Pages randomly disappearing from SERPs (re-appearing after I re-index them)

Hi guys, I've experienced an unusual trend on my website. Some of my pages are falling off of SERPs, but they reappear again after I re-index them through GSC. I wondered if anyone else has experienced this, and if so, what was causing the problem in the first place? Thanks. submitted by /u/Dozl [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/PFCzBdA

Website Sitename not Showing in SERP

Hi, I'm having trouble with my sitename as it does not show up on the SERPs. I've followed Google guidelines, and the elements that the algorithm looks for when determining the site name on the homepage. I have checked the website-structured data multiple times too. However, it still doesn't work and only shows my url instead. Does it matter what primary domain you have set? (for example, having a www . or not?) I can't think of anything else...I know the process is automated by Google but it's now been weeks. Makes me think that it's something else related to a domain setup or something. I hope this makes sense, thank you! submitted by /u/Exact_Award_782 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/L1Pn8Yv

Changing phone number - 10 positions down

Hi everyone! I recently bought a local services website that was ranked 4, page 1 on google SERP. I changed the phone number on the website and it went down. Now it's not even on page 1 anymore. The phone number listed is the same number I have on another google business + website that is pretty fresh and not ranked for those keywords the website I bought is ranked for. Do you know if the phone number change especially the similar number is an issue? How should I fix this? Appreciate your input, thank you! submitted by /u/adi_le [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/kZWyLeV

Why is my homepage the only page indexing on Google?

I run a server with almost 100 WordPress websites on it like this one and have never had an issue like this. I've successfully uploaded the xml sitemap to GSC, which saw all 59 pages, but under the pages tab it only says 1 page is visible. The other 58 aren't even considered not indexed, which sits at "0". To thicken the plot, when I inspect one of the not indexing pages on GSC (that appeared in the sitemap I uploaded), it has under details for "URL is not on Google": "Sitemaps - No referring sitemaps detected". I made the site live over a month ago, and most websites just like this that I launch have all pages indexed within a week or 2. If it were a problem with the DNS, I assume no pages would be indexing, so the fact that only the hompage is indexing is baffling. Has anyone experienced this before or have advice? Thanks! submitted by /u/Daniel_Camomile [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://if...

Curious how other SEO agency owners utilize invoices proposals and contracts.

I use this company Bonsai (worst customer service experience and would not recommend them because of that.) That being said, You're able to send out the proposal (and they can put money down), you can send over the contract, have them agree to terms and sign, then send over the remaining invoice. But I'm curious if any of you others do this? Seems kind of annoying for a client to get the proposal, put something down, pay it, sign the contract, then pay the rest of the invoice before the month starts. Just curious how others are doing it. submitted by /u/Full_Boysenberry_161 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/tTP5aNm

Local SEO question - targeting cities and regions

My company is regional (full east coast) and looking to expand our footprint nationally. We have about 25% of our customer base outside the east coast. I’m on SEMrush now doing KW research and I’m seeing some very low difficulty scores for like: [service] companies in Dallas or San Diego [service] companies. I come from a SaaS background and in those roles I had a lot of success doing ranking pages where I would compare our competitors and us on a list to target like “best [software type] software companies] search terms. I’m now in a B2B service industry where many competitors are hyper local. Could I do a similar strategy for each of our cities and just take copy from those competitors websites (not plagiarize) and roll it into a ranking type blog post? With SaaS it was easy because features and benefits were very easy to compare. This is a little more grey so I just wanted to be sure there is some transference of the strategy that could work. submitted by /u/fartsinhissleep ...

Previous marketer may have gotten a Google Business Profile penalized and I don't know how to help

TL:DR Google business profile is dead and I don't know how to fix it. Previously I ran a local children's entertainment business and achieved top results on all the SERP pages. I eventually closed my business (but I am still #1 on SERP). We have about 15 competitors locally and it will pull up some more from near areas. Since I closed, a previous competitor of mine asked if I would take over the SEO and website from them to try and get them to appear higher. I have only been doing this a few months but we've seen great improvement in all areas EXCEPT the google business profile. It won't even show up under the same keywords as the website, only if you search the companies name. I found some keyword stuffing initially that I fixed a few months ago but otherwise the profile is complete, has lots of reviews (all 5 star), and tons of pictures both from us and previous customers. Would love some advice on what other factors could be at play, tools I could use,...

