on pages. For example, the front page and other pages of the site have a line of logos showing our industry affiliations. Every logos' alt text is "Certificate Logo"... the name of the taxonomy. My two fears are: 1. the taxonomies displayed on every page could cause duplicate content issues. 2. and keyword stuffing (for terms that have nothing to do with our site). I have talked to our new developer and they want $500 to fix the issue. Are we being hurt $500 worth? submitted by /u/coopdad [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/3awXdZy

Anyone ever figure how how to prevent Google from putting your brand name at the end of your title in the serp?

When I search for something that I know will show my site, it shows the title and brand. Something like How to Do Awesome Thing - The How To Site Google has been rewriting serps like this for awhile. I've double checked my source code and the title and meta title doesn't have the brand name. Normally I wouldn't be too concerned. But I've been trying exact match domains (EMD) again and when every page has the main keyword in the serp title, it makes it harder for home page to rank for it. Little question about keywords

Guys, I'm performing a keyword research and correct me if I'm wrong, but if I have an H1 like Smile Design Dentistry: A Look into the Future , will that be only taken as a whole keyword(long tail one actually), or also take for example only "smile design dentistry"? when I use magic tool/keyword overview it gives me no data, but searching only smile design dentistry it gives me say x search volume and n keyword difficulty. Also when reading the body text I try to look keywords in each line but don't know where exactly one would start, or how the algorithm would make this. Example: H2 > "Types of ([dental bone grafts] procedures)" I see 3 keywords here, first the broader one with quotations, then the one with parenthesis and finally the one with brackets. My site ranks far better on Bing search than Google search?

Hi, I've been developing a cool new cycling routing web app, and I've tried to gain interest from a few publications. I've managed to acquire a few small backlinks. Currently, I don't have a lot of traffic, and my DA is quite low (I believe it was only 8 the last time I checked). I've noticed a significant difference in search query rankings between Bing's Webmaster Tools and Google Search Console. On Google, the average position for any search term that doesn't include the direct site name is usually beyond the 30th position. In contrast, I can often find my site within the top five positions for similar phrases on Bing's Webmaster Tools. I've verified this by directly searching these terms on Bing. That being said, I receive much more traffic from Google than from Bing. Last month, for instance, I recorded 200 clicks from Google and only 28 from Bing. While these numbers might seem insignificant to many of you, I'm mainly curious about the...

Urgent Help Needed: Impressions Dropped to Zero Overnight – All Top-Ranked Articles Gone!

Has anyone else experienced a sudden and unexplained drop in Google search rankings and impressions? My site's impressions, which were around 300-500 per day, have suddenly dropped to a complete zero. I'm wondering if this could be related to a recent algorithm update from Google. When I search using site:mysite.com, all of my posts appear as expected. Similarly, if I include my site name in a search term, the results show up as they should. However, if I search for the exact term without including my site name or using site:mysite.com, even the articles that previously ranked at #1 are completely gone. They don't even appear on the last results page. This is puzzling, especially since these changes occurred suddenly and without any apparent reason. Is anyone aware of a recent Google update that might explain this? Or has anyone faced a similar issue and found a way to fix it? Any insights or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Trying to figure out backlinks

Hi everyone, I have a website that I just created a little over a month ago and I've been working on my SEO. I've ran an audit scan and I'm scoring 88% overall, but one very important factor I seem to be missing is backlinks. My audit says I only have a few backlinks and 1 referring domain. I am by far not an SEO expert, I'm just an accountant trying to figure out SEO on my own and 3 weeks ago I never even heard of a backlink. I managed to bring my backlinks score up a whole 5 percentage points after doing several things in an attempt to get backlinks, but I'm still scoring poorly in that area at 30% and I'm honestly not sure what I did to get those added percentage points. No amount of research has helped me figure out the backlinks. I have my website linked to several places...Facebook, LinkedIn, reddit, my business YouTube page, yelp, Google business profile, Bing places, webwiki, thumbtack, crunchbase...I am also waiting for BBB to approve my listing reque...

Undetected ChatGPT articles?