SEO for lots of part numbers

I am stumped. I have a manufactoring client that does not want an eccomcerce site but has over 1000 different part variations they want to show up if someone googles a part number. Google pages de-indexing

Hi - I know similar questions are asked a ton, and there are a lot of resources out there on this issue - but I'm just generally unsure of my best option. Changes in page count over time: I am a SEO beginner and launched a WIX website on 2/11/2023 - writing approximately one 'article' per day in order to drive traffic for my broader business. Pages started indexing on Google on 3/27/2023 (19 pages indexed 17 not indexed). This increased over the next couple days with 23 indexed, but I lost a lot of the pages that weren't indexed (dropped to 7 not indexed). Over the next month, my indexed page count gradually decreased to 11 pages. I started researching possible causes online at this point, and one suggestion I found was to re upload the sitemap which I did. On 5/6/2023 after redoing the sitemap my total page count was up to 60 (50 not indexed). In the past month, my total page count has remained stable, but indexed page count is slowly decreasing again, and is now dow...

Is Yoast(or equivalent with equivalent features) worthwhile for non SEO's?

I own a small business and while I created what I believe to be a beautiful and properly coded site(using Kadence Pro/Gutenberg), I don't know a great deal about SEO. Yes I know you should have a title and meta desc, and that your pictures should have proper titles, alt tags, etc... I also know you should have a proper sitemap, and quality backlinks. Oh, and two more things I think I know is that you should have a reasonable internal linking structure and that page load speed is important to the big G. That's it - that's all I really know about SEO. Right now I am using "The SEO Framework". It's reasonably easy to understand but mots of the settings are defaults as I assume these types of plugins come with sane presets for the 'hands off' types. I got to looking at Yoast and it purports to have some sort of content sanity engine where it will somehow guide you in your content writing so that you're writing highly SEO optimized pieces, but also re...

SEO questions on an education site

I own a general education website which has a page traffic of about 60,000 per month and its pure organic from Google. What's happened is that a few months ago, I posted about 10 articles which target Indian audience and it went mental. 80% of my traffic became Indian and revenue generated by it was just 5% of my revenue since CPM and CPC is very low for India. The problem: With every passing month, the Indian traffic seems to be going higher and higher while the traffic of other countries such as USA and EU are stagnant or falling and my revenue is hence suffering with it. Is it that if I get traffic from one country, traffic from other countries will automatically drop? I stopped posting pages targeting Indian content even though I identified 20-30 potential articles which can surge my traffic to over 2-3 million in a year. This was because I wanted to build my other country traffic and Adsense revenue rather than increasing traffic from India. Is this a good idea? What is t...

Redirects with SEO can I gain traffic from purchasing a domain with the keyword in and forwarding to my main domain?

Hello! I am wondering if this is worth pursuing or not and whether it will have any real benefit. The future of SEO and AI Marketing is Here. Its called SEO.

The funny thing about SEO and AI is that a surprisingly large amount of wannabe SEOs have started asking - will AI kill SEO now that it can do it? What a preposterous question that contradicts itself. Ask AI what SEO or, worse "what an SEO strategy" is. You'll get the same thing. A list of 5 or 6 basic things that are tantamount to putting a page title on a page and doing keyword research. Oh and get some backlinks. From 100's of millions of blog posts and pages, AI has basically given us the same list as I would have had back in 1995 building my first commercial website. How sad. How telling. How Opportunistic. AI is as clueless as the 99% of people selling "SEO" without having a clue. SEO is about reverse engineering search engines, while growth hacking is about reverse engineering everything. While Social Medialists were the first to claim the untimely death of SEO back in 2009 - every publication is now remarking on the passing of Social Media. Sa...

Not showing up in Google Maps on mobile when searching most important keyword (but showing up on desktop and under other keyswords)

Hi, don't know if this is the place to ask this, but here goes. I have been working on SEO for my small law firm for a while. I have a weird problem, and I don't know how to even begin to solve it. I have managed to raise my ranking to where I am now the second organic result when searching for "lawyer [my town]". I am also in the top 3 on google maps when searching for this keyword on desktop. So if you're on mobile, looking for "lawyer [my town]" I will show up in the google results, my ads will show, but I am not visible on google maps - at all. But it's only a problem on mobile. On desktop it works fine, and as I said I'm a top 3 google maps r...

Do SEO service prices usually include all expenses? (ie links)

I have narrowed down my search for an SEO agency to several options now. I wanted to know, what an agency charges, does it usually include all expenses? Average backlink prices?

I know there is probably a massive range here, but I'm trying to figure out what the average price is for a backlink. Essentially what is acceptable vs a rip off. I contacted a site (mid 20s DA and under 50k monthly traffic) about guest posting and they responded saying they charged $100 per guest post and allowed 1 backlink in each. Not sure if this is good or bad. If it's a reasonable price then it would seem to mean that other sites in this niche have spent well into the 6 figures, some 7 figures, on backlinks. While I suppose that's not entirely out of the realm of possibility, just doesn't seem like something the average person is going to be able to do. Hopefully I can get some ideas of direction here, I certainly don't have 100K to throw at backlinks. submitted by /u/reefingdragon [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/lksWjMb

New website and new URL - best approach for migration?

Our website is currently built on Wordpress and Woocommerce, with Elementor (front end web builder plugin). Over time, it's got very messy - we have 50+ plugins, a few different developers have done work on the site, and it has gotten very slow and unruly. So, we are using a web dev agency to build us a new website. The new site will still be on Wordpress and Woocommerce, but they will be doing a bespoke build for the site. We will need to migrate all of our content across to the new site. At the same time, we are also rebranding. So we will also be changing URL. I just wondered if anyone had any tips re the best way to manage the move, as we're moving to a new site and moving URL. Our domain authority is currently 45 and have a lot of organic traffic, so I'm very wary of doing something that could harm this. But ultimately our site is slowly grinding to a halt, so we really need to rebuild, and a rebrand is also very overdue. Any thoughts welcomed and appreciated! ...

We are now at the point that we need other SEO pros to help us by giving us feedback on how it can be improved before we submit it to the app store. What is the best process for that? submitted by /u/gg-maennche [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/h2wemjo

Switched from self-hosting to shopify, GSC is all sorts of messed up

I switched from woocommerce to shopify for various reasons. When I did so, all the pages that were on my wordpress site are now mixed with the indexing from shopify and still show in Google Search Console. Shopify has a different URL structure so there isn't a way to copy the old URLs. Is there anything I can do to clean this up? I deleted the old sitemap and uploaded the new one but it didn't do a whole lot. submitted by /u/wkern74 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/xMFPGZO

If I were to have 300+ high quality blog posts about my product, should I share all of these at once?

Ok, I know the first thought is are these AI generated, but hear me out. Let's suppose these are high quality posts, they are well written and can link to each other, and have proper images. What would be the best way to start publishing these for my platform? Does it make a difference if I publish gradually, or all at once? thank you submitted by /u/freecodeio [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/tC82RNZ

URL Forwarding

So I'm forwarding my URL and since I'm doing this it isn't being indexed by Google. I'm just curious what the best practice is? Should I not forward it and just have Format host it? New to SEO and so I'd need step by step instructions. submitted by /u/lennon818 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/fceXSg4

Should I link gallery pictures on my site to different services on the site or be spammy and link directly to the google map listing?

Which would help more? I realize linking to google maps may interfere with the the viewer experience of the site but the gallery page views are pretty low so I'm not too concerned about it. submitted by /u/abusivecat [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/pfcm3b8

How to stay in top 10?

So we've done loads of SEO work getting some of our most important keywords into the top 10. Weeks later Semrush or AhRef reports start reporting that they've already dropped out again. What ultimately needs to be done to keep them up there? More backlinks building? Strengthen GMB? 🤔 submitted by /u/ApprehensiveLemon249 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/TLp1aZ6

Does local SEO focused work impact global reach?

This might be a stupid question, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer. Does it hurt my global reach if I focus some parts of my marketing on global and some more local? f.e. a business coach that creates a Google Business Profile in Seattle to focus on getting found more in Seattle (and few Seattle focused blogs), but still creating other content that is not location focused. submitted by /u/franticferret4 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/ghR6diE

How do you write and store your SEO article? What tools do you use?