I am wanting to utilize the powerful new technology of AI to write some articles on my website without being penalized by google. I had the idea to create an article using ChatGPT, and then put the article that it writes into a smart word rephraser to see if this makes the content undetectable by AI detectors. After this, I put the rephrased article (that was also slightly edited by me) into an AI Detector to see if it picks it up as human-written content. And it works, saying that the article is 100% human written. I also reverse-tested this to see if the AI detector is working properly by putting the unedited article straight from ChatGPT into the AI Detector, and it (of course) says the article 0% human written. Would this be something that I could do to pump out some AI-written articles for SEO without being penalized by google? submitted by /u/Beneficial-Reach9947 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/xtdEVpv

What's the best practice for starting a food blog in 2023?

I understand that some of these questions might be a bit sensitive for the community since we all have our own trade secrets. However, I'm simply curious about the general strategy. What would be the most effective way to invest time and money? Would it be a conventional WordPress blog combined with quality link building, or perhaps a more integrated approach with blog posts closely connected to YouTube videos? If you have any insights on this, I'd greatly appreciate it! submitted by /u/MaciasAnya95 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/QaHwr4m

How do I fix this?

I have a website and have a handful of posts that are not being indexed and are saying - Excluded by ‘noindex’ tag But here's the problem, I've got a lot pages being indexed in google - but when I look into the specific pages, there are some that are not. Does anybody know why this is happening? When I do URL inspect on these specifc posts that are not being indexed, it says - "Indexing allowed? info No: 'noindex' detected in 'X-Robots-Tag' http header" Does anybody know how to fix this? My website is allowing crawling, so it's not that. I'm pretty new to SEO, so apologies if this is a noob question. 7 month old blog, 55 articles, only 150 daily impressions and ZERO clicks. What am I doing wrong?

Niche: fitness Total nr of impressions from the start till today: 6k Total nr of clicks, not including my own: 0 Index vs. non-indexed pages currently: 45 indexed, 27 not indexed (most of the non-indexed pages are thin content that's been written by someone from Fiverr, read below for more details on that). Started the blog/website in januari 2023. Now, after 7 months, Im still not getting ANY clicks. Currently, my average nr of daily impressions on google is around 150-170. I post on average about 2 articles per week. Of the 55 articles about 20 are written by someone else via Fiverr that I paid money for. I regret making this attempt to outsourcing, because I realised only later that they've used AI for those 20 and the articles are of low quality according to my judgement (thin, AI generated garbage content). Those 20 articels barely get impressions (most of the 20 are not indexed either). All other articles are written by myself without AI. I target long ta...

SEO organic keywords decreasing

Hi all, lately I've been checking on the domain analytics of our company's website in Semrush and I see a trend in the organic keywords metric where it's decreasing more and more. This started to scare me, how can I solve this? Currently we publish 3 blogs a month and I indicated to our content writer to make use of certain keywords. Since I have just a month here as an in-house SEO and I'm learning Semrush on the go which is pretty overwhelming sometimes, I don't know if maybe it's because of the keywords I told the content creator to use (which I doubt it). Do I need to replace keywords that maybe are not ranking that well anymore? Or Is it that my competitors are doing a lot of efforts and making it harder to stay with a good organic keyword metric? Or maybe is an update from Google's algorithm. submitted by /u/cozyajix [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/ODTyLtn

Local/Geo Pages Question

My client insists on having city pages for areas he does business in (makes sense), but then he wants "towns" pages for every tiny town -- hundreds of them! Some of these towns have populations under 1000 people. I need a way to clearly explain that this isn't doing him any good and he could be cannibalizing keywords. Help! submitted by /u/WotVerge [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/4mUpX7D

SEO/SERP issues with multiple languages in the same Shopify store?

This is a recently launched Shopify store. Based on the primary language demographics of my targeted markets, some of my product pages have content in both English and German. H3 title with some descriptive paragraphs in English, followed by H3 title with the same content in German. Judicious incorporation of target keywords in both English and German. Question: Is having multiple languages on a single page negative/neutral/positive for SEO/SERPs? I also have several different informational articles, each of which has an English-only page and German-only page. Question: Are there any SEO/SERP issues with having content pages duplicated multiple times, but in different languages? In GSC, I am not seeing any demonstrable lag in the multi-language pages or in the language-based duplicate content pages compared to single-language pages; and the associated search terms are reasonably distributed between both English and German. But it's early on, and obviously I would prefer to inter...