Need help with intentional misspelling - this one is a doozy

I was wondering if some of your big SEO craniums could help with my particular issue. I have a brand let's say it's called "Canderella", which is a take on "Cinderella". Right now, when users search "Canderella", Google says "here are the results for "Cinderella" and displays images for Cinderella, the Disney princess. Only when you click on "Search instead for Canderella" do we show up as the 3rd listing (we have a low domain authority as we have just launched). Is this worth pursuing to convince Google not to show Cinderella and try to rank for Canderella or should we just rebrand to another name? Hoping someone here can help! submitted by /u/Visual-Rooster2226 [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/7OCZvXP

Backlinks for brand new companies/websites

I work for a small marketing firm as the SEO specialist, but I am still very new to everything. We get clients who just started their business and launched their first website. Most of the time, there are only 10 backlinks in total per site (sometimes zero). How would someone like me (a 3rd party) obtain backlinks? I keep reading about reaching out to bloggers in the industry, but how would I do that since I am not the business owner? Also, I cannot create new pages or significantly change existing ones because most of the website content has been contractually agreed upon by our developers and the clients. submitted by /u/SEO_Padwan [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/jCzgAYu

Keyword research confusion across different apps

I use a lot of KW research tools, but most often Semrush. Unfortunatley, it seems Semrush is incredibly inaccurate, making it difficult for keyword research and has often led to costly and time-investing mistakes. For example, if I perform keyword research on Semrush and find one with a low KD score and decent volume (let's say KD is 10, volume is 260), it's actually inaccurate. If I take that same keyword and use the Keywords Everywhere extension, their numbers are significantly higher (KD is 73, volume is 1600) After testing this scenario multiple times, it appears KW Everywhere is usually accurate and Semrush is off. I love Semrush, but it's harder to choose which keyword to invest a ton of time in when it comes to creating articles, pages, etc. to rank. submitted by /u/MetricsMule [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/o2fdL6j

Old software engineer looking to get paid into making blog posts with affiliate links, any pointers?

I plan to do a website that will initially start within no backlinks nor paid traffic. Just links to Amazon products along with content that’s mainly for the search engine rankings. How should I go about rethinking my product? (Background: 13 years of software engineering mainly with e-commerce sites - so I might be very outdated with current organic traffic strategies along with how to actually make a sale 😂 - so I’m hoping that info helps shape the responses to the new mindset I should be having) submitted by /u/a-friendgineer [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/pXf0c2k

ChatGPT for SEO + AI tool stack

I've seen soooo many people claim totally different things and argue whether ChatGPT is destroying SEO, revolutionizing SEO, bad for SEO or good for SEO. It's a huge topic, and I think we can all agree that it's not just a seasonal thing, and we will probably use AI more and more. I just want to know your opinions, what can we be worried about and whether we even should be, what changes to SEO may come and what other AI tools are worth looking at. Open discussion. submitted by /u/seogreasyknuckless [link] [comments] from Search Engine Optimization: The Latest SEO News https://ift.tt/QoVY3HG

Article Structure For Game Walkthrough

Hello. I want to write a walkthrough with a focused keyword 'GameName Walkthrough', and there are 10 chapters to describe, hence 10 different posts. Should I create a page with the keyword and put those 10 posts there, or maybe add the same keyword to the title of every chapter? What's the right way to do it? Professionals, Please Guide me...

Hi, I have been doing seo of my own affiliate websites for last 10 years. However, in the last one year all of my website's traffic took a nose dive leaving me with very low income flow to sustain. I tried many things and made strategic changes to recover the lost traffic but nothing seems to be moving the needle. Plus, I am left with no money to invest in content or links now. Following this situation, I have decided to take a job in a company as a role of SEO manager. The background of the company is they are a single content focused website and YouTube channel which is related to Apple products. In simple words they run a Apple related content website and YouTube channel and they are hiring SEO manager for it right now. They have been doing consistently great in Google and remained unaffected by most of the Google updates (as per SEMRUSH traffic). Their website also took a hit during covid period but they successfully managed to recover and double the traffic. My backgrou...

Your advice does really help

This one is for the SEO geniuses on here who are throwing out advice for the newbies and maybe not feeling super appreciated: Your advice helps. Seriously. I started my architecture, practice about 10 years ago and had no budget for marketing, SEO, website dev, anything. My husband and I were fresh out of University and knew a lot about buildings and not a lot about anything else. I don’t remember what forum it was on, but I built a basic Wordpress website and got deep into SEO. I used that forum to ask a whole bunch of really stupid, specific questions to a bunch of busy, talented people. I have been using the notepad document on my computer with the answers that were generated from the stupid questions as my guiding star ever since those days. Our architecture practice employs nine people now, we are in three locations and we love going to work every day. I still manage the SEO myself, and I still have very little idea of what I’m doing… but it’s enough to outsmart the other loca...