Business ranks #1 in different city/state - ranks low or not at all in actual location

I'm dying here with SEO and Google. I started a company in City #1 almost five years and moved out of City #1 almost three years ago. When I moved, I made sure to go through my web presence and change/update data immediately and I started ranking in my new city within a couple of weeks. Fast forward to now, I switched to Squarespace a couple of weeks ago and the majority of my web presence in my current location has disappeared. I now rank #1 in the original city I started the company in five years ago. I've gone through my website, adjusted SEO, made sure that everything is accurate and up to date and nothing I do seems to do anything. My site has been indexed by Google multiple times within the last 4-6 weeks, make sure to update sitemap, etc. I don't get local service calls anymore, I only get calls from multiple states away because people can't read a listing beyond its phone number. ??? I don't know what to do and I don't have the 4 figures to hire a ...

Do images sized smaller than shown slow speed? We have thousands

For years, I had been uploading featured images at 480 px wide because that was the old site image size, but we have changed to 700 px width for both headers and featured (thumbnails somehow automatically go to about 200px sq). Recently I added an image converter to AIFF or WEBP to reduce image loading time. Now in the uptime speedcheck, several (but not all??) of these old 480px images are cited by uptime as slowing the speed of the site. It says "size images correctly". (Also, a slider includes 700px images stretched to 100% screen width. Wouldn't that mean they are sized incorrectly too?) Is there anything I do? I can't resize thousands of images. submitted by /u/Baselines_shift [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/oYprMds

SEO Advice for New Online Store w/ New Brands

I’m working on a relatively new Shopify store selling children’s toys. All the lines of toys under each brand are all manufactured and sold by the same entity. >> That means there is basically zero visibility or demand for these brands since they’re all very new. I keep an eye on onsite SEO basics and attend to issues that arise in GSC & Ahrefs, but I don’t think we have enough traffic for that to matter. We’re beginning SEO efforts NOW by purchasing 8 curated links for month-1 to support “online toy store,” leading to the homepage. I expect to review what the vendor provides in a couple weeks. We have a modest blog that our CEO is NOT interested in writing more content for, but I continue to tinker with AI content generation and optimization tools with the posts we have. We ranked ~60 for “best toys for Christmas” for a holiday post I did last year that I kept revising, which has now been lost completely. I’m not a pro SEO, so it takes me a lot of time to attempt optimiz...

Unsure what this is called - a balance between search friendly and human friendly?

I’m planning a website revamp and learning about SEO at the same time. I see a lot of websites in my industry that have an awful lot of services sub-pages for variations of the same service. My guess is this is being done to increase the total content and rank higher for certain keywords. As a human reading it, I find it looks silly. I’m a fan of minimalism but want to learn about striking the balance between having a simplified services list and optimize for organic search. This is the best way I can convey what’s in my brain. Is this concept called something? I’d like to know what to do more research on. Any help or suggestions of what to read/watch would be greatly appreciated. Thanks I’m advance. submitted by /u/3kilo003 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/h34LfU2

Very Weird "Near Me" Search Results, When did this happen

I have noticed some very odd results recently when searching and analyzing keywords for clients that contain "near me". I'm not sure if this has been happening a long time or what. Just wanted to create an open discussion about this. So I first of all, I was researching for a medical spa client and looked at SERPs for the keyword "Lip Fillers Near Me". I noticed a few results that were local to their market and then several results on page one that were med spas from all over the country that just had pages with basic keyword optimization for that exact keyword. Then I got curious wondering if it was just for possibly less competative keywords but then I searched for "SEO Agency near me" and I'm seeing the same thing -- companies not near me. I am just wondering has Googles algo regressed so much that they are just ranking pages with exact match title tags. Its a shit result that if I am not going crazy it would show you all local business in Ma...
